The only slight problem I had was with the microphone, but that was easily solved once I had realised that I had to make it my default microphone! Optia AF on my desktop (which is also top notch) but lacks a really good auto focus and auto exposure. In contrast (excuse the pun) the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 performs brilliantly at all light levels and the auto focus is spot on. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality webcam which is easy to use and install.

The webcam itself does plug & play easily without any need for a driver and therefore can be used with Live Messenger. However, I also require the capability to take photos/videos with it. For this I would require the software from the CDR supplied. The CDR clearly states that it is for XP & 2000 - no reference to Vista at all. When I tried to use it my computer didn t even recognise that there was a CD there. Some reviews said they couldn t turn the night vision lights on - there is a rolling control (like a volume control on headphones) on the cable - this turns the lights on. After having read varios on-line reviews of low priced cams, I plumped for the VX-1000. Very simple to set up and use. I was surprised at how good the quality of the picture and (more surprisingly) the sound were. The recipients of my Skype calls reporting great quality. The main camera is a more expensive Logitech with auto focus. Why not use two expensive ones the same? The computer would get confused. If you use two webcams they need to be from different manufacturers which will have different drivers. Used on Skype and ooVoo.
