Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of Earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He s outlasted all the Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he s developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabil...

#you will love the robot , but the film is too long (2008-11-19) Brilliant animation, endearing central character , nice plot line, and the environmental issues are well handled , and not rammed down your throat - consequently they will be lost on most of the kids that watch it , I suspect - nevertheless , it s good to see it in mainstream cinema , and you never know, subliminally. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . However , the intensity and pace of the action really got to me about 3/4 of the way through, and 1/2 hour of it could have been cut out ( and I don t usually have atte...
#WARNING NOT FOR CHILDREN!!! (2008-11-18) i understand what pixar and disney were trying to do - promote global issues in a way kids can understand however the ideas are very adult and i wouldnt recommend for kids. BUT. . . . . . . . . . . this is a master piece for adults. it has humour, the love story, the real life threats and the general likability factor!! this is a special movie and the first of its kind!! a must see for adult disney fans as we can understand the impacts and the messages that are to advanced for a childrens film. in addition youll end up loving wall-e and wantin...
#Pixar s best yet. (2008-11-16) I lost faith in humanity when i saw that this film has the same rating as Kung Fu Panda, which i enjoyed, but left no lasting impressions whatso-ever. Everyone else has already gushed over the film so this is just my attempt to bump the average score up. No other film can make a character watching TV so emotional. I would however agree that this isnt really for young kids, but thats not a reason to give it a low score.
#Brilliant! (2008-11-14) What a great film this is. Brilliant story, simply genius. keeps you ooing and ahing from the start. I don t want to say to much in case I spoil it for others. Simply watch this movie.
#A funny, and thought provoking animation (2008-11-13) I had to drag my girlfriend and my mates to go see this - i was only going to see it purely because the character in the adverts seemed hilarious. I was thoroughly entertained, yet also amazed at the depth of what is basically a cartoon for kids. On a superficial level, brilliant graphics and rendering with simply superb textures and lighting that make the visuals close to life-like, and in addition to this excellent simulated camera focus effects with appropriate blurring and out of focus effects depending on the scene that would...

#Magical (2008-11-19) What a lovely film!! I got this for my 3 year old daughter since she is going through a fairy phase . I have to admit I actually sat and watched the film the whole way through myself. Magical and cute, with added humour. . . some facial expressions perhaps lost on a small child, but not on me!Recommended must-have DVD for anyones Disney collection!
#Rubbish (2008-11-16) A relative bought this for my daughters 5th birthday & what a waste of good money. My daughter who is a huge fan of Peter Pan wasn`t impressed with this. The animation is good but there is no feasible story line. Disney should have left Tinkerbell in her original form as in Peter Pan. It`s just another rip off sequel.
#The dust she sprinkles still has great potency. (2008-11-11) J. M. Barrie first created the character Tinker Bell to appear in a play (Peter Pan) and then in a novel (Peter and Wendy) but her worldwide popularity is no doubt largely the result of her appearance in the Disney film that first appeared in 1953, Peter Pan. Tinker Bell later became the official Disney mascot in versions of the television series variously known as Walt Disney Presents, Walt Disney s Wonderful World of Color, The Wonderful World of Disney, and The Magical World of Disney. The point is, she has been a major...
#Aww! Adorableness (2008-11-11) What a lovely, lovely film! It s magical, and glittery and imaginative and beautifully done. The CGI quality is very good, and the ideas are wonderful, from Silvermist fairy manually putting dew-drops on spider webs, to catching the last of the sun s rays for lighting the glow-worms, to tinkering about with a broken ballerina music box. . . and chubby-cheeked Cheese the mouse, who is almost unbearably cute. The fairy dust shimmers and sparkles throughout the film and, at its core, it s a lovely story about being true to who you are. Not a theme that wi...
#Beautiful film to watch with young ones or by yourself! (2008-11-03) Beautiful film to watch with young ones or by yourself if your a big disney fan! Very well made and lovely story!

