#Enlightening (2008-11-23) After hearing about this book from someone, I really felt to get it. It did not disappoint. This woman had an incredible journey that changed her life forever. I could identify with so many different aspects of her process, I really enjoyed it. I was amazed how much I could identify with her about, even though recently I had just had a fractured arm, nothing like her experience, but, many things changed anyway. I would recommend this book to everyone.
#Review of My stroke of Insight by Jill Bolte Taylor, PhD (2008-11-23) I enjoyed this book tremendously. I saw the author, Jill Bole Taylor, interviewed on Oprah prior to ordering the book, and was intrigued by her story. There were a lot of technical references and maybe a little too indepth description of how the neurons connct with each other, etc. . . . . . , however the life changing information I took from this book, (understanding the effects of positive/negative energy on the patient, knowing I can personally control my thought processes without going through a brain trauma...
#My Stroke of Insight - adds insight into stroke patients minds. (2008-11-22) Reading My Stroke of Insight gave me incredible insight into what it must be like to be in the mind of a stroke patient. I wish I would have known about this book while my dad was still alive. He suffered through several strokes and died in July. It gave one a new perspective on what a stroke patient is going through, which would help a love one and caregiver provide empathy for the patient. The end of the book makes you realize that we humans spend way too much time on things that do not matter and w...
#My Stoke of Insight (2008-11-20) It is a very good book related to the stoke caregivers. It has a lot of information related to recovery and get help.
#Sometimes repetative, but worthwhile.... (2008-11-19) My husband is at risk for a stroke sometime within his life time (already had a very minor one), and so I read this book seeking the detailed information promised by a scientist. The best information was to be patient, look the patient in the eyes, speak quietly and slowly over and over if necessary, stay positive and detail oriented, and develop daily plans. Good information, but sometimes too much repeat information. I also wished that the author had used less contrast description when talking about her first day and week af...

#Comforting information for caregivers (2008-09-30) This book has many useful suggestions and shows a deep understanding of the challenges of caregiving for someone with dementia. It was comforting to read the short descriptions of situations and how to react to them. It made me less irritable with caring for my relative. I plan to get another copy to have available for when I meet other people who face the same issues.
#The 36-hour day (2008-09-02) A truly remarkable and instructional guide for care givers of people with dementia or alzheimers. So much of what was going on in my mother s life at this stage, began to make sense to me and I was better prepared to help her. Great book!Nuria FernandezChicago
#Very Helpful. (2008-08-31) An extremely helpful book for those who are experiencing dementia and/or Alzheimer s with a loved one. You are not alone! And all those strange things that are happening are not out of the ordinary for the condition. This book covers the basics, and provides helpful suggestions for living with, caring for, and coping with dementia and your love one.
#A must read (2008-08-04) This is an excellent book. It is written in a warm and caring manner which is easy to understand. It is full of information not just for anyone dealing with a dementia patient, but for anybody who is caring for another person, (or who may think at some point they will). It covers subjects which apply to the caring of anyone who is ill and/or elderly, even if it is not dementia. I would recommend this book to anyone, before they are faced with the illness. I wish I d read it sooner, but better late than never. Absolutely a great book, it should be in...

#Outstanding Book! (2008-10-20) This book was given to me a s a gift from my ex-wife as a gift when I got re-married. She said it would help me keep this one, and she was right! I ve sonce re-purchased the book many times to help friends with adult A. D. D. learn to survive and turn this misunderstood disorder into a strength, if not at least teaching them to live and work well with others.
#Incredibly helpful!!! (2008-10-17) I bought this book because I m always looking for solutions to the problem, not just diagnosis of the problem. This is a very practical, pragmatic, reality based book. With every issues mentioned for ADD, the author gives ways to address it to help the one dealing with ADD. I learned things I did not know, such as the issues dealing with time/space and why this occurs. This is a must read for anyone with ADD or who lives in the same house with an ADD member. Tons of information - once you begin to read, you can t put it down.
#You Mean I m not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy? (2008-08-29) This book is great. I now realize what my problem was when I was younger. Everything is finally making sense. It is a great book for people that have ADD people as friends, family and partners to learn what the life is like for a person dealing with ADD. Really glad I purchased the book. You should too.
#Best of Intentions Gone Awry (2008-07-24) If you have recently been told that your ability to organize and process information is severely impaired by ADHD then you should NOT attempt to read this book. The formal features of Kelly and Ramundo s work make it obvious that the publishers did not take any cues from their writers about how to help ADHD readers with learning disabilities cope in an intimidating world of words! The book is impossible to access because: A) Small comic like font B) Letters too close together, C) Sentences with a narrow space between sentences, D) Dark s...
#I really wanted to like this (2008-05-13) An OK book, but I wouldn t recommend it as your first book to read on ADD. Better to check out Delivered From Distraction. I really wanted to like this book. The authors seem like nice, dedicated people. But I found little of use in the book, except for the last few chapters. I ve noticed that I have this problem with ADD books written by people with ADD: but where Dr. Hallowell s book is also piecemeal and all over the place, he gives you important information, and things you can use. There was a little of that in this book, but I feel...

