Here is THE book recounting the life and times of one of the most respected men in the world, Warren Buffett. The legendary Omaha investor has never written a memoir, but now he has allowed one writer, Alice Schroeder, unprecedented access to explore directly with him and with those closest to him his work, opinions, struggles, triumphs, follies, and wisdom. The result is the personally revealing and complete biography of the man known everywhere as “The Oracle of Omaha.”Although the media track him constantly, Buffett himself has never told his full life story. His reality is private, especially by celebrity standards. Indeed, while the homespun persona that the public sees is true as far as it goes, it goes only so far. Warren Buffett is an array of paradoxes. He set out to prove that nice guys can finish first. Over the years he treated his investors as partners, acted as their steward, and championed honesty as an investor, CEO, board member, essayist, and speaker. At the same ...

#Detailed - although excessive (2008-11-23) The Snowball is chronologically arranged and meticulously detailed. This makes the timeline of Warren Buffett s life sequential and easy to understand how he has evolved into the world s best investor. The author has gone through what I think is a habit most writers have - of not throwing away anything from their years of researching a topic. Each and every detail of Buffett and his multiple friends and family members, makes for 300 pages more of what should have been a 500 page book. Some of this detail is helpful to understand the main...
#Left me sad and depressed (2008-11-23) I thought the book was well written and very informative however, it left me feeling depressed and thankful for my life. It doesn t seem that Warren Buffett is really all THAT happy. He has many close friends and family but how close does he let them get? And the jab that is taken at his granddaughter is equally sad. If those children were adopted by Peter they are no longer step children but actual children. Not to mention they were an important part of Peter and Big Susie s life and that should carry some weight. The arrangement of al...
#The SnowBall: Warren Buffet and the Business of Life (2008-11-22) The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of LifeThe book s presentation and bookbinding as supplied was completely unsatisfactory as the pages were unevenly put together in an uneven mess. The content was compiled from over 1000 interviews and although interesting appeared like a documentary with little heart and soul. At times there was extensive detail about family connections without providing details of transactions involved and their intricacy. It did highlight some human frailties in Warren that is com...
#The best soap opera I ve read.... (2008-11-19) This is a very enjoyable book, particularly for those hoping to get a feel for how Buffett has lived his life, over his many years. What it WON T do is go into any practical depth as to how he evaluates an investment decision. High-level generalities, yes, specifics, no. Still, it s a great read. His early (9-13yrs old) business dealings. . . . . his first stab at stock investing. . . . . his first date. . . . . etc. etc. . . . . . on to the lifestyles of the rich and famous existence that he has enjoyed for probably 2 decades now. ...
#the best biography about an investor i ever read!! (2008-11-19) i think this book is really thoughtful, no matter in investment or others. It really got into deeply the greatest investor s life. Also it provides a lot of his opinions about investing. I really enjoyed this book.

Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell and advertise! These words of fatherly advice helped shape Ted Turner s remarkable life, but they only begin to explain the colorful, energetic, and unique style that has made Ted into one of the most amazing personalities of our time. Along the way - among his numerous accomplishments -- Ted became one of the richest men in the world, the largest land owner in the United States, revolutionized the television business with the creation of TBS and CNN, became a champion sailor and winner of the America s Cup, and took home a World Series championship trophy in 1995 as owner of the Atlanta Braves. An innovative entrepreneur, outspoken nonconformist, and groundbreaking philanthropist, Ted Turner is truly a living legend, and now, for the first time, he reveals his personal story. From his difficult childhood to the successful launch of his media empire to the catastrophic AOL/Time Warner deal, Turner spares no details or feelings and takes th...