Disney s 1959 Sleeping Beauty was the studio s most ambitious effort to date, a lavish spectacle boasting a gorgeous waltz-filled score adapted from the music of Tchaikovsky. In the 14th century, the malevolent Maleficent (not dissimilar to the wicked queen in Disney s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) taunts a king that his infant Aurora will fatally prick her finger on a spinning wheel before sundown on her sixteenth birthday. This, of course, would deny her a happily-ever-after with her true love. Fortunately, some bubbly, bumbling fairies named Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are on hand to assist. It s not really all that much about the title character--how interesting can someone in the middle of a long nap be, anyway? Instead, those fairies carry the day, as well as, of course, good Prince Phillip, whose battle with the malevolent Maleficent in the guise of a dragon has been co-opted by any number of animated films since. See it in its original glory here, alongside Maleficent ...

#They don t make em like this any more (2008-11-13) This has always been my favourite Disney film, and I am so glad it s been given the loving restoration it deserves. The fantastic detail and 1950s graphic take of gothic and medieval styles is positively breathtaking. For Walt Disney it was ground breaking (and almost bankrupting) to create something so meticulously detailed and stylistically consistent right down to the backgrounds, and the result is beautiful and atmospheric. The extras are all interesting, detailing the conceptual side of things, and added a whole new perspective...
#Pink! Blue! Pink! Blue! PINK! (2008-11-10) My daughter, like many others, is obsessed with Disney Princess and has watched this a few times now. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the transfer. The picture quality is superb - and the animation is the smoothest I ve seen in a hand-drawn feature. It s probably wrong of me to assume that an animated film released 50 years ago wouldn t have the same level of animation quality as a modern film, and this has certainly quashed my preconceptions. The story is simple, and the humour is basic - but there s a real charm to this earl...
#Sleeping Beauty (2008-10-31) This region 2 UK 50th anniversary 2 disc edition has I m sad to say, an authoring fault. It is not properly flagged as anamorphic 16x9, it appears the initial batch as I have had two copies now, are non anamorphic, resulting in the main feature playing with black bars on all four sides of the screen, rather than the usual widescreen bars top and bottom. And before anyone asks, I have my dvd player and screen set up correctly.
#Simply a remarkable and truely inspirational Disney film (2008-10-25) very few animations can meet this standard of film making. this was Walt Disneys final fairy tale before his tragic death (r. i. p Walt. . . you are a true inspiration). Sleeping Beauty had a complex style of animated style never ever before done to make it look extremely realistic. and it all definately paid off to a great level. . . it is Disney (yet again) at its very best. very few can beat it. it blends its horror, fantasy, action and comedy together extremely well which earns it a high place on my list of ulti...
#After 50 years, even more dazzling and more delightful animation (2008-10-15) This is a new release of a Disney classic that first appeared in 1959. As is my custom, I much prefer to watch an animated feature film with several of my younger grandchildren (ages 3-7) and did so again with Sleeping Beauty on its 50th anniversary. Once again, they were engrossed in the story line whereas I was somewhat more interested in how the quality of animation measures up (after 59 years) when compared and contrasted with recent films such as Toy Story and Toy Story 2, the three Shreks, Ratatouil...

