#Handy and easier to use (2008-11-11) I really like this little reference. The size is just right and the text is large enough to be easy to read without squinting. Having the New testament, Psalms and Proverbs together in one small portable reference is especially useful. I enjoy the freshness of the Message. It gives one another angle to view scripture and often gives surprising insight into difficult passages. Finally, I really enjoy the insight the book introductions provide as they are so right on. #The Message by Eugene Peterson(the Bible in Contemporary language) (2008-10-11) For the first time I could understand pretty much every line and verse I come across in Eugene Peterson s Bible in contemporary language. The paraphrasing really made an huge difference to help clarify things for me!

#nikkigrant (2008-11-01) I purchased the leatherbound version. I found the various commentaries throughout this Bible very interesting. My only complaint is, for me at least, it is hard to read. The art work at the start of each book shows through the pages. I find it distracting and hard for me to focus on the print. Otherwise, I love this Bible.

#Excellent Bible (2008-08-29) I love this bible and highly recommend it. I have the leather bound bible and love the layout and format. In addition, it s very easy to read. The articles and notes are impressive. However, I would have to agree with some of the other reviews in that given the list of authors, contributors, scholars, etc. , I expected the articles to be more in depth. Overall, a very good bible. I would also suggest the Archeological Study Bible for anyone seeking the truth.

#Great study tool (2008-08-11) I really like this book. It has lots of commentaries,lots of explanations of the biblical customs and is in general perfect for my studies. I use this in conjunction with the Biblical Illustrator, from Lifeway, to get the most out of my Bible studies. I liked this book so well, I bought another as a gift.

#My Expectations (2008-11-11) The Complete Jewish Bible is a very good text to include in ones s library. It is more of a paraphrase than a literal word for word translation and its strength is that it gives one an understanding of the Hebraic mindset when reading the text. #Accurate and Attractive (2008-10-05) The ESV seems to be a very accurate translation. It does not always read like contemporary English, but sometimes that s an advantage because it makes one stop and think about what one is reading. I really appreciate the way Crossway has some beautiful covers for these Bibles. I d gotten tired of black and burgundy!

I cannot see how this book can really benefit anyone other than a complete amateur. But. . . the grammatical information for the Greek text really is quite useful. #this version of The Message is disappointing (2008-10-18) This version of The Message (and it s not about the message) is that the print is so very small that even young eyes cannot read it. It s small and compact. . . so if you d like to use it for travel, that would be good. But, if you re intending to use this in a more public setting and for study the print size is a handicap. Unfortunately, that was my plan and had ordered (and planned to order more) multiple copies which I had to return.
