#sobbing (2008-11-25) the music great especially when the first time you see the film. ive been able to relate to the films from the beginning but this one is by far the most emotional. the music puts across so many feelings that made me cry 4times throughout. buy the CD after youve watched the film or you wont get the entire impact of the music.
#Read the product details carefully - misleading title! (2008-11-25) Be careful - this is not a set of the CD and DVD of the film, as I thought! It is a CD soundtrack, plus a DVD disc of the movie trailer, music video and behind the scenes clips. I only realised when the CD arrived and I went back online to check when the DVD was coming - it s not!
#This is the Last Chance to Hear the Original Cast Sing (2008-11-04) With two successful movies (and soundtracks) behind them, the original cast of High School Musical came together one last time to sing, dance, and act together. And fans of the first two will enjoy this soundtrack just as much as the others. As you d expect, the music ranges from pop to rock to Broadway to hip hop and back again. And I guess I ve gotten used to it because even the more hip hop tracks don t bother me as much this go around. Of course, all the songs have a pop based that will appeal to the core au...
#Pure, straightforward pop (2008-11-02) I ve been to see the Movie and was blown away by the music. It s cheesy, sure, but with high school musical you knwo what you are getting. I think it starts off really cheesy(as does this CD) with troy and gabrielle doing a lot of uh hu s in their songs(I hate that), but it does develop in its maturity and this stuff is good. I have to say, in a world where music is so pretentious, this is a blast of pure, straightforward pop and who could ask for any more than that.
#Great!!!!!!! (2008-10-29) This CD is fantastic, I bought it straight after going to watch the film at the cinema and the songs were still as good as they were in the movie, my fave songs are want it all and now or never.

What fun! This soundtrack of the film adaptation of the Broadway musical overflows with glossy, ol fashioned 60s-style pep. It won t win any awards for innovation, but it may well be one of the most feel-good releases of the year. While not quite as super-energetic as the original Broadway cast, the new crew ain t too shabby: Nikki Blonsky delivers as Tracy Turnblad and Zac Efron (High School Musical) makes for a devoted boyfriend, and the supporting cast gleefully embraces the show s silly-but-generous spirit. John Travolta (who gets to utter the particularly ironic line it s been years since someone asked me to dance) goes drag as Tracy s mom, Edna, while Michelle Pfeiffer s slight stiffness is appropriate for her uptight character, especially on the cha-cha (The Legend of) Miss Baltimore Crabs. After Mama Morton in Chicago, Queen Latifah puts in another brassy turn as Motormouth Maybelle (Big, Blonde and Beautiful, which is then reprised by Travolta and Pfeiffer). The show s autho...

#FANTASTIC!!! (2008-08-14) I remember the original hairspray from when I was younger and loved it then and still love it now, even though the songs and characters are different its still amazing! the soundtrack has all the songs from the film that just make you want to be in that groovy era of the 50 s/60 s. I have the album in my car and can never resist a good old sing along. Definitely a feel good soundtrack to brighten up your day! love it and love Hairspray!
#FANTASTIC (2008-06-23) This is the best album I have purchased in yeras. The movie was great and the soundtrack is spectacular. Your kids will love it. Hairspray is the must see musical. If you like Grease you will love Hairspray. !
#THE BEST FILM EVER and THE BEST SONGS EVER! (2007-10-29) I love every song in this album, they are all sung by different kinds of actors which makes the music varied and suprising. I bought this album on Amazon as soon as I came out of the Cinema, I still cant get these songs out of my head 4 months after it was released! The highlights of this album include. . . . . every single song! I promise that you wont regret buying this, it will brighten up every day with a little song and dance and I am sure that you wont be able to get them out of your head either. BUY IT NOW !!! :)
#Perfect for a gloomy day where you want to be cheered up! (2007-10-08) Quite simply, Hairspray is in my opinion, one of the best films to have been on at the cinema this year. However, what makes it so successful is its fantastic soundtrack. Opening number Good Morning Baltimore is a great feel good tune and other classic tracks such as Without Love with lyrics such as I never looked inside myself but on the outside I looked good and It s like getting my big break and laryingitus (apologies for spelling!),you know you are onto a winner! As for the singing, all in all very good...
#Brilliant Feel Good Album (2007-08-02) If you enjoyed the film, which I d bet good money you did, then you ll absolutely adore this soundtrack. It includes all the songs, plus a couple more [heard in the credits] and they are pretty much in their entirety, giving you the full spirit and beat of the movie. A must-have for any musical collection!

#Garbage? (2008-11-09) Yep. Track 21 (The World is Not Enough) is performed by someone called Garbage and talk about living up to one s name. . . How did someone who has no voice wind up singing a Bond song? *shakes head in disbelief* Actually, after kd lang s sublime performance of Surrender, the rest of the CD is not worth listening to. Before that, however, it s a lovely trip down memory lane listening to good sings sung by singers who can, well, sing. . . . .
#All the songs, and an unfortunate extra. (2008-10-27) Not much to say about the first 23 tracks on this collection that hasn t been said already - whatever your personal musical tastes, the pre-Goldeneye songs are all classics, the later ones may well become classics in time, except of course for the unfortunate blip that was Die Another Day. The Chris Cornell theme from Casino Royale is included, but sadly it s the version already released on the single, not as heard in the film. This time, the CD has the songs arranged in chronological order, (previously only found on the 30th Ann...

