#Functional - pure and simple (2009-04-05) This is a simple and straightforward walkers compass. It is well made with a grippy bezel ring which makes for easy use with gloves on. It is as accurate as its user so take the time to learn how to use it properly. It was good enough to navigate out of a whiteout in the Lakes this winter. Good price. Recommended.

#Mk 3 ranger (2009-02-13) No surprises - usual excellent piece of kit from Silva. Soft grip bezel a useful touch.

The Silva Expedition 4 Compass is the compass for serious navigators and professionals. Specially designed to allow working on a map. The base plates have different scales and a built-in magnifier. Naturally they are equipped with luminous points for navigation in the dark.

#For serious navigators (2009-04-17) I own a collection of compasses but, while all their needles point reliably north, this is my best one. Distances are easier to measure courtesy of the romer scale for all map scales (including the increasingly popular 1 : 40,000 used by Harveys). It also has luminous markings, making it ideal for night navigation - you can see instantly when the red is in the shed . Its not the cheapest option but what s a few quid for an easier life?

It s not an uncommon occurrence for the members of gadgetshop HQ to gather and compare our pocket knife collections. Mrs Gadgetshop tells me that we re subconsciously reliving our boy scout days. I reckon it s just because we re immediately distracted by shiny things. So it s rather disheartening when said knives become less shiny and somewhat blunt. Solution? The Wenger Super Sharpener. And it really is rather super. This diamond carbide sharpener is easy to carry and enables all kinds of knives and cutting tools with a V-shaped blade to be sharpened quickly and easily. It is simple and safe to use and will put a lovely sharp edge on a worn knife blade with just 4 or 5 passes across the blade. It can even be used on serrated blades. So now you can keep your chopper shiny and sharp at all times. Your vegetable chopper, that is.

#Fantastic! (2009-06-20) This is by far the best field/instant sharpener i have used. Gives a great cutting edge to a knife after a few strokes and depending on your knife doesn t remove alot of metal. It s light weight and the finger guard is an added benefit, the diamond carbide V shaped blades are extremely durable and as of yet show no signs of degradation. The sharpener is very light weight and quite stylish for the modern kitchen. Although i haven t used this to sharpen a serrated blade yet I still give it 5/5.

#this really works!(says so on the packaging) (2009-06-09) it does work-very well, but on serrated blades its a bit more touch and go. Fine for small serrations-larger knives don t even think about it

#Great bit of kit (2009-04-23) I bought this for fishing for sharpening my filleting knife whilst on the beach. It is now indispensable. 5 passes with this makes a good knife lethal. Very pleased

#makes sharpening your blades so easy (2009-03-13) ive always found blade sharpening a pain but this has taken all the hassle out of it. with a few strokes your blades are razor sharp . excellent!

#Good Sharpener. (2009-03-04) This knife sharpener works very well at sharpening pen knives and non-serrated kitchen knives. It says of the pack that it will sharpen serrated blades. Be very carefull when doing this as the blade tends to jump out of the sharpener.
