Already after just a few weeks mine is turning a hue of brownish-white and without going over 200C. Others have commented that 230-240C will turn it brown. The stand can stand or hang and bends easily enough to position it a bit better.

#simple device but does the job (2009-02-13) this is a very basic oven thermometer, but also very inexpensive. You can hang it from a shelf or have it free standing. A clip on would be useful. The device works and seems reliable and is helpful in checking a maintained temperature in your oven.

#Perfect results every time! (2009-02-09) Make no mistake. This item works well. My wife and I have cooked with it on a number of occasions since our purchase before Christmas. Most impressive of all was the royal bird that we cooked for Christmas dinner. It gave us a perfect result. Roast beef was also excellent on both medium rare, and well done settings. All you have to do is stick the spike into the thickest part of the meat, whilst still raw,if you are using foil, have the dial face pokingthrough foil so it s on the outside. #Cheap but effective (2009-04-16) I knew the kitchen appliances in our new house were poor quality but it was only when I got hold of this thermometer (and one for the oven too) that I realised just how poor quality. Our fridge was dangerously warm and its temperature fluctates. But with this items I have been able to keep it within reasonable limits. The thermometer itself is not going to win any awards for beauty or great design. But it is cheap and works.