#Only 448 pages? (2008-11-19) Ted likens himself to Rhett Butler from Gone with the wind, which coincidently is one of the longest movies made in its time. The only negative I can come up with for this book is that the book is a bit short for such a remarkable story. The extra stories by various people serve to present the reader with a few new angles, something rarely done. Lets call on Ted to write another and add all those parts that got edited out. Then we can call it maximum fun. . .
#A real look at Ted Turner (the good and the bad) (2008-11-16) I love biographies, especially good ones that tell the truth about a person that you would never know otherwise (as opposed to their own shiny account of who they are). Call Me Ted does not disappoint. First of all, a book about a guy who is hugely successful and admits I don t spend a lot of time dwelling on the past or thinking about myself, is bound to be interesting so long as it is honest. And it is. You get a detailed look at Ted s life, including insight from competitors, his ex-wife Jane Fonda, etc. You get the ...
#Revealing to the max (2008-11-14) Reading about the list of notables who have had dealings of one kind or another with Ted is impressive, Castro to Gorbachev, and Jimmy Carter to Bill Gates and others and is worth the cost of the book. Jane Fonda s take on Ted is probably one of the more revealing. Ted also, with much candor, reveals a surprising amount about his early life. I found the discussion of his time in boarding school to be very touching. It might be an overstatement I know, but it is amazing that Ted is as normal as he is given his up-bringing and early history. We all...
#CALL ME THE MONEY (2008-11-12) Ted Turner gives a straighforward account of his life with all the problems and trials he dealt with in his early years. He seems to be honest and straightforward about how it affected him and helped him triumph if spite of it. As the creator of 24 hours TV news, he presents a compelling story of success and how to make lots of money. Author of: Mr. NewHeart, the inspiring story of a 1991 heart transplant and how I found it. Find it @ lulu (dot) com/dshollar
#great american story (2008-11-12) Very truthful story. Written from the heart. Basically a story written by a man s man. Tends to be a bit glossy in some sections. I had hoped he would spend more time on his business challenges, but overall a very good read. I hope he writes a story regarding his fights to make CNN the organization it is today.

She was television s most famous virgin -- and, as Aaron Spelling s daughter, arguably its most famous case of nepotism. Portraying Donna Martin on Beverly Hills, 90210, Tori Spelling became one of the most recognizable young actresses of her generation, with a not-so-private personal life every bit as fascinating as her character s exploits. Yet years later the name Tori Spelling too often closed -- and sometimes slammed -- the same doors it had opened.sTORI telling is Tori s chance to finally tell her side of the tabloid-worthy life she s led, and she talks about it all: her decadent childhood birthday parties, her nose job, her fairy-tale wedding to the wrong man, her so-called feud with her mother. Tori has already revealed her flair for brilliant, self-effacing satire on her VH1 show So NoTORIous and Oxygen s Tori & Dean: Inn Love, but her memoir goes deeper, into the real life behind the rumors: her complicated relationship with her parents, her struggles as an actress after 9021...

#Good, hard to put down (2008-11-22) This is a really good book. I read it compulsively, harldy putting it down. Tori Spelling is a total comedian, who knew? While she does tell a lot of stories about her mom and dad, it s not in the totally spoiled brat, repressed childhood way I thought it would be. Obviously she has issues with her mom, and maybe some of those are her fault, some are clearly not. She borders a little bit on self-obsessed a few times when criticizing her family, but she s got a point when she says that being Aaron Spelling s daught was a double edged sword for he...
#It s good !! (2008-11-21) Being a fan of 90210 I was really looking forward to hearing Tori s story. Picked her book up at the airport and finished it almost in one sitting. Fun and entertaining read giving an insight into her life and up bringing. I found she approached most subjects sensitively and did not bad mouth anyone. Interesting to see how her approach to money and her upbringing have had such a massive influence on her life. Overall a good entertaining read if you re interested in Tori.
#Insider s look (2008-11-11) I think this is a great autobiography. You get an insider s look to what Tori s life was like growing up, during 90210 and her current marriage. I have always loved Tori and reading this made me feel for her the way all the critics who say mean things should.
#Oh Tori... (2008-11-10) Tori Spelling is a guilty pleasure. She s so funny in everything she does and has three shows I adored before watching that: Tori and Dean: Inn Love, So No-TORIous and 90210. I enjoyed her book very much and she s hilarious, it s a good read.
#OMG! I LOVE TORI (2008-11-09) This is a great book i would recommend it to anybody who just have the press side of her life and want a lovely book that you can tell is from the heart. I love Tori Spelling and i have to admit there are a lot of things i had a different opinion of until i read her book. This is such a sad book at times but it also made me laugh a couple of times. Everyone should read this book because it is just great and you will genuinly have a better view of Tori Spelling.

Spend a few hours with George Hamilton?Don t Mind If I DoDon t let that tanned, handsome, charming surface fool you. Beneath the bronzed façade is a mischievous mind with a wicked wit. George Hamilton doesn t miss a thing. With a front row seat for classic Hollywood s biggest secrets and scandals, George has the intelligence, heart, and unflappable spirit to tell his story, and the story of Tinseltown s heyday, with great good humor and delicious candor -- as only he can. From Where the Boys Are to Dancing with the Stars, from Mary Pickford to Elizabeth Taylor, from smalltown Arkansas to the capitals of Europe -- it s all here, and George has lived to tell and to laugh about it.As the child of a Dartmouth-educated bandleader father and a glamorous Southern debutante mother whose marriage crumbled early on, George had a childhood filled with misadventures and challenges that his mother always seemed able to turn from tragedy to comedy. Her idea of changing the family s fortunes involve...

