Toby is old-fashioned, both in looks and outlook. Every engine, no matter how old, wants to be Really Useful and having once nearly been scrapped, Toby is always happy to work. He s not above being temperamental sometimes, but since he works mainly up an outlying quarry line, he can work off his moods without causing grief to anyone except his own faithful coach Henrietta. Take Toby on a trip around the track! A wonderful way to encourage roleplay and a great addition to your Take Along Thomas & Friends collection!

#Toby the diecast engine (2009-05-29) All the take along thomas range is lovely with such attention to detail and easy for small hands to hold. My son often takes one of these engines to bed with him and at least they aren t big enough to hurt him when he rolls on them in the night. Ideal for fitting in a pocket or handbag when you go out too.

#toby: excllent piece (2008-08-20) For some reason one of our sons favourites is Toby. This is a great piece and i notice he plays with it a lot. Pity there is no windmill to go with one of the Toby stories (yes i know, like you no doubt. . . i too am forced to watch them). There is one thing to be aware. this is one of the heavier take along pieces, so if you child is prone to the odd mood to rocket launch toys, you would be advised to steer clear of this, its about double the weight of a normal take along train. the colouring, painting and moulding is spot on on realism.

#Lovely little trains for taking on your travels! (2008-07-24) My son has a large collection of the take along Thomas range. These little trains are perfect for taking out and about - they re a lovely size. Ours have lasted quite well considering the heavy play they get from 4 young kids. OK, so they may have a few little chips in them now, but nothing that would take any fun out of them - they just look more authentic!!! And they don t chip nearly as easily as the wooden range. I would highly recommend these to anyone with Thomas mad kids!

James is a medium-sized engine. His six driving wheels are not as big as Gordon s and not as small as Thomas . He has a fine scarlet coat and brass dome and likes to think of himself as a Really Splendid Engine. This can occasionally lead to high-falutin ideas about the sort of work suitable for such a noble creature: invariably they land James into trouble. Take James out on an important journey! A wonderful way to encourage roleplay and a great addition to your Take Along Thomas & Friends collection!

#Travel-Size (2009-06-02) We took our son to the Chicago Botanical Gardens, and they had a James in the model train garden. We hadn t even watched the show at that point, but I bought him a Take Along James as a souveneir. #Little fingers get trapped! (2009-05-10) My two year-old loves all things Thomas the Tank Engine. He s not far off of his third birthday so we thought that it would be an acceptable present. Unfortunately when trying to open the doors he always seems to get his fingers trapped in the window. This causes much distress. It is the only criticism we have of this toy, which has been placed out of reach until he s a bit older.

#Lots of fun, easy to store and play with (2008-12-29) I bought this for my 3 year old son for Christmas and its already a firm favourite. He has played with it non stop. It came with Thomas the tank, but we added James, Bessie and another to go with it. He loves the fact he can set it up himself and put it all away and take it to grandmas. #My son s favourite toy! (2008-11-02) I bought this for my son s 2nd birthday and it was an instant hit. Now nearly a year later it is his favourite toy and he can t put it down. He loves putting the track together and pushing the trains around making up stories. We ve recently bought him some more track which was urgently needed. #Hours of fun with this toy! (2008-10-02) I bought this shed and play set for my son twelve months ago when he turned three. He absolutely loved it then and still does now. He s a normal lively almost four year old now and the shed is still going strong (not one of the doors have come off) and looks like new where many of his other things have long gone. He is having great fun with them even though they are not compatible with his Brio track. The Amazon website does not explain this. Only one side runs in the track, the other side runs over the ',sleepers', if there were any. He still finds it great fun but I wonder what will happen when he is older and realises the problem. We will probably buy some Learning Curve track for Christmas so that he can run Thomas and friends on their ow...
