#yet another Disney masterpiece (2008-10-25) joint with Lion King as being the best Disney film ever and another one of my favourite films of all time. the animation is breathtaking and shows us the greatest set of characters ever. Arial is the definitive Disney princess. . . who actually fights for what she believes in and remains a truely beautiful Disney creation. Sabastean = the most hilarious Disney character after Robin Williams Genie in Aladdin. Ursula is neck in neck with Sleeping Beauty s Melefacent as the ultimate Disney villain. a remarkable film and Disney at its most epic a...
#Hans Christian Andersons Masterpiece of The Little Mermaid (2008-07-04) Hans Christian Anderson would be proud of this magical transformation onto celluloid of one of Disney s finest animation tales. . . . . Ariel wants to see what goes on above sea level against her father s (King Tritan) wishes. . . . she does a deal with Ursula the Sea Witch that could mean the end for her whole underworld kingdom despite being guided by her two underwater friends Sebastion her reggae singing crab friend and Flounder her devoted fish sidekick. . . . . This 2 disc special edition is a real improvemen...
#Magical, waterbased adventure and love story combined, that immersed me utterly. (2008-06-01) The Little Mermaid is a real gem of a movie, revived as a 2 disc special edition, this classic is one of the best Walt Disney movies I ve ever seen. There is more than enough here to engage both adults and children alike. As an adult this is welcome as I ve found some of the other Disney animations to be a bit too geared towards younger audiences. The movie benefits from a riveting script and really powerful characters. The main premise of the story is that Ariel a mermaid and youngest daug...
#Life is the bubbles, under the sea! (2008-05-30) I absolutely love this film it s quite short but has some awesome characters and catchy music. It s nowhere near as environmentally teaching as Finding Nemo but is still just as fun. Some of the extras on the DVD are really cool as well especially a feature on a would have been ride for the Disney theme parks but never went into action, I hope they put it in the parks one day.
#lovely duvley (2008-05-24) I must say that the little mermaid is a classic Disney treasure and that i now know that king Triton is ginger because in the little mermaid Ariel s beginning i discovered that he has ginger hair and a ginger beard and that i don t understand why that Melody has brown hair and also after viewing the little mermaid 2 go dwell in the sea i also noticed that Ursala has a anorexic sister like a stereotype kind of family as if to say that universe ate all the pies and her skinny little sis Morgana shoved a tooth brush down her throat. skinny person before i watch...

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark It s said that the original is the greatest, and there can be no more vivid proof than Raiders of the Lost Ark, the first and indisputably best of the initial three Indiana Jones adventures cooked up by the dream team of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Expectations were high for this 1981 collaboration between the two men, who essentially invented the box office blockbuster with `70s efforts like Jaws and Star Wars, and Spielberg (who directed) and Lucas (who co-wrote the story and executive produced) didn t disappoint. This wildly entertaining film has it all: non-stop action, exotic locations, grand spectacle, a hero for the ages, despicable villains, a beautiful love interest, humour, horror…, not to mention lots of snakes. And along with all the bits that are so familiar by now--Indy (Harrison Ford) running from the giant boulder in a cave, using his pistol instead of his trusty whip to take out a scimitar-wielding bad guy, faci...

#The Greatest Action Films of All Time (2008-08-27) Raiders of the Lost ArkFor all the criticisms George Lucas has received in recent times, we must remember that he did manage to come up with this gem of an idea for a perfect action film, and in doing so he created one of the most iconic action hero s that cinema has ever seen. A role perfectly played by its star, Harrison Ford. The script, written by Lawrence Kasdan, is expertly directed by Steven Spielberg, who by this stage of his career was firing on all cylinders. He takes Kasdan s script and perfectly balances the dialogue wit...

#Television of the highest quality (2008-11-13) This is a staggeringly good piece of TV drama which has justifiably become a classic. It s hard to imagine any producer today taking the time to explore a novel in the way this adaptation does, a full 11 episodes which allow the viewer to luxuriate in the story and thoroughly explore the characters. There has always been debate over whether there was a mythological Golden Age of TV, but I think the early 1980s saw something quite remarkable at Granada Studios, at least in the field of period adaptations, and Brideshead might just be th...
#The Beautiful and the Damned (2008-11-01) This was watercooler TV in the 80s,(it wouldn t be today, of course). When I first saw Brideshead all the interest - and the talk - seemed to be about Sebastian (the character and the actor playing him). New Romantics nicked the fashion ideas, families went to visit Castle Howard at the weekends. Redtops found a few half-witted Oxford students clutching teddybears and took photos to amuse their readers. And there was a sudden increase in the number of (Blair-like) conversions to Catholicism. Watching it all again, I appreciated so much th...
#God s grace in action (2008-10-28) Brideshead Revisited caused Mr. Waugh to suffer amongst his contempories. Why? Waugh writes: It s theme - the operation of divine grace on a group of diverse but closely connected characters - was perhaps persumptuoulsy large, but I make no apology for it. The modern world does not care about God, nor His grace, nor the fact that He loves all His creation: even a few funny toffs! This film does not avoid the issues of grace but stays true the novel s weird, wacky and wonderful ways. Thanks be to God!
#probably the best tv series ever (2008-10-20) A tragic love story between two young university sudents, that take separate paths in their lives. (Although neither the writer nor the screen writer were willing to assume any gay content). Performances by Irons and Andrews are outstanding. Don t miss it. Directing is well guided and in the perfectly right tone, intimate and tender. I remember I saw it for the first time I was still a young boy, but now, twenty years later it is still modern and actual.
#ONe of the greatest pieces of TV - ever! (2008-10-04) Quite simply this is brilliant. Producing the book as a TV series gave the director the opportunity to indulge in Waugh s lush and vivid text and whole sections of the book are quoted verbatim. And of course, in hindsight, the casting was inspired, with Jeremy Irons as Rider and Anthony Andrews as the rather beautiful Sebastian Flyte. But don t forget such cameo s as Nikolas Grace as the effete Anthony Blanche - masterful! The film I understand, leaves a lot to be desired, so better to buy this AND read the book. You will reg...