#If you have a family member with Alzheimer, you need this book (2008-10-30) If you have a family member with this disease, you need this book. It will make your life better!
#The 36-Hour Day - A helpful book about memory loss in old age (2008-10-30) I bought this book for the first time a number of years ago at the request of my mother, who wanted me to understand what she was dealing with when my stepfather developed Alzheimer s disease. It was so helpful to me at that time that I recently bought another copy to give to friends whose mother appears to be becoming confused.
#The 36-Hour Day: A Family Guide to Caring for Persons with Alzheimer Disease, Related Dementing Illnesses, and Memory Loss (2008-10-15) This book had been recommended to me. I bought the book as a gift for a care giver. The care giver said the book was very informative.
#Excellent Resource (2008-08-25) I purchased this book for my mother who is taking care of someone with Alzheimber s Disease. She found it an excellent resource for accomplishing day to day activities such as eating, bathing, using the bathroom and keeping her occupied through the day.
#A God-Send (2008-08-03) This books was first published in 1981 and again in 1991 and 1999. When my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 1995, I became aware of this book and purchased copies for my four siblings and my father. It was a God-send to us, as we learned quite a lot about the desease and the day to day caring for her. One thing I learned was no matter how many times she would repeat and repeat and repeat the same story, I would just say oh, really and just let her go on and on. Previously, I would say things like mom, you already TOLD me this a million times. Th...

In the midst of a worldwide epidemic of autism, ADD, and ADHD, this book is a message of hope to parents embarking on the challenging journey of finding proper medical care for their Autism Spectrum Disorder children. Genetic susceptibility activated by triggers such as pesticides and heavy metals in vaccines can lead to immune system impairment, gut dysfunction, and pathogen invasion such as yeast and viruses in many children. This is the first book written by an experienced clinician that gives a step-by-step treatment guide for parents and doctors based on the understanding that ASD is a complex biomedical illness resulting in significant brain malnutrition. Dr. McCandless, whose grandchild with autism has inspired her broad spectrum approach, describes important diagnostic tools needed to select appropriate treatment programs. Her book explains major therapies newly available and identifies safe and effective options for parents and physicians working together to improve the health...

#This book explains it all! (2008-10-11) This is the first book I read when my son was diagnosed at age 3 and I m so glad I did. Although there are many great books about various therapies available (and I do think therapy is important), the medical problems autistic children have are very real, and with proper treatment can greatly improve their outcome. The GFCF diet is essential and the book explains the science behind it. Read this with an open mind. It may not be a cure for everyone but if you want to do the most you possibly can for your autistic child this will start you...
#Great book!!! (2008-10-03) I ve just started the GFCF diet, and an attempt to understand what goes on with future treatment, and this book is great!!!
#Really helpful book! (2008-09-16) I have read a lot of books about autism. This one has been by far the most helpful one!
#Excellent! (2008-09-15) This book is a must-read for any health professional and parent involved in the care of a child with ASD or related disorder. I would urge all pediatric gastroenterologists to read this - the biochemistry will make sense to you!
#Defeat Autism Now Practitioner Review (2008-09-05) I am a new DC and also certified in the Defeat Autism Now! Biomedical Intervention. I have just received the book and really enjoyed the chapter on Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. I think it is spot on and very concise. I have included mHBOT in my clinic and after reading Dr. Neubranders chapter as well as several other books I am very excited to see it added here. This book is required reading in my office especially for new parents. Susan Anschutz, DC, Lee s Summit Mo
