A hilarious blast of scathing irreverence from the award-winning actor and comedian.“A pissed off Leary is the best Leary,” says one critic of the writer and comic. In Why We Suck, Dr. Denis Leary uses his common sense, and his biting and hilarious take on the world, to attack the politically correct, the hypocritical, the obese, the thin--basically everyone who takes themselves too seriously. He does so with the extra oomph of a doctorate bestowed upon him by his alma mater Emerson College. “Sure it’s just a celebrity type of thing--they only gave it to me because I’m famous.” Leary explains. “But it’s legal and it means I get to say I’m a doctor--just like Dr. Phil.” In Why We Suck, Leary’s famously smart style and sardonic wit have found their fullest and fiercest expression yet. Zeroing in on the ridiculous wherever he finds it, Leary unravels his Irish Catholic upbringing, the folly of celebrity, the pressures of family life, and the great hypocrisy of politi...

#Denis, we don t suck, but you do. (2008-11-22) You suck because you are earning money from the suffering of children and adults with autism. Your it was taken out of context defense doesn t fly. I ve read your book, and the context makes it even worse. You knock an adult with aspergers who has made real contributions in his profession, who has broadened the understanding of autism with his book, and who has selflessly undergone experimental therapy at Harvard, which may benefit many with autism in the future. You spew your ignorance by proclaiming that adults with aspergers ...
#Dennis Leary Sucks (2008-11-20) Dennis Leary was once one of the funniest stabd-up comics in the world. Nowhe is one of the worst writers. Not a very smart trade Dennis. With mattersof psychiatry,it s best left to phychiarist s. With matters of prose andnon-fiction it s best left people who know the writing craft. Leary didn tpiss-off the parents and charitable organizations who deal with autisticchildren because he doesn t believe autism is a real disability-he pissedthem off because his writing is worse than a person with autism or anyother mind damaging disease. Leary is afflict...
#Hate to say it, but this was Terrible... (2008-11-20) There really is nothing more to say. This book was just awfully, horribly and sadly unoriginal. I used to enjoy Leary s standup* But it s pretty clear he s merely jumping on the celebrities-as-authors (because they don t have enough money, and think people care about their opinions, or that their opinions are worth anyone s time) bandwagon, which is just shameful. IF this book was at all funny then I could stand him recycling his same old jokes, provided that there was new, complimentary, relevant or actually funny material (...
#Finally, GOD has spoken to us dumb americans! (2008-11-20) This book is absolutely wonderful. americans are dumb and big corporations love it. they advertise, and we are like dumb zombies to buy and buy and too lazy to do the research. Denis nailed it. . . . and i love the book. facing stupidity is not bad, its keeping stupidity that makes you stupid so as a lazy and dumb american, i faced my stupidity by reading this book.
#Couldn t stop laughing (2008-11-19) Hilarious. The kind of biting comedy that could only come from Denis Leary. The book tackles some of the most absurd things about our culture in a very funny and un-PC way. I would definitely recommend this book.

#hilarious (2008-11-16) great book, this is hilarious you really have to have watched the show How i met your mother to understand the book but this is a wonderful item for any younger male they will much appreciate it
#Priceless humor for any fan of the show (2008-11-10) This book isn t some quick, half-hearted cash-in for How I Met Your Mother Fans, it s basically Barney Stinson in paperback form. The Bro Code is hilarious. If you re a fan of the show you ll likely hear Neil Patrick Harris voice in your head as you read the book cover-to-cover. With diagrams, footnotes, and over 150 codes written by the show s writers, this is a can t miss book.
#Hilarious (2008-11-09) Very funny little book for any man or anyone who watches How I Met Your Mother
#BROTASTIC! (2008-11-05) Bro,Truly a must for everyone from Aspiring-Bro to Broet-laureate. This Book of Bros will fully explain the intricacies of the brocabulary, the history, and the code itself. Includes original text of the first Bro Code written in the mid 1700 s, all Articles of said current Bro Code as well as all ammendments currently in effect. All Bros MUST own/worship this volume (book doesn t cut it). SIDENOTE: since you haven t bought it, I will inform you that upon reading Article 4 of this sacred document you will understand my urge for you to puchase the following ...
#A bunch of bros (2008-10-28) I bought this book along with Brocabulary for my semi-retarded (in a good way) younger brother. Weirdly, I ended up reading both of them. Mostly because I m a fan of How I Met Your Mother, but I was surprised that Brocab made me laugh out loud. And if my real bro thinks like these bros, he s even more retarded than I thought.

Louisiana cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has her hands full dealing with every sort of undead and paranormal creature imaginable. And after being betrayed by her longtime vampire love, Sookie must not only deal with a new man in her life-the shapeshifter Quinn-but also contend with the long-planned vampire summit. The summit is a tense situation. The vampire queen of Louisiana is in a precarious position, her power base weakened by hurricane damage to New Orleans. And there are some vamps who would like to finish what nature started. Soon, Sookie must decide what side she ll stand with. And her choice may mean the difference between survival and all-out catastrophe.

#Great Book (2008-11-15) I love this series of books. . . . just cant put it down. Its like a vampire fairy tale!
#Good but not Great (2008-11-13) Having read the whole series over the past couple of months I expected to love this book as much as the previous 6, only it didn t work out that way. The first hundred pages or so flew by - Sookie trying to explain the concept of baby and bridal showers to Pam was really funny. Also, Pam dispensing corny advice based on her fascination with Dear Abby was a hoot. Once Sookie departed for the Vampire Summit I found myself losing interest. Could be just personal preference, I enjoy reading about Bon Temps. Also, the scenes involving her love inte...
#After discovery the Sookie Stackhouse series.. (2008-11-11) Is ran through all of them as fast as Amazon could deliver them! Can t wait for the continuation (and hope HBO continues the True Blood series).
#Loved Charlaine Harris s Book (2008-11-11) This book provides a little mistery mixed with a little romance. It is suspensful enough that you want to read the entire series and see what Sookie Stackhouse will be up to next. If you love the show on HBO True Blood based off the book series, than you ll love the books even better.
#All Together Dead (2008-10-30) Book 7 of the Southern vampier mysteries. I have to hand it to Charlaine Harris. She reeled me in within the first 10 pages of Book 1 (Dead after Dark) and the hold is unforgiving. All Together Dead did not disappoint. I never try to solve the mystery in her books, instead, I allow myself to be completely engulfed until the author sees fit to release me from the hold. Pure reading pleasure.

