#Cast iron rusts... (2009-04-22) I got one of these as a present. Tough, durable. Rusty. It s made of cast iron. It rusts. . . Of course it does. Don t leave it in the sink for any period of time.

#Looks the part, but poor quality (2009-01-08) Bought 1 of these as I liked the look of it. After using it several times the black coating started to come off, both the pestle and mortar, rendering it useless. It s in the bin now! I would say avoid this and stick to the stone ones. . . . . . unless you like black metal flecks in your dinner!

#Good stuff (2008-12-25) The choice was between marble or iron. After careful consideration and feeling and holding few marble ones in the shops, I tried my luck with this particular one and my wife loves it. It matches nicely in kitchen and very solid, I think this will last for generation.

#Fit for purpose (2009-06-11) Revolutionary mortar & pestle- Smash (White/Grey)We use it to crush a wide range of pills to go down a feeding tube (PEG tube). It s quick, easy (even an MND patient can use it) and by tilting it at the end you can get a very fine powder which reduces the chances of tube blockage. It s going to be interesting to see how well it lasts - this isn t occasional culinary use, this is lots of pills several times a day. But at £10 a time, we d probably just buy another!

You don t have to hammer at things as you do with a conventional mortar and pestle, just a few quick twists of the wrist are all it takes to reduce seeds and whatnot to a fine and evenly-ground powder in seconds. #Revolutionary design, so easy to use & looks contemporary (2009-02-18) This pestle and mortar is no less than excellent. It grinds anything you throw at it in a couple of seconds, say no more. It has a stylish design and is comfortable to use. The unique pattern on the head means that very little effort is required to grind things. Really useful for grinding the spices for a curry etc. Recommended!

#Beautiful design, easy to use (2009-01-02) I asked for this for Christmas to make up spice pastes. Having used it a couple of times now I have found it to be easy to use, clean and makes a great job of crushing awkward items such as peppercorns. A brilliant piece of design and at a reasonable price.
