The astonishing, uplifting story of a real-life Indiana Jones and his humanitarian campaign to use education to combat terrorism in the Taliban’s backyard Anyone who despairs of the individual’s power to change lives has to read the story of Greg Mortenson, a homeless mountaineer who, following a 1993 climb of Pakistan’s treacherous K2, was inspired by a chance encounter with impoverished mountain villagers and promised to build them a school. Over the next decade he built fifty-five schools—especially for girls—that offer a balanced education in one of the most isolated and dangerous regions on earth. As it chronicles Mortenson’s quest, which has brought him into conflict with both enraged Islamists and uncomprehending Americans, Three Cups of Tea combines adventure with a celebration of the humanitarian spirit.

#Just Amazing (2008-11-23) One of the most touching books I have read in a long time. It is just amazing how much we can do with a little bit of financial help to these NGO s like CIA. I have decided to become a regular contributor of these noble cause, just because of this book. You have to read it, you will never regret you did.
#Inspiring (2008-11-22) What an inspiring book! This is a great read about what one person can do with a vision and very little resources. His tenacity is incredible. Hooray for Greg Mortenson!
#Would have been a great article (2008-11-19) This is a tale about a remarkable man - unfortunately it is not very well written. Even tho the action takes place in different towns, it is basically the same story over and over. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in building schools for the poor in Pakistan and also as an aid to sleeplessness.
#3 and a half stars (2008-11-19) The story itself was quite amazing but I found it difficult to read at times. I think it could have been much shorter. . . I could not keep all of the people straight about halfway through the book. It must have been difficult to write this book with so many stories to tell but it bordered on boring and tedious at times. It would pick up for a while and then I d be bleary-eyed again a few pages later. I really liked the beginning of the story and felt connected to his mission and promise but then I started to think he was a bit off (good inten...
#No wonder it unanimously gets 5 stars (2008-11-18) Truly one of the most inspirational books I have read in awhile. The beginning of this book is a little slow, focusing on Greg Mortenson s climbing expeditions that eventually leads him to find the people of Korphe, and promising them a school. After coming back to the states and scrounging up funds from philanthropists, Mortenson goes back and builds many schools in various regions through Pakistan/Afghanistan/Waziristan. And the story of his determination and the struggles he goes through are extremely inspirational. There is no o...

#USEFUL FOR BEGINNERS! (2008-11-19) This book is very good for people who wuold like to start their preparation for the GMAT. You have enough exercices and and a useful section (explanations) about math, algebra and geometry. After, if you need a more brilliant preparation you need to practice on GMAT 800. I m Italian and when I started to read GMAT 800 (by KEPLAN) I found it harder (contents and language).
#so-so (2008-11-17) I wasnt totally happy w/ this book. As other readers have posted there are countless errors in the math sections. For example on page 335 of the 11th edition they say (xr)^2 = x^(2r). This is hard to look over as a typo - as are other errors. There are also no full-length exams in this book. I mean, come-on, why are the GMAC guys such tight-wads with their questions. I dont really like they way they run the show. . .
#Good book but with some typo s (2008-11-10) Math section has many typo s (more than 10 for sure), use google to find the corrections. Apart from that its good.
#Great source for practice questions, but not good for theory review (2008-11-10) This book should be the first one you buy during your GMAT prep as it contains retired GMAT questions from past exams - this gives you a much better feel for the types of questions you are likely to encounter on the day. There are plenty of questions to practice with in both the quant and verbal sections - although beware that if you are also purchasing the old exams from the [. . . ] that some of these will be replicated. The real weakness with this book is with the level of detail in reviews. Parti...
#No longer useful as it once was (2008-11-07) GMAT has changed a lot over the last 3 years and the materials in this book are no longer as useful as they once was. Most of the questions in this book are over 10 years old and they share approximately 90% of the questions with the 10th edition. The result is the difficulty level and types of questions contained in this book are no longer fully reflective of the questions one will receive in the real GMAT. If you need proof, download GMAT Prep (just google it) from the providers of the GMAT and you will see the GMAT Prep questions are ...

This is the story of a very hungry caterpillar growing into a beautiful butterfly.

