#Wooden railway track (2009-02-02) My two year old grandson has had enormous pleasure from a simple set of track plus Thomas the tank engine, Annie and Claribell. The long straight and long curved tracks are easy enough for a 2+ year old to fit together, big enough not to get lost, and hold together fine on a carpet or table.

I sent it back for a replacement, as one of the barrier arms would not stay up properly - the slightest bump would make it fall down. Unfortunately, the replacement I received (which Amazon sent out extremely promptly) was even worse, neither of the arms would stay up at all. It seems that the barrier arms need to be held up very lightly so that the magnets on the trains going past can trigger the release for them to come down. #Disappointed (2008-11-15) My 2 year old grandson loves this but gets very frustrated by the little engine which doesn t have enough power to get itself over the bridge without a push. On the level, it can just about pull the three trucks along, if it has a fresh battery. It s a pity because I d like to expand the system but, if the trains can t get round unaided, there s little point.

It also has a very good feature that you can disable the mechanism, allowing smaller children to use it as a push along toy too.

#Could be better (2007-11-29) Great features with the realistic sound and forward and back battery operation but very disappointing that it cant even make it over it s own manufacturer s bridges even with nothing attached! Shame as it should be better performing for the price. It is still a hit with the children but Thomas the Tank Engine battery train out performs it.
