#High Contrast is a phenom!!!! (2008-07-03) High Contrasts best album to date from start to finish every single song is amazing! Havin beeen brought up on d n b for years, high contrast is a fresh sound and is still sounding as fresh as ever on this his thurd album, with his liquid funk style of d n b total legend!Skip to Pink Flamingoes just amazing!
#Old raver happy (2008-06-03) I love this album. . . . . . . it takes me back to a time when the jungle/breakbeat sound was just emerging before the apache break took over and everything went dark. There should be more music like this. Strong, funky beats with great hands in the air moments.
#Drumtastic (2008-04-25) This album is brilliant. If you don t like it then get your waxed up ears syringed and listen again. if you still don t like it then your cluless and should return to your stock, aitken and waterman driven existence
#amazing! (2008-03-17) i ve listened to this album over and over and there s nothing i dislike about it. i don t skip any songs on this at all. ever song is uplifting. it s just as good, actually, better than high society. lincoln barrett and the rest of the artists on hospital records are the only ones producing something different than the usual generic drum and bass/jungle albums. hospital records are the future of drum and bass because all of their artists are a head and shoulders above the rest of the producers out there.
#High Bombast (2008-01-21) The fundamental problem with this album is that it is achingly unoriginal and devoid of ideas. Add to this some devastatingly awful lyrics that a four year old would be ashamed of (Track 2 - Everything s Different) get a Rick Astley soundalike to sing it, throw in the odd bargain bin bassline (Track 3 - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida) and you have the recipe for another Now That s what I call 90s D&B album. Apart from tracks 7, 8 and 9 (which are rather good it must be said) the listener is served up predictably tired Dross & Bass throwbacks that sound as if they ...

#uplifting and damn good (2006-08-30) From the beginning and the first drop at 8Ball you can tell you have bought one phat drum n bass album that is still as amazingly uplifting as high society. Cyntific s ghetto blaster and flashback are two tunes and Jenna G s Woe is so uplifting as well as Strength 2 strengh, and its nice to get a touch of good vocals in a Dnb album. This album has so many great tracks in it, it just represents everything good about drum n bass. A must buy for any person into good music.
#One Of The Best Liquid D n B sets to date.... (2006-08-19) If your into the more soulful, intelligent and musical drum n bass then this CD is a must. Especially if your a fan of Liquid Funk, as Fabio would call it. High Contrast are on top form on this CD, as the mixing is just as neat as the tune selection. Once again a great set from one of the very best producers in drum n bass. And to sum it up the best track on the CD has to be the final track on the CD, which is also produced by High Contrast, called Days Go By. . . which for me has to be one of the very best tracks ever pro...
#The Welsh Boy has done it again!! (2006-02-28) I completely agree with the review by A music fan from Redhill. There is not much i can say about this album. . . . Apart from pure genius. I was lucky enough to see High Contrast at Barfly in Liverpool a month or so ago. And was completely blown away by he use of awesome bass and uplifting lyrics. The place was bouncing!!! If you are thinking of spending your hard earned cash on Drum and Bass album, this would definately be up there in my top 5 all time favourites. Favourite songs - Like your not going to love all of them...
#High Contrast is a musical genius (2006-02-07) This album has quickly become a classic for me. It is truely incredible and puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it through. The mixing is perfect slicing between tracks without the listener evening realising. I often read reviews on Amazon and base my purchase upon them, however with no review yet made for this album i thought i better inform the world of its brilliance. If you are a fan of hospital records and love dnb at its best, then i',m surprised you don',t all ready own this album. However if your new to high ...

#Just awesome (2006-10-02) Before buying this cd i ll be honest DnB was not a musical genre I really enjoyed but this album has changed my mindset on it totally. . . this cd is just incredible. From start to finish its beautifully mixed up with vocals and effects but still retaining the thumping bass lines that just add to the experience! Easily the best album of the year for me. . . highly recommended!
#My favouite album ever? (2006-08-10) This album is sheer class. Start to finish. If I was banished to a desert island and could only take one album with me, High Society would get the nod ahead of Leftism. Oh yes.
#reality check - something new? (2005-07-13) the problem with any set of reviews for a DnB album - you will always get one purist who will demonstrate their DnB credentials by:a. automatically slate anything with vocals. (especially female vocals. misogyny - i think so. ) b. slate anything which doesn t comply with the standard laws of jungle - the rigid contraints that are choking the genre and making it very samey, dull and uninspired. NB: anything not by ed rush or optical will automatically get slated. if in doubt - please also check any review of kosheen and lamb. high c...
#Back to the drawing board (2005-04-11) Most D&B albums end up gathering dust in my sitting-room very quickly, so every time I listen to one prior to buying it I try to imagine myself playing it incessantly, but that never happens, and true to form this album is already dust gathering. On a positive note Racing Green should be the music to a family car advert it is so catchy. Lovesick and Tutti Frutti also have a catchy touch of poppiness to them. But the rest are highly forgettable. Every D&B album has to have a stinker or two - Angels and Fly is a horrendously crap fe...
#In A Word Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!! (2005-03-22) Wow What an album! I m hoping to buy True Colors soon and If it s half as good as this album then my feet will be bruised from all the jumping. It s hard to believe that so much emotion can be put into a dance album but this genious has done it. From the enphatic happiness of Racing Green and Lovesick to the dramatic Twighlights last gleaming . The vocal tracks are vastly different showing Lincoln s great versitilaty. My personal favourite is Only two can play . I was on the drum n bass arena website the other day...

#this was soooooooo two years ago... (2004-05-27) but its near golden. . . real progressive in style (for all non- dance music heads, who are the ones who SHOULD start by peeping albums like this one, by progressive i mean it combines a lot of different snippits n styles like trance, electro, house, soulful vocals, lots of sweet organic piano/flute/horn samples- ALL UNDER THE PLATFORM OF DRUM N BASS. It contains many good indicators of where dnb is going, or ought to go, at the same time its real mainstream (not extreme or niche-specific) in style, and his style in track production...
#Definite Classic! (2003-12-04) This album boasts high quality production with clever use of sampling! It has many sides with plenty of moods! The balance of Soul/Funk/Jazz and (Drama) is amazing, it really Contrasts ! Link Barrat has earn t himself well deserved Respect for this! Catch him weekly in Moloko, Cardiff (Thurs)!
#Stunning. The welshman delivers an album beyond his years (2002-12-14) One of my favourites of 2002 this one. Faultless from start to finish. The amount of soul and warmth he generates whilst remaining true to the junglist faith is quite some feat. One of the best debut albums I ve heard in a long while, I can t believe he s so young and yet produced an album of such maturity. And if his recent collaboration with MIST on 3am and his remix of FSOLs Papua New Guinea are anything to go by, the future looks rosy for us and him. Big Up yourself Lincoln.
#A Promising Debut (2002-07-08) High Contrast is an appropriate term for the music on this album, as it triumphs in bridging the gap between the lush, melodic drum and bass typical of the LTJ Bukem sound, with harder basslines more associated with John B or DJ Zinc. This is a highly listenable album, perfect for the car or at home, whilst not detracting from the dancefloor-friendly nature of most of the tunes. High Contrast s production style combines lush string textures, female vocals, brass swells and crisp breakbeats with snaking sub-bass riffs and filtered synths. This is well ...
