We at Gadgetshop HQ look forward to our team buiding camping trips to the Forest of Dean every year. Inevitably, we find ourselves trapped in the middle of nowhere in a storm or a blizzard, huddled together and vowing to never ever relate the situation to anyone. Ever. That s why we searched high and low for this little gadget to help avoid such awkward situations. Magfire is a new firestarter that has been developed by survival experts to work trouble free after getting wet, in a storm and below freezing point. Glowing sparks developed by a single strike will make a campfire, light your gas barbecue and stove. When traditional matches are long enough in contact with humid air they won t work. Butane lighters don t last long and won t work in a storm, highly humid conditions or in cold weather. Magfire is a practical tool from demanding professional use to backyard barbeques. Just pick it up, give it a strike and you re a twisted firestarter, as my nephew likes to put it.

#great fire starter (2010-02-18) This is great spark lighter i have found it easy to use and to start fire, small hint for tinder use cotten wool balls in a water tight contianer i can not fault it so far, will be using it on a trip shortly so we will see. if your going to buy a spark lighter buy this one.

#This could save your life (2010-01-02) Some of my holidays include a degree of hiking off the beaten track. This fire starter will always be in my daysack alongside swiss army knife and first aid kit. I have needed to use the latter items in the past. I hope I am never in the position of needing this in an emergency, but I have confidence that it will do the job. I tested it and it quickly ignited the a small piece of cotton wool from the first aid kit. A quick squirt of alcohol hand wash onto some kindling ignited with the second shower of sparks from this amazing bit of kit.

#Strike a light !! (2009-12-26) These devices are pretty much all the same. This one is no better or worse than the others. It takes a couple of minutes to get used to it but it works pretty well, even in bad weather, even with cold hands. Outside, you do need something which catches light easily though, dry tinder, a warm gas can gas etc. I notice this has increased in price since I bought it, so shop around the various Amazon partners. #great when it works (2009-09-17) Was looking forward to using this as a gadget on my recent camping trip, but was a bit dissapointed! Its a lot harder to use and I think there must be a technique which me and my boyfriend have yet to fathom! We got it to work after many attempts, but feel that when ur lighting a gas stove it would have been easier with match/lighter as the sparks didnt always find there way to the gas - thus gassing us out and wasting it in the process! But then sometimes it worked first time, again - its just the technique. Would recommend as a backup to matches or...
