#Amazing value! (2009-06-18) I personally have found this cross trainer to be very sturdy and well built and not too noisy at all which i was worried about, so i am very pleased with my purchase! Im absolutely rubbish at putting things together and after reading the other reviews thought i would have a real struggle. But even i managed it so anyone will beable to put this together! I weight 9 stone and if like me your aim is not to lose weight, but to just tone up and get fit i think you ll be more than happy with this model! If however you are a little over weight like my husband you ...
#Very Good (2009-05-25) Well, I m a total novice at working out and putting the equipment together, but I found this cross trainer rather easy to put up. It took my girlfriend and I about 45mins to do but that was becasue we were over careful and took our time. Overall we found it fairly easy. The elecronic monitor is also really easy to set up nd took all of 15 seconds. Once up I have found this cross trainer to be really good value. It is sturdy nd does exactly what it says on the tin. If you are a begginer like me then you will find this product good value and a useful aid in ...
#Good value for money (2009-05-17) Waited for 3 months before giving my views. Delivered promptly. Basic but more than adequate for me and I have been using it 30 minutes 3-4 times a week for last 3 months. Please note that the LEFT pedal crank nut is REVERSE thread and despite being aware of that I managed to tighten it when trying to take it off before fitting. When I rang the company before I could explain the situation they had identified the problem and a replacement arrived within 2 days. Must be a common problem. Assembly took me an hour. The resistance is never going to ...
#Great item, but can t assemble (2009-05-09) I just recieved this today - super fast delivery, thanks Amazon. I ve had one of these before, and have put it together no problems. Seemed to be the same this time, but having put all of it together except the handle bars that are supposed to fit into the panel where the pedals are. . . I have now become stuck at that bit. Everything is assembled properly and yet this part will NOT fit!! I m not sure if this is a fault on the equipment, or just a part that s not explained in the booklet that should be, but it is now all set up bar...
#Won t recommend it (2009-05-01) I bought this equipment recently, first few days were good, then on-board computer stopped working because a pin connecting it to the rotating wheel broke on its own, got a replacement one from body sculpture. After few days it started producing some cracking noise and appears that screw on which wheel is mounted is being grinded every time I use it and can see some iron scrap coming out, so horribly disappointed. I will advice not to buy it based on my experience.

#Great purchase, excellent machine (2009-06-11) This product is an excellent buy at the price and I am exceedingly pleased at my purchase. I bought this over an year ago and have used it consistently since then. It is very well made and lets you get on with your exercise. Pros:* Very sturdy in my experience. Once put together properly, the equipment is rock solid. The equipment parts are heavy for a reason, you ll appreciate the sturdiness once you start using it. The handlebar movement was smooth and fluid, and more importantly, has continued to remain so. * Quite feature rich a...
#york exercise machine (2009-05-09) Arrived at agreed time and day. Assembly was interesting but only needed one person. I agree that the instructons need careful reading but everything came together well. It works very well and is also very quiet. I like the combination of exercises available on the machine and would very much recommend it. York XC530 Elliptical/Cycle
#York XC530 Elliptical/Cycle (2009-04-11) Having read the other reviews, I conclude that the chap who claims to have put it together easily in about an hour is Superman, while those who found it near-impossible obviously needed help. The parts do need laying out with care before beginning and the whole business is certainly not simple or swift. At the very least it s a couple of hours work. However, once sorted (a) there s a distinct sense of achievement (b) the machine is extremely hefty and robust. It s certainly not easy to move about and, depending where you use it, a mat w...
#Smooth, quiet, great for reading at the same time. (2009-04-10) Yes, you need patience to put the thing together. It took us more than 1. 5 hours, as another reviewer stated, and we originally put both sets of handle bars back to front, but we got there in the end. Then it clunked until we adjusted the wheel cover a bit. I love it. You could probably put it in front of the television, it is so quiet. I use it for my reading time in the morning. Another reviewer answered a question I had when he said its calorie counter clicks over every seven revolutions. Not a perfect calo...
#Assembling - You need a little patience (2009-04-06) Don t be worried if when checking the various nuts, bolts and washers that you find you have only 5 of one item and nine of another as it will all make sense in the end. Use black with black when attaching the pedals. This is a very professional and robust looking piece of equipment. As three of us use it, it would be greatly improved if the handle bar fixing knobs and the seat height adjusting knob were spring operated. Overall a vg product.