#The Magical Christmas Movie (2008-11-19) I have watched this film every Christmas Eve for as long as I can remember, and no matter how many times I watch it, it seems just as magical as the very first time I ever saw it. This is a wonderful story that explains the Legend of Christmas in a way which will never fail to entrall generations of children. It tells the story of Santa Claus from his origin, how a humble & kind toymaker with a love for children and a skill in carpentry became the man we now know as Santa Claus. This Movie answers all the questions ever asked about Santa by c...
#A Christmas Classic (2007-11-23) This film takes me right back to when I was a kid on Christmas eve watching this film before being tucked into bed. . . I bought this for me and hopefully when my 2 are old enough they will enjoy this just as much. . . This is the REAL Santa and in my eyes always has been. 5 stars for nostalgia! Brilliant Film, enjoy!
#The best christmas movie ever (2007-05-31) My favourite christmas movie. When I watch this film I know that its christmas.
#Found it! (2006-12-09) I have been racking my brain trying to remember the name of a wonderful christmas film I used to watch at christmas when I was younger. Once I read some of the reviews I realised this was the film. Its got to be one of the best christmas films ever made it just makes me feel so christmassy!! I have just ordered it and can t wait to sit and watch it with my own children now.
#Santa claus the movie (2005-11-09) I have this on vhs and it is excellent but the copy I received from amazon the sound is out of sync with the movie and it is very frustrating. I am a 58 year old grandmother and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie when it was on tv but this is just a joke. I will be returning it ASAP

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy stars Alec Guinness as George Smiley, John Le Carré s familiar, ageing British Intelligence agent, called out of retirement to discover the identity of the high-ranking Russian mole who has burrowed deep into The Circus--codename for the British secret service. This slow-burning, complicated and ultimately rewarding BBC adaptation, dramatised by Arthur Hopcroft and directed by John Irvin, perfectly captures Le Carré s own insight into the shady underworld of spies and the political climate during the Cold War. Le Carré s style is the antithesis of his contemporary Ian Fleming s--far from the glamorous lifestyle of Bond, with his fast cars and faster women, these agents ride around in Skodas, and Beryl Reid is the closest thing to a femme fatale, save for Smiley s elusive wife, Anne. An extraordinary cast (including Ian Bannen, Hywel Bennett and Ian Richardson), gritty realism and close attention to detail make Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy an outstandi...

#Perfection. (2008-09-03) We watch four middle aged men enter a down-at-heal office. They take seats around a table. Thay say nothing. One at the end coughs and asks Shall we begin? One to the side huffs audibly and then the opening credits rolls. How brave a start is that? Who would start a major TV serial like that these days? Ive seen Tinker Tailor. . . five times now and look forward to watching it a again. If there was a fire and I could run to save just one DVD this would be the one.
#CAUTION! (2008-05-29) TAKE CARE! The docuemntary on this DVD has a SPOILER, which gives away the ending of the sequel, Smiley s People !
#One of the best bits of television drama. Ever. (2008-02-20) There is a Soviet mole in the Circus. At least, according to Irina, a female Russian KGB agent in Hong Kong who wants to defect to the West. Before she can deliver this precious bit of information herself to the headquarters of the british Secret Service in London (the Circus, as it s called), she is found out by her KGB colleagues and hastily flown home to Moscow. Her british Secret Service contact in Hong Kong, an agent named Ricky Tarr, barely makes it back alive to Britain, but he refuses to go go back to the Circus. ...
#excellent (2007-12-20) With forty or so 5 star reviews, I don t need to tell you how good this series is in every way. However, I would add here for future customers a warning. That is: if you intend to watch/read other Le Carre works after this then DO NOT WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY! There are spoilers in it of Smiley s People, The Constant Gardener and no doubt some others I did not pick up on. I could not believe that it showed the final scene of Smiley s People whilst a newly-purchased copy of the whole series sat unwatched next to my TV set!