#What a DELIGHTFUL Book! George Hamilton is still Mr. Charming! (2008-11-18) This was a delightful book to read! I inherited my love of George Hamilton from my mother who was a young fan in the early 60 s when I was born. While All the Fine Young Cannibals may be listed as one of the worst films, she loved it and I learned to love it and his other films. I was expecting a standard movie star autobiography and was pleasantly surprised. With his wit and candor, Hamilton tells of his dysfuctional childhood and does not blame it for everything that happened in his life. How refreshi...
#Georgian Elegance (2008-11-17) I only bought George Hamilton s memoir, DON T MIND IF IF I DO, because I had finished Tony Curtis new memoir and I was shocked at how distasteful Tony seemed. I was curious, then, to compare his report with a report by one of his cohorts, though Hamilton is about 15 years younger than Curtis. I knew next to nothing about George Hamilton when I started this book, other than that during those times I had seen him on television, he had appeared to be clever and charming, self-deprecating and funny. It turns out that Hamilton is all of these things and mo...
#Class act, George (2008-11-14) If I wasn t exactly a fan of George Hamilton before, I definitely am now! The first chapter, relating his stint on Dancing with the Stars, was worth the price of the book, alone. I was laughing out loud. And I kept on laughing throughout the rest of this well-written story. What a great outlook on life and family he has, with no apologies to anyone. A thoroughly enjoyable read. And, I agree, the only downside was that it wasn t long enough. I could have gone on forever reading about his exploits and adventures!
#Good, By George ! (2008-11-11) It s just downright hard not to like George Hamilton. I ve been a fan for years, and was anxious to read his book. It s very entertaining and I learned a lot more about him. Since I d never read much about his childhood, I had thought he was probably raised in the Hamptons, or at least someplace rich. But I was surprised to learn that he was born in Blythville, Ark. and all through the book, he kept coming back to the fact that he was just a southern boy. I like that about him. He is proud of his southern heritage. His family was interesting, ...
#Famous for what? (2008-11-07) I had read excerpts from this book in Vanity Fair and other publications and eagerly looked forward to it. I was quite disappointed. Although his life was certainly interesting his writing style was more like a list of events rather than an engaging story. In real life he never quite achieved stardom so his book reads like Little Me by Patrick Dennis. A fictional autobiography of a female actress who s career never quite took off but writes as if she were a star. Mr. Hamilton seems to have the same affliction but his, unfortunately, is not a witty...

After six multi-platinum albums, seven consecutive Billboard Top 20 albums, and four Billboard Top Ten singles, Motley Crue are the undisputed heavyweight champs of rock music. Since the 80s they ve been the voice of a barely pubescent Generation X, the anoited High Priests of pentagram rock, pioneers of Hollywood Glam and the creators of MTV s first power ballad. Their ravenous sexual appetites consumed celebrities from Heather Locklear to Pamela Anderson to Lita Ford, while their legendary scuffles involved everyone from Axl Rose to 2 Live Crew. Now, for the first time, the most influential, enduring and iconic rock band of the 1980s reveals everything in a tell-all of epic proportions. They ve collected automatic weapons, pushed the envelope of total drug abuse and dreamt up backstage antics that would make Ozzy Osbourne blanch with modesty. They are the trailblazers of modern excess. Provocatively written and brilliantly designed, this book includes never-before-seen photos and be...

#Rock n Roll Raunch (2008-11-09) Very detailed accounts of sex drugs and Rock N Roll. Appaulling! These are some nasty guys! Defanitely a page turner though. I will always remember this vivid book.
#What an amazing book! (2008-10-20) This book exceeded my expectations. I had just finished Slash and thought that this book could not come close to it. I was wrong! It s amazing the lifestyle these guys had. Not only do you get an inside look at all the craziness, but you also feel like you get to know them personally. Awesome book!
#GREAT READ!!!! (2008-10-02) Certainly, will be more enjoyable for Crue fans. However, I can t imagine anyone reading this book and not being entertained.
#Crazy stuff (2008-09-01) I didn t know much about the crue before i read this book. But it s a riviting book with entertaining tales of crazy far-out rock n roll lifestyles. A good read.
#Amazing (2008-08-31) I just finished reading the The Dirt and it was, honest to God, one of the most compelling books I have ever read. I am a huge Motley Crue fan but the great thing about this book is that you don t have to be a fan, heck you don t even have to like music to enjoy this book. This book is about music, but just barely. There is a little bit about Nikki Sixx and how he came up with lyrics and such but other than that there s not much about the music itself. This book is very different from Aerosmith s Walk This Way and Slash s autobiography. Those books have a good...
