#Wooden railway track (2009-02-02) My two year old grandson has had enormous pleasure from a simple set of track plus Thomas the tank engine, Annie and Claribell. The long straight and long curved tracks are easy enough for a 2+ year old to fit together, big enough not to get lost, and hold together fine on a carpet or table.

#Disappointed (2008-11-15) My 2 year old grandson loves this but gets very frustrated by the little engine which doesn t have enough power to get itself over the bridge without a push. On the level, it can just about pull the three trucks along, if it has a fresh battery. It s a pity because I d like to expand the system but, if the trains can t get round unaided, there s little point.
#Great first train set (2008-03-10) Although most Brio is not recommended for children younger than 3 years old, this set is designated as being OK from 18 months old up. We bought it for our son s second birthday, and he absolutely adores it. The pieces all seem very robust, and there is relatively limited scope for him to do much damage with the pieces if he throws a tantrum. For instance the house is made of a soft material. Learning how to run the train on and off the tracks, keep it on the track, run it through the house and use the right magnet on each carriage to connect to t...

Eight-wheeled battery-powered engine, which also features the new autostop and start function. Featuring 3 chimney-shaped buttons that activate forward and backward motion, two headlights, and the sound of an authentic steam locomotive. Requires 2 x AAA batteries (not included). 3 Years +

#BRIO Mighty Red Action Loco (2009-03-11) I bought this for my 2 year old nephew and he hasn t sopped playing with it yet! Great quality and value for money.
#Fantastic battery-powered engine. (2009-02-27) Great battery powered engine. It is powerful and fast, and the sound effects are clear and realistic. My kids have had loads of fun with this. It also has a very good feature that you can disable the mechanism, allowing smaller children to use it as a push along toy too.
#Adds a new dimension to a push along set (2009-01-01) The mighty red action loco has proved a great addition to my son s train set. It has added a new dimension. Previously the set consisted of push along trains - the addition of batteries has changed everything! In response to concerns in earlier reviews:I had no problems with the battery compartment, it s held in place with one screw and seems very secure. The engine is able to climb our bridges from the Tesco and Bigjig range (but only on it s own, not with carriages attached). We don t have any Brio bridges so can t comment o...
#Well if the battery cover worked it would be great (2008-04-01) Both of our sons love their Brio trains and track and so we thought we would buy a second battery train so the youngest could enjoy one. The other train (BRIO 33761 Wooden Railway System: Smart Track Engine) worked very well, was well designed and durable. This train, however, has a flaw - the battery cover on the first train had a locating pin to stop the cover sliding forward and make it secure when it was screwed down into place. This one does not and as a result my wife cannot fit it at all and I have spent half ...
#Could be better (2007-11-29) Great features with the realistic sound and forward and back battery operation but very disappointing that it cant even make it over it s own manufacturer s bridges even with nothing attached! Shame as it should be better performing for the price. It is still a hit with the children but Thomas the Tank Engine battery train out performs it.
