When the standard lightbulb was invented, naturally, we applauded. But science means progress - and the world is now looking for alternative ways to light up our homes. This is one of the best we ve found. Inside the Sun Jar is a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and three low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in direct sunlight, the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. When it gets dark or lights are turned off, this energy powers the three natural-coloured LED lamps inside the jar. The frosted glass of the jar then diffuses the light, giving the appearance of trapped sunlight.

#Meh.. it broke very quickly (2009-06-30) The concept was brilliant, however the actual product was flimsy and one of the wires inside my sunjar came apart, breaking the circuit and rendering the led light useless. When it was working, the light was very very dim, and could only really be used for ambient effect - not like the sun at all!Its a sturdy and nice looking jar but now it sits on my windowsill, looking and functioning as a plain glass jar. It wasn t worth the money I paid at all.

#Poor (2009-05-30) Lasted just over 2 weeks. Supposedly waterproof, rain got in, corroded connection to LED, doesn t work. Looks good but shoddy electronics inside. Wouldn t even consider claiming under warranty, will just write it off as a poor buy.

#Sun Jars (2009-05-25) Very stylish, practical and lovely soft glow. Could not ready by one but I have five on a garden fence, hanging and they light up the fence so softly and they are a feature. As a child s night light excellent.

However and this is a good HOWEVER!! open the lid. . chuck away the crappy re-chargable battery, buy a pack of four AA duracell batteries and replace the battery with one of the Duracell ones. once you have done this DO NOT use the solar panel IE swith the jar OFF during the day (this is because you are ALWAYS advised NOT to try and RECHARGE a non rechargeable battery). what you can then do is switch it on at night and you get a perfect light as the picture indi...

#lovely ornament (2009-05-10) the sun jar is really unique and looks lovely in the garden at night, well it did until the missus knocked it over and broke it :o(, the jar is very very fragile the glass is soooo thin, so be careful that you place it were it will not be knocked over
