This introductory textbook has several distinctive features: a strong emphasis on the scriptural basis for each doctrine, clear writing, with technical terms kept to a minimum, and a contemporary approach.

#Very Readable (2008-10-05) This book has been very encouraging in studying theology. It covers many topics, can be understood by the average person. In fact it was written with that purpose in mind. It does hold views, but also points out other views. Seems fairly objective. He s not derogatory or opinionated in style or fashion. I highly recommend this book even if doctrinally I don t always agree.
#Read with discernment (2008-10-02) very good and very thorough but as with all things, remember, this is not the gospel and we must search the scriptures for ourselves and with the leading of the holy spirit and prayer, arrive at our own conclusions.
#Outstanding and Unsurpassed (2008-08-26) The title of my Review says it all, and since there are already over 130 Reviews, I will make this short. This is simply the best comprehensive modern systematic theology in one volume on the market I have seen in 40 years of ministry. Why? It covers charismatic, evangelical, historical, liturgical and every other angle theologically, is reader friendly, loaded with footnotes and references from every Christian persuasion, and yet not avoiding thorny and difficult topics usually only tackled by very independent writers. No wonder it has so...
#Doctrine (2008-07-26) The study of doctrine should be important to any professing Christian. Understanding what you believe is essential. I have yet to read all through this book but plan on going through it in the next year. I am greatly looking forward to it.
#Thank God (2008-07-14) This a fantastic book!,Imagine a book on Theology for everyman to enjoy,From the scholar to the layperson, everyone can enjoy understanding who God is. And this gentleman seems to write from a perspective of really loving God and people too, without any desire to impress anyone with his knowledge as Mr Grudem could easily do,This is a masterpiece and I cannot overemphasize how enjoyable and solid this hefty volume is,We need more men like this to break down these wonderful truths for us and yet they are still as meaty and can be as deep as you need to go with them,...

THE POWER OF THE NEW TESTAMENT. THE PASSION OF THE PSALMS. THE WISDOM OF THE PROVERBS. Many people assume that a book about a holy God should sound elevated, stately, and ceremonial. #Handy and easier to use (2008-11-11) I really like this little reference. The size is just right and the text is large enough to be easy to read without squinting. Having the New testament, Psalms and Proverbs together in one small portable reference is especially useful. I enjoy the freshness of the Message. It gives one another angle to view scripture and often gives surprising insight into difficult passages. Finally, I really enjoy the insight the book introductions provide as they are so right on. Well done NavPress, well done!
#The Message by Eugene Peterson(the Bible in Contemporary language) (2008-10-11) For the first time I could understand pretty much every line and verse I come across in Eugene Peterson s Bible in contemporary language. The paraphrasing really made an huge difference to help clarify things for me!
#The Message Bible, numbered edition (2008-10-06) I received the Message Bible in a timely fashion and it was as described. It s a great paraphrase of the bible and very readible and understandable.
#The Message: The Bible In Comtemporary Language, Large Print Numbered Edition (2008-10-05) I Love this Bible. Anyone that has trouble understanding the King James Version will enjoy reading it. It is plain spoken and easy to understand. I use the New King James version as my main source and read this along side of it.
#Very awesome commentary (2008-09-08) I got this Bible because I really needed to get jazzed up about reading the Word again. This is exactly what I needed at the time. This is NOT the Bible, but a paraphrase - understand that. It is not meant to be used as the Bible, but a tool for inspiration and study, kind of like a commentary. I find it very helpful and useful as such. Sometimes the language is hit or miss. When it is good it is good, and I can really savor God s love even more in those verses. At worst, it takes scripture out of context or misinterprets it, and while that i...

#excellent study tool (2008-09-29) I love this concordance. It makes studying the bible enjoyable and fun because it is so easy to look things up. I love the ease of Strong s number system. Don t ponder over whether or not to buy it. Just do it!
#strong s exhaustive concordance (2008-09-20) I have been in the book business for 27 years, and for the last 15 dealt with Amazon. In April we sold our bookstore, but I still absolutely love Amazon, the way they do business, and this product was just another great transaction with AMAZON. I really love you guys. #A tool every Christian should own (2008-08-26) Strong s is the concordance for looking up any word in the Bible. Lets put it this way, if you want to know how many times and where the word the or A is in the Bible, this book lists it! Incredible! Numbered Hebrew and Greek words with definitions. The only other thing you need is a Greek interlinear Bible that s numbered to the Strong s and you re set.
#Unlimited Possibilities (2008-07-20) Strong s Concordance provides a way to study words Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic -- the languages of the the Bible -- without knowing these languages. It was designed for people who need this kind of help. It has other uses also. Sometimes I have a verse of scripture in mind, but I cannot remember all of it or the precise meaning. I want to recall the exact words. If I can think of a single word that is unusual, a word likely to be found in only a few specific passages, I can use the word to find the verse by looking in the concordance. The...