#Great! (2009-03-30) My husband bought this machine based on it s great reviews. I am still using it 2 months later and love it. It has great programs, pulse monitor and even I can do at least 20 minutes cardio everyday! It is very quiet and I highly recommend it.
#Good piece of home training kit (2009-03-20) Took an hour or so to put together, and it needed two people to get it done correctly. Crosstrainer is nice and solid and 4 weeks into using it I am happy with the purchase. The controls are reasonably intuitive to use, and the ability to input your user details for retrieval when you use the machine is very useful. The motion of the Crosstrainer is good, I don t have any nasty squeaks or noises when I use the trainer. My only negative point I think was also raised by another reviewer, and that is that for me I find it difficult to read the...
#Excellent Bit of Kit (2009-01-18) This not only LOOKS like a great piece of kit it IS a great piece of kit! The photographs do not do it justice, it is even better in the metal flesh. I work with a lot of technical and engineered equipment in my job and this product is engineered to a very high standard. I have seen some of the other reviews of similar products from York and obviously there will always be some potential problems if you happen to be unlucky - that could potentially happen with a Rolls Royce or any top of the range sophisticated item. This is one of the best pieces o...
#Do NOT buy this (2009-01-13) I ordered an X301 three weeks ago and it really does look great. It doesn t work but it does look the business. The left hand moving handlebar had a stripped thread. That s OK, I understand these things happen. However, the replacement was for the righ hand side. This is less usual. Still, it only took a week to arrive. Now we ve been promised another one for next week. So that s a month from order to working unit - assuming the part we receive next week is correct. After all, I don t mind paying £450 then waiting a month. Knowing right from le...
#Almost Excellent (2009-01-03) We have had the machine for a week, my daughter and I assembled it together and did a solid job, we were relieved when all the electronics just worked without any trouble, we took our time to assemble as we read the instructions and did not have any pieces left over! We are all impressed by it s virtually silent running. The programs are many and varied and can be made harder, although currently we all mostly find the basics settings quite hard enough as we are not fit yet! I don t find the computer panel as user friendly or intuative as I would have lik...

#Robin (2009-07-01) just a short note on putting this together. It was ok but being stupid I did become confused by being asked to use certain parts that were not listed on the contents or on the helpful parts board to which the screw. washers etc were attached. where is screw number 37 then? It s not listed? The awnser is that some of the parts are already attched but removed as part of the construction process and then re-fitted WITHOUT being given a number. If you are dim like me you do not realise this. to be fair the Yorkl help line was equally puzzled by the lack of refere...
#Terrible build quality (2009-06-29) Having owned this cross-trainer for less than a year, I m currently waiting for the third replacement part to be sent to me. After about a month, the metal hinge that attaches to the arm pivot snapped clean away. I noticed that it is welded onto the flat runner by two thin strips of welding - the metal parts aren t even properly in contact with each other. A couple of months later, exactly the same thing happened to the replacement part - the welding just snapped. When I received a replacement part, I ended up deciding to drill two holes in eac...
#Great value for money (2009-05-08) I bought the York x201 this week and I am very happy with it. It has a great range of programs, stylish & sleek body and is sturdy and silent. It took my husband and me about 1. 25 hrs to assemble it. The instructions were absolutely easy to follow and the nuts and bolts were clearly numbered on a cardboard. It is the most intelligent way of packing and labelling nuts and bolts that I have seen in DIY stuff. You dont need any tools of your own for assembling. The only bit of disappointment is that the monitor is not backlit. I guess we are so u...
#Great buy! (2009-04-06) Bought this at a reduced rate so it was a real bargain. Didn t take my other half very long to put it together & it works wonderfully. Very smooth, no wobble, feels solid & well built which you d expect from the York name. Lots of good features. Only niggle is that the pulse feature only works when your hands are on the static arms rather than the moving ones which is a shame but a very minor point. Just waiting for the result of all my efforts to become evident now!
#Great!! (2009-03-27) I bought this cross trainer to allow me to exercise regularly at home and it suits my needs perfectly. I m a beginner in terms of exercise so I m still on the easy levels but it does just what you d expect it to. It was delivered quickly and the price on amazon was excellent. Assembly was relatively easy (thanks to organised packaging by york) but you did need two pairs of hands to get started, although with effort you could probably manage alone! I decided to pay a bit more to have the different programmes which I hope will motivate me as I get fitter . The pu...

#excellent- exercise with no effort !! (2009-04-06) Due to an ankle/leg injury I am unable to do any exercise with impact - this is no impact exercise!!Its sturdy, quiet and can easily be done whilst watching your favourite soap- believe me, I know!!Get your arms going to and its a full workout- fantastic piece of equipment which I would highly recommend for all ages and abilities.
#Is it user friendly? (2009-03-16) It took 2 of us to physically put it together. The instructions weren t always clear. It was heavier than expected and whilst it does fold for storage, it isn t easy to manoevre. There is good advice in the instruction book on warm up and cool down exercises and how to use the air walker. It is easy to use and when you get used to it you can work up a fair pace. It s a good way to exercise the muscles without jarring the joints.
#does the job well (2009-02-16) this is a good machine, when combined with a little extra workout beforehand,ie a few sit-ups and push-ups befor you start, you can get a good workout with with it. its not too demanding either,i use it while watching football and sometimes almost forget im on it. it has a good wide stride. it does get a bit squeaky, but im sure it could be fixed with a little grease. its quite big,but can be stored under a bed. stop being lazy and buy it!
#Poor Build Quality (2008-10-09) I have also had the same problem with this product that another reviewer below has mentioned. After moderate use, the plastic foot plate has broken in half. I could have easily been injured as the plate sheared into very sharp pieces. While this is an okay piece of kit for the first few weeks, it does not take long for it to feel a little unstable (the hinges squeak). Notably, I am well under the max. weight allowance for this product. I would suggest buying a higher end product as this will not give you value for money in the long run. Ultima...
#Great piece of kit! (2008-08-01) I have had this machine for more than 4 years now, and have used it regularly. So much so in 2004 that I lost over 20 pounds on it. Since then, I have used it perhaps twice a week for a good hour or so each time in order to maintain my weight and fitness. Nothing at all, from the foot plate to the digital calorie/steps counter has either broken or run out of battery power. It all still operates at 100%, and I am buying another one now for another family member. Go for it. It is easy to use, and makes for fun exercising whilst set up in front of the ...