#the book is very small (2008-11-19) Didn t realize this was a mini-version of the book till I received it. It s about the size of an adult s hand (fingertip to palm). Doesn t make the best gift.
#Never received (2008-10-26) I remember loving this book as a child, so I was so excited to order it for my kindergarten class. Unfortunately, I purchased the book and never received it. Be careful what you order!
#Very hungry (2008-10-24) Great product. I was hard to find. But of course, I found it on Amazon.
#fun book for toddlers (2008-10-24) Eric Carle s books are very enjoyable for toddlers and young readers. Children enjoy listening to the stories and participating in the story. He is one of my favorite authors.
#The Very Hungry Caterpillar (2008-10-15) The Very Hungry Caterpillar The book arrived in new condition as stated by the seller.

#An Incomplete Education (2008-11-18) I ve seen this book in numerous catalogs and knew that my 15 year old daughter would love it. In the catalogs it was around $35 + shipping. I found it here at a much lower price, the book arrived promptly, and it was in excellant condition. I come here first for any of my online shopping needs. Great job guys!
#like LBJ s view of Bill Fulbright (2008-10-18) In 600-plus pages that mention nothing about the history of Israel or the wars against Israel, and ignore anti-semitis=im in discussing the Dreyfus affair, the editors ignore the first five books of the Old Testatment in dismissing Judaism as a religion not concerned with reward and punishment, and print a map locating Jerusalem im some place called Palestine. In discussing Bibles never mention the illiterate committee that gave us the James, never refer to translations of the Hbrew work alone. Hard to say what other blindness, prejud...
#A great gift item (2008-10-04) I purchased one for my husband who loved it. It is a general overview of many topics and is as much fun as it is educational. I will be purchasing 3 more as Christmas gifts for those on my list who have everything.
#Not Accurate (2008-09-16) There are things in this book that are inaccurate. I can only speak to the religious section because it is a subject I know well but I know others who have complained about the inaccuracies in the science section. For example, the author mentions that the Hadith (written traditions of the Prophet Muhammad) are widely accepted to be unauthentic. In fact, there is a whole science of deciphering whether or not a hadith is authentic, with many books rating thousands of Hadith. These books are so detailed as to include the character, education, public op...
#Very Disappointing (2008-09-12) As someone who has read and loved history for many decades, I thought this book would make a great addition to my collection, but I was very disappointed. Much of the information is piece-meal and incomplete, just enticing the reader a bit and then leaving them wondering where the rest of the story is. I was also surprised by the frequent and glaring anti-conservative messages, which were often unrelated to the topics being discussed. I understand that historians are human and have political leanings, but in this book too much opinion tainted the h...

#CD doesn t work with Vista or Mac (2008-11-20) I have used Kaplan study products for many different exams, and I like their approach and the fact that they have a CD-ROM with extra features. But it doesn t work with either my PC (which has Vista) or my Mac laptop!! This seems ridiculous for a 2009 version. I am very sorry I paid the extra money for the CD-ROM.
#Unuseful (2008-10-26) I bought this book to get an overview on the GRE (which I could have got on ETS page) and to increase my Verbal and AW scores. After three week of learning words, the Verbal scores didn t improve and the AW skill is simply unmeasurable. Their verbal CD tests are pretty limited, after making them twice I get maximum score because of learning the answers by heart, not because any improvement actually occurs. The Math was no challenge except the probabilities, whose I had to review once again. Sadly, no probabilities problems occurred in the test, but statistics...
#Excellent Product! (2008-10-23) The GRE Premier Program 2009 Edition is a fantastic study guide for the GRE tests. Having the groups of words and math examples in the back of the book make it a lot easier to study. I would suggest that those word groups and math examples be pages that can be torn out so that they can be used as notecards!
#Excellent study guide (2008-10-22) I purchased this book because I wanted to be well-prepared for the GRE. This book is easy-to-understand and very thorough. I especially appreciate their test tips. Kaplan gives explicit information about how the GRE is written and points out pitfalls to avoid. They train students how to easily eliminate certain answer choices to increase their odds of choosing the correct answer. There are practice tests both in the book and on the disk and there is a wealth of additional information on their web site. I highly recommend this book.
#Not Good (2008-10-21) The strategies and practice are good. The CD-ROM is a disaster. I was doing one of the 3 CAT included in the CD-ROM and my time expired after 10 minutes of the issue essay. The same thing happened with the quantitative section. It s worthless. Also, I found more productive and interesting the analytical writing tips in Princeton review. I don t recommend it.