#emmett fox (2008-09-14) This book was written long ago, but is absolutely timeless. Very much needed in today s world. I highly recommend this.
#excellent (2008-08-14) A must read that clarifies the truth that has been twisted and distorted by organized relegion.
#The only spiritual book you ll ever need. (2008-07-10) Emmet Fox once paid Florence Scoville Schinn (see The Game of Life and How to Play It) a great compliment by writing that her works were accessible even to those who did not wish to devote their attention to deeper study. I believe that s true also of The Sermon on the Mount. For Christians seeking deeper faith and understanding without committing years to reading the Bible, attending weekly church services, or joining a Bible study group, try this book. Since I was little, I ve felt strongly that Jesus is my link to joy and kn...
#Unbelievable! (2008-05-31) This book is one I treasure above many others. I read it at least once yearly, whenever I am feeling alone in the world or a little too sorry for myself! It has truly changed my thinking, and my life as a result. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
#The Sermon on the Mount by Emmet Fox (2008-05-08) Whether you believe in Christ or not, this is one must read book. Over the years, it has given me great comfort and wisdom to make it through some very tough times.

Shocked by the Bible sets the record straight with well-researched, controversial, myth-breaking assertions about what the Bible really does-and doesn t-say. Myths and misconceptions about the Bible s content abound, and churchgoing Christians are often as confused as everyone else. Fed up with this lack of public knowledge, author Joe Kovacs has compiled some of the most crucial information for correcting people s faulty education on what the Bible really says. If readers have ever wondered about God, the Bible, or the meaning of life, and are just not satisfied with the answers they ve received-or if they want to learn what the Bible really says on troubling questions-Shocked by the Bible is an essential resource for helping both Christians and non-Christians alike. Kovacs says, If people actually knew what is in their Bible-the nonstop sex and violence, the hilarious comedy, and the astounding facts their pastors never told them-they d rush to crack it open and get the surprise of...

#Did you know... (2008-11-22) I am a detail person so I enjoyed the authors attention to details he could have glossed over, I particularly like his commentary and the style of voice. I liked that he used several different sources for the bible. I love religious books too, all religions really, not just my own so that helped. So I just might be a tad bias in that area. I find religion in general facinating so if you don t this review might not help you. I do think this book would be an excellent one for people questioning their faith as it outlines faith in a way and makes people r...
#Thank GOD someone dared to be honest! (2008-11-19) Joe Kovacs takes the facts in the bible to a whole new level. He has the courage to be forward and tell it like it is. For those who have ACTUALLY read the book they found out that there are a lot of subjects in the bible that are never spoken of at church or anywhere. I believe that if God had it written, it was intended to be read and talked about. Nothing is candy-coated. I am excited about the truth and relevance this book provides. I feel the only reason why anyone might give it a negative review is because of the convi...
#Shocking (2008-11-07) You know what s really shocking? Wondering why you just don t read the bible. Then I guess you wouldn t need this book. I have a shocking fact for you also. Jesus says he was a minister of the circumcision. Jesus also taught to keep the commandments. He taught baptism. Paul taught we are under grace not the law and Jesus taught the law. Rightly divide the word of truth and you won t need this book. Realize that Paul give us the gospel today of the grace of God. Not Jesus words in red. Now that s shocking! A risen savior gives Paul his gospel. Not th...
#Not what you expect (2008-10-28) At one point, this book takes care to create a strange distinction, that none of the Bible s people before Judah are actually Jews. I can not make guesses at the author s reason for furthering such an esoteric interpretation of the Bible in this one instance, in order to distance modern Christianity from Judaism, when to-the-letter literalism holds sway everywhere else, but I didn t much care for it.
#Superficial Book for the Scripturally Ignorant (2008-10-21) This is yet another private interpretation of God s word that doesn t stand up to context of the Bible, Jewish Tradition, Christian Tradition (meaning Godly, not man-made), and is literalist in nature. For instance, using the author s mode of interpreting, he would tell you that Raining Cats and Dogs actually meant cats and dogs falling from the sky. Essentially, it s ignorance for the Scripturally ignorant. Please be wise and learn what the Scriptures really teach, by the infallible teacher, not from someone who arr...