#So poor (2008-11-22) Bad,Bad, science fiction. Staggering, so limited in scope and view. This film is behind even existing tech. Just read one of the Ian Banks Culture novels to understand. If you don t know it s real now, you are already too late!
#An Out of This World Famil-E Adventure (2008-11-18) The opening shot is of downtown New York City. Only these aren t normal buildings but towers of blocks of trash. WALL-E (voiced by beeps and Ben Burtt), our hero, is a glorified trash compactor who has made the mountains. As we follow him across the vast landscape, we learn that he is the last of his kind and that he is indeed on earth. Humans fled years ago because they bought into the commercialism of the Buy-n-Large stores that ruled the earth. The resulting garbage overran the planet. But WALL-E is not a mindless robot....
#Probably one of Pixars best movies yet (2008-11-11) Okay, I seen this Movie whan it first came out, and I loved it so much I just had to go see it a second time. The animation short before the film (as is common with all Pixar movies) was great, worth checking out on its own. As for the film, the animation is simply amazeing, the characters are lovable, and the story line tried and tested (in other words, it works well). Simply put, Wall. E is a robot who is left alone on earth after humans have evautuated the planet. After 700 years (give or take) of lonliless cleaning up after human...
#A worthy effort (2008-10-19) Animated sci-fi adventure about a robot called WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class) and his female robot companion EVE (Extra-terrestrial Vegetation Evaluater). WALL-E is the last of the robots assigned to clear waste from the earth, which has become a huge rubbish tip, completely covered with man s waste, and which was abandoned by man some 700 years previously as it had become unable to sustain life due to man s pollution. EVE is a robot sent to Earth from The Axiom spacecraft - mankind s new home in deep space - with the directive to see ...
#WALL*E (2008-10-02) Since they crashed onto the scene in 1995 with their debut feature film Toy Story, Pixar have changed the face of cinema and animation forever. No longer is animation seen as a lesser art form, with Pixar becoming both commercial and artistic masters. Their films have been major box office successes, with their eight films to date taking over $4. 3 billion at the box office, and critical triumphs, garnering an average of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. After a slight bump in the road (no pun intended) with Cars in 2006, they got back on track with Ratatouille last yea...

Disney s 1967 animated feature The Jungle Book seems even more entertaining now than it did upon first release, with a hall-of-fame vocal performance by Phil Harris as Baloo, the genial bear friend of feral child Mowgli. Loosely based on Rudyard Kipling s original, the film goes its own way as Disney animation will, but the strong characters and smart casting (George Sanders as the villainous tiger, Shere Khan) make it one of the studio s stronger feature-length cartoons. Songs include The Bare Necessities and Trust in Me. --Tom Keogh

#Look for the bear necessities (2008-07-27) In one of Walt Disney s classics, Bagheera the panther offers to take Mowgli, a young boy, to the man village before the evil tiger Shere Khan gets to him. This family adventure is a classic, made so by a beautiful sentimental plot about human emotions, including loyalty, sensitivity and most importantly love. And these human emotions are decoded through the animals of the jungle. With the enchanting and fun loving actions of Baloo the bear and the honest and hard actions of Bagheera, do audiences get that true feel of the human spirit, and ...
#A Great Disney Film... (2008-03-26) This film is very enjoyable! I would say this is the best Disney film made so far because it has a really good storyline, which is: Mowgli a little baby in a basket was found by a panther called Bagheera, who gave this man cub (as the animals call it) to the wolf pack to raise. Years go by and the man cub, Mowgli had gotten so used to the jungle. Bagheera the panther realised that one day he had to take him to the man village. When Bagheera tries to take Mowgli to the man village, Mowgli runs away and meets a friendly, whacky bear called Baloo. Aft...
#Magical and Timeless, a joy from start to finish ! (2008-02-06) Enchanting and wonderful story about a boy who lives in the jungle and comes across some brilliant characters along the way from a posh panther to a fun loving bear, clumsy elephants, swinging monkeys, seductive snakes and a ferocious tiger. The songs are timeless and will live forever and this special DVD has some great extras from deleted songs to lost characters !A classic to be enjoyed by everyone !
#King of the Swingers (2008-02-04) I was never a massive Jungle Book fan. When I was a kid it just wasn t one of the films I d really seen much of. Disney s Robin Hood was the main Disney film I experienced. But recently I watched this DVD and realised how fantastic the film really is. . . . . . . The style of this film seems more akin to a detailed Japanese anime film than an American animated feature. The backgrounds are so detailed and the colours vivid (helped in this release by the digital remastering). But let s face it, this film isn t necessarily about the visuals - it s th...
#The Jungle Book (2007-12-28) I have fond memories of this film from my childhood and was delighted to receive a copy for Christmas. It s just how I remember it, beautifully animated, toe tapping music, great characterisations (although this was less of a concern when I was 5!) and a good story to boot. Modern animations, although impressive, seem too polished sometimes and I love in this film how you can see the pen strokes on the screen and get a feel that there was a person behind the artwork. The songs in this film are some of Disney s most famous and rightly so, Bare Necessi...