#mixed feelings (2008-07-31) I have to agree with the writer of the 1-star review that the actress who plays Elphaba on Broadway (and is featured on the cd) definitely has a disappointing voice compared to the West End actress. However, I do think that the actors playing Glinda and the Wizard, in contrast, have a better voice on Broadway, compensating a little for Elpahaba. I really do hope that a West End version of this cd will become available at some point.
#HYPE OVER SUBSTANCE (2008-06-09) the album is definitely better than the show, which in my opinion is just a big panto, idina menzel thankfully sounds better on the album than she ever did on stage in london, kerry ellis showed how it should be done, and i think they should release the london cast version, if you want camp cheesy songs that are badly edited then buy the album, but after youve seen the show you will realise that the album misses some very important plotlines, and songs dont make as much sense as they do when you see the show,
#TRULY WICKED (2008-03-31) I have not been fortunate enough to be able to see Wicked on stage yet, however I saw clips of the show on television and immediately wanted to find out more so visited the shows website and listened to clips from some of the tracks and was blown away. I have read the book by Gregory Maguire so had a good idea what the show was all about but never before have I been so captivated by a score without the ability to experience the show itself. With such gripping songs as The Wizard & I , Defying Gravity , For Good it is a must for any musicals fans collec...
#Amazing (2008-03-30) I have not got thw CD yet, but, I have seen the show with Kerry Ellis, amazing! I hope the CD lives up to the west end performance!
#This really is (at risk of sounding cliche) Wicked! (2008-02-18) Yes, I said it, the title of a thousand reviews - Wicked is wicked! But, in all seriousness, it is. I ve seen reviews which have labelled some of the songs here as not up to par others from the musical, and from other works of Stephen Schwartz. I can now denounce those rumours with the cheery air that comes from listening to Wicked for the forty-seventh time. Every song on this album, except, perhaps, the lacklustre Wonderful (although even that is good to sing along to when you re in a sing-along situation), is wonde...

Joel and Ethan Coen have long established themselves as film stylists without peer: from Blood Simple to Fargo, their movies have never been less than fascinating, and there has never been any question that their films could not have been made by anyone else. In T-Bone Burnett, the producer of the soundtrack for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, they have finally met their match: Burnett s work in assembling a collection of pieces for the Depression-set film is as skilled and entrancing as the film itself.Despite the presence of Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss and bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley, the stars here are the songs themselves, a host of traditional songs augmented by archival recordings. The collection is also a showcase for a host of lesser known and forgotten bluegrass masters: The Cox Family, collaborators with Krauss, Norman Blake, a sideman for Bob Dylan and June Carter Cash, country gospel group The Whites, who once counted Ricky Skaggs as a member (and who, here,...

#Stunning, evocative music. (2008-04-14) I m not from the US, my family hail from Kashmir and I was born in the UK, grew up listening to punk rock but WOW! The soundtrack literally drips with the era and place it hails from, every time I hear a snippet I swear I can feel the heat and smell the wheat - so amazing!
#Diverse selection of old-time music (2005-07-01) The music here, like the film it provides the soundtrack for, is presumably intended to take us back to the thirties. Several songs from that era are featured along with traditional material that would have been popular then. Recorded mainly with state-of-the-art technology (except for some old recordings that are included and re-mastered), the sound quality is far superior to anything available in the thirties. Several different types of music can be found here - blues, gospel, country and folk - mainly performed by contemporary arti...
#a lovely mix of traditional music (2003-11-04) Performed by some of today s best singers, this multi-Grammy Award winner is a marvelous addition to any country/folk music collection. Some of these artists are at the top of their field, but some will be discoveries for most of us, like the beautiful rendition of Hard Time Killing Floor Blues by Chris Thomas King, a versatile young man who is versed in many styles, and here sings in the old blues tradition and does it brilliantly. The highlights for me are: The legendary Ralph Stanley, with his plaintive acappella chant of O Death, whic...
#oh brother where art thou (2002-07-13) first class traditional country and a bit of bluegrass. represents excelent value for money. so many good tracks its hard to pick one that shines above the rest. listen to YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE by norman blake if you are not tapping your toes then someone has nailed your feet to the floor. then there s I m a man of constant sorrow-Soggy bottom boys Wow!then for a real treat try The Stanley Bros. Angel Band Traditional country at its best. many other great tracks from Alison Krauss the queen of country and the Whites with keep on the sunny side...
#GREAT ALBUM . . . BUT TRY BEFORE YOU BUY (2002-06-06) Let me make one thing clear. ",O Brother. . . ", is one of my favourite films of all time. Not only that, but the musical soundtrack is one of its strongest features and stands as a valuable cultural document in its own right. In short, this is an album that anyone who loves country, bluegrass or folk music is likely to want in their collection. So why, as I write, am I tossing up whether to only give it four stars? The answer is that I m attempting to review it, not as a collector s item or a socio-historical document b...