Dear Prospective Book Buyer, Publishing types tell me that if you re reading this, it means you re looking for a reason to buy this book. Personally, I think the eye-catching cover shot of me in my pajamas is reason enough. (By the way, those are my real kids on the cover, and yes, those are my actual ankles. No, I m not retaining water.) What you re holding in your hands is a very funny and sometimes remarkably poignant look at fathers, not from the mother s point of view or the child s, but from the dad s side. Which is why it s called Tales from the Dad Side. It s filled with stories of what it s like to be a dad and a son, from a child s first day of kindergarten to the awkward sex talk and right up to the day the always-practical dad tries to pay for college with bonus miles. I was there for every landmark in my children s lives, except the day I was on the riding lawn mower and missed my son s first words, which my wife insists were “trust fund.” As children get older, the le...

#Doocey s observations on fatherhood put Ray Romano to shame. (2008-11-22) I want to add to the unanimous nauseating praise for this book. Steve Doocy has proven himself to be a courageous journalist, brilliant humorist, expert political commentator and literary genius. With the release of this highly entertaining and provocative book, Doocy can now also lay claim to being the funniest chronicler of the foibles and triumphs (mostly foibles, ha, ha, ha!) of fatherhood. Excuse me, I feel a little barf about to come. I ll be back to heap more praise on Doocy and this great book.
#Great follow-up to Mr and Mrs Happy Handbook (2008-11-18) Steve Doocy has done it again with Tales from the Dad Side book. It is real life, funny, and full of great stories that match my own experiences. This book should be turned into a weekly sitcom. I wouldn t expect any less from Steve Doocy, whom I love to watch on Fox and Friends where he shares his life along with the news. Get this book and laugh, smile and share with your own family and friends!
#Disappointing (2008-11-18) I m only about half way through this book as it is not what I expected and doesn t hold my interest as anticipated. So far, nary a chuckle. The author spends more time talking about himself and his childhood then he does about the topic of a father raising children. He has talent as a writer, but the title of the book is deceiving.
#Great read for Dads of all ages! (2008-11-18) I bought this because my I like Steve Doocy and his easy going manner and as a gift for my husband. I also have two sons who have just become fathers and thought they would enjoy this book. I read it and laughed out loud! I can relate to so many incidents, funny and sad, that Doocy described in the book and know my sons and husband will as well. Each of the boys will get a copy for Christmas. It s refreshing to read something that makes us feel good all over.
#I laughed and cried (2008-11-17) Steve Doocy and I have a lot in common (other than the fact that he s taller, younger, better-looking, and makes a lot more money). We both have wonderful wives, three kids, with a son the oldest, and who is going to Villanova (mine graduated in 1994). This book brought back a lot of memories, from when I was a kid, to the days of my own childrens births, and their subsequent growing up years. There are many, many extremely funny episodes in the book, and my loud guffaws were really annoying my wife, who was trying to read her own book. Also, there...

THE EAGERLY AWAITED COLLECTION OF PERSONAL ESSAYS FROM THE BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF MY HORIZONTAL LIFEWhen Chelsea Handler needs to get a few things off her chest, she appeals to a higher power -- vodka. You would too if you found out that your boyfriend was having an affair with a Peekapoo or if you had to pretend to be honeymooning with your father in order to upgrade to first class. Welcome to Chelsea s world -- a place where absurdity reigns supreme and a quick wit is the best line of defense. In this hilarious, deliciously skewed collection, Chelsea mines her past for stories about her family, relationships, and career that are at once singular and ridiculous. Whether she s convincing her third-grade class that she has been tapped to play Goldie Hawn s daughter in the sequel to Private Benjamin, deciding to be more egalitarian by dating a redhead, or looking out for a foulmouthed, rum-swilling little person who looks just like her...only smaller, Chelsea has a knack for getting herse...

#Hilarity at its finest! (2008-11-20) If you can read this book without constantly laughing out loud, you have no sense of humor. This book is great!
#funny! (2008-11-18) this book was highly addictive. it was an easy read and kept me laughing. chelsea is absolutely wonderful and i recommend this book for anyone who loves her and anyone who is curious about her. this book gives a lot of insight into chelsea s personality
#hilarious (2008-11-16) This book is amazing. Her antidotes are so outrageous and funny. It is a really good way to juxtapose a stressful life by reading a few pages.
#Kathy Griffin on ludes (2008-11-14) I almost didn t buy this book because The New York Times review mentioned Kathy Griffin. The everywoman spirit of Kathy Griffin is what s quoted on Amazon but I remember the wording slightly differently. Rest assured Chelsea Handler is nothing like Kathy Griffin. Or Sarah Silverman. Or Tina Fey. It s like the NYT tried to just drop in every comedy it girl it could think of. Get a thesaurus. Of people. Chelsea is a comedian and her essays don t scuttle even as close to the thought-provoking tree as, say, David Sedaris. I have to admit...
#I HEART CHELSEA! (2008-11-10) this is honestly the funniest book i have ever read. i was at home by myself laughing histerically! i have even bought a couple for gifts. i absolutely LOVED it!
