#Not up to the job! (2009-06-19) Pretty awful - anything more than a girlie twig and it throws a tantrum & stalls. The claimed 40mm diameter capability is a gross exaggeration. Should be painted pink - it s such a girl!!
#Time will tell... (2009-05-29) Assembly was relatively straightforward despite (quite poor) instructions, taking about 5 minutes. I have used this shredder for about an hour at the time of writing this review, so it s too early to say much about the lifespan of the blade however, based on other reviews, I purchased a spare blade at the same time to be prepared. Although Amazon are the cheapest for replacement blades they still seem expensive items. Hopefully with care they will last a season. I was quite surprised to find there is NO auto on/off, which means the shredder whirrs away...
#Bosch Rpid 2220 (2009-04-22) Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 - Electric ShredderWorks fine--nice tidy machine and much lighter than the previous shredder that I had which was of the crushing type and although very powerful very heavy. The Bosch does shred material very finely-nearly sawdust which will compost in no time at all. I haven t put it through any heavy work as yet but get the impression that it should cope OK as long as I don t force it too much --let the machine do the work. This type of shredder does not really self feed like the crushing type which is designed to draw the mat...
#Does exactly what it says it would do! (2009-03-23) I bought the Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 electric shredder to get rid of the smaller branches of old fruit trees that we had cut down. It works really well - easy to use, clean and move. I ve shredded for at least 6 hours with no problems. Suggest you buy ear defenders if you don t have them. Use goggles too. I ve now developed a good system. I gather up the branches in a pile, thick ends towards me and then feed them in one after the other thick end first. You don t need the bag for chippings - a plastic sheet underneath is fine. I ...
#Eats Everything! (2008-10-12) Nicely made, happily chips everything up to 40mm and anything bigger than that we use on the fire anyway. Rarely jams and not too noisy. Chips are suitable for mulch. (Just seen Argos have it on at £99, drat!) Had it about 4 weeks and it s eaten apple trees, hawthorn, elder and even dried wood -- it looks more robust than most other similarly priced models I looked at.
#As good as it gets. (2009-07-01) A product with the Bosch name usually spells quality. This is no exception. I have used this shredder on a number of occasions now, and I have not encountered any problems. If you follow the instructions in the manual, and don t try to overload it, or put in too much green material on it s own, then this thing devours anything you feed it. The noise level is remarkably quiet, and can be used confidently in a residential area.
#New toy (2009-07-01) Bosch AXT 2000 HP Silent Garden ShredderThis is the third shredder I have had and by far and away the best. I don t have to shove stuff through. Once inserted the branches and twigs are pulled through by the screw action. It eats it and chops it up as fine as I could require. I have had to buy a third compost bin to accommodate the results and am looking forward to next year to get the rotted compost and my garden already looks much neater. Also it is not so noisy that it upsets the neighbours. It may be my best toy but it is a really serious machine and I lo...
#Bosch AZT2000HP Shredder (2009-06-03) An excellent product, that actually does what it claims to do. Very powerful, but also quiet. The screw mechanism which pulls branches in is far better than the rotating blade system on older shredders. The only criticism is that the shredded material is discharged low down, so it s nor easy to collect in a wheel barrow or larger container.
#all good so far (2009-04-24) the shredder is working really well so far. I have used it heavily over the past few weeks and it has coped brilliantly with most of what I have chucked in it. I will give it 5 stars when I have had it longer and if it is still working!
#Very quiet and easy to use. (2009-04-15) Very pleased with how quiet it is to use. No problem putting it together. Arrived in only a few days from Germany.
#Great product but perhaps not industrial strength (2007-08-13) I bought this because after cutting down a hedge I had a huge pile of clippings and wanted an easy way to get them into bags to take off to the dump. It did an outstanding job on one set of clippings (bay) turning the pile quickly into a mound of fine shreddings that I have added to the compost heap. It s quite satisfying too!On the clippings from another part of the hedge it was more disappointing. This was leafy laurel, and even the thin bits refused to go through the shredder at all, at which point I had to resort to ...
#A bit disappointing (2007-06-22) I had thought that this shredder would do what it says on the tin, errr sorry, box ie shred! When I put thin branches in to be shredded they came out badly bruised and not shredded, others gave me 9-10 inch-long thick slivers of wood and most leaves remained totally untouched. I had such high hopes of it paying for itself with a fast turnover of good quickly made compost, but I can t see that happening any time soon! All in all, a bit disappointing.
#Disappointed (2009-04-20) I bought a Flymo Pac-a-Shredder last August from my local B&Q superstore, and used it in the autumn a few times without any problem. I probably filled the collecting box no more than ten times with tree branches and twigs. I adjusted the mechanism once or twice towards the end of that time as I noticed that the shredder was starting to perforate the branches rather than chop them, ie branches come out still as solid branches, but with cut marks in them and stripped of their bark. I have tried to use it twice this year, most recently to shred the 1 thick...
#Superb (2008-09-14) This machine chops up the branches into little morsels rather than into a fine powder, but it s perfect for getting your prunings into a wheely bin or into a bag that you can take to the dump. Very fast, rarely clogs (it might clog if you try to fill it with leaves or flowers - best feed it only branches) and has its own collecting-box. When not in use, folds down into its collecting box and then takes up hardly any room in a garage or shed. I m very pleased with it.
