#Best Freestat box for France (2009-07-04) Humax FOXSAT-HDR Freesat+ HD PVR Digital Box - installation recommended Simply to install if you are replacing an existing unit. We are using ours in France and the picture quality is excellent on our Sony Bravia flat screen TV. Some of the remote control functions a little confusing.
#A little miracle (2009-07-02) You need to know my history. Semaphore (not quite. . . ). 405 line B&W TV. 625 line colour TV. Video recorders (V2000, Betamax, VHS). OnDigital. Sky when OnDigital went bust. Sky too expensive for loads I never watch, so ditched Sky for Freeview (use pub to watch big sports events). LG hard disk/DVD recorder (videos dumped). Poor reception, glitches etc. with Freeview so: HUMAX, local installer of a shiny new dish, and FreeSat+ here I come! What a revelation. I still have my wide, flat screen 625 line JVC cathode ray tube TV of 10 years vintage, ...
#Humax Foxsat PVR (2009-06-30) The Humax Foxsat HDR Freesat+ HD PVR is a twin tuner satellite receiver able to record two channels simultaneously or one while you watch a second live. It can also record while you watch pre-recorded material and it can pause live TV at the touch of a button. To install it you need to buy a satellite dish with two LNBs, however, if you already have a suitable Sky dish, that will do nicely. Just plug the Humax into the mains, connect the satellite leads to the Humax and connect an HDMI lead from the Humax to the TV. If your TV doesn t have HDMI, then a ...

#programming problems with Sony HDX890 (2009-07-04) I cannot get the programming to work for more than a few seconds before the picture disappears. This happens in about 3 out of 5 attempts. Also it is a problem when selecting a successfully recorded program. Each time it drops out the recorder needs to be reset by switching off then on again. This is the same with the replacement I recieved. I think it may be something to do with the setup procedure but nobody seems able to solve it. It is a pity really, because the features and and operation are quite user friendly. Peter ...
#Full of features (2009-07-03) Read the what a Hi-fi sound and vision. does all that i want and more. excellent service from amazon and partners.
#Sony RDR-HXD890 Freeview+ 160GB Hard Disc Drive DVD Recorder - Black (2009-07-01) We read the reviews for this product and were concerned that it may be technically difficult for us grey hairs in fact it could not have been easier to use. Straight out of the box we were able to record and play and copy some old video tapes onto DVD inclusing the editing stuff. We are very, very pleased with it even the electronic programme guide is easy to follow.
#Good unit (2009-06-27) Having read all the reviews below I eventually decided to purchase this unit. Negative feedback generally seemed to centre around the noise of the fan (attributed to defective units), complexity of set-up, and only one digital tuner. I bought this unit as a supplementary HDD recorder, as our Sky+ box was getting uncomfortably full, leaving us to rush watching programmes, and/or often looking for the repeats (it s a pre-Anytime model with smaller HD). As we also have no DVD player it seemed a good deal to get both in one unit. Set-up is indeed complex, however...
#Brilliant machine with one little niggle..... (2009-06-25) The little niggle I refer to in the title is a lack of an optical out for digital sound. It does have a coaxial SPDIF output, but the Samsung I replaced this with had both, as I used both in my old set-up which included a surround amp and surround headphones (the Sony headphones having an optical in) so for now I have to use my headphones with the standard audio out. I live in Northern Ireland, and have one of these and can assure any other norn iron residents it works fine. I happen to live in an area that does not have free...

#Good value for money (2009-06-29) Its been a month I purchased this item and its worked very well. Its excellent quality and easy to use. I would recommend this as its good value for money.
#sony dvd player. (2009-06-28) What can i say, we love this dvd player. Its neat and slim so it looks great and best of all it plays every dvd we have got. Really pleased with this item and would recomend.
#Good player, hope it lasts! (2009-06-25) This is a good player which plays most formats, unlike some other players which aer more expensive. My only problem is that some DVDs do not load first time, they take alot of time and it just seems to hang. There is apparently not anything wrong with the disc as after a couple of tries they usually work. Another review mentioned that their player only lasted five months and then stopped playing any disc. Being a Sony product I would hope the get more use of it than this - but it this happens to anyone, send the product back for replacement...
#Dreadful (2009-06-22) Lasted 5 months & stopped playing any type of disc. Although its a Sony its very cheaply made & should be avoided at all costs.
#Does the job (2009-06-13) This is excellent, it plays many types of video files avi/divs/xvid/etc as well as standard DVDs. It has a good ffwd speed if you need to skip through a film to a certain bit and it is a very small unit, much smaller than a standard DVD recorder. For £33 you can t really go wrong. The remote control works pretty well, my only problem is it doesn t have an eject button. I have only had it for about a month so can t comment on reliability but I know from previous experience that amazon have an excellent returns policy so that doesn t concern me too much....

#Do not buy a Sony HXD995 to use in a bedroom (2009-06-29) Sony RDR-HXD995 Freeview+ 250GB Hard Disc Drive DVD RecorderI cannot recommend this DVD recorder as it is impossible to choose the time when it switches on to update the Digital Program Guides. Every night at 2. 58pm I am awakened by the click click thump as it switches on to update either the Guide Plus+ or the Freeview EPG. This happens 3 times every 24 hours and each time it stays on whirring for 2 hours. That is a total of 6 hours every 24 hours. Another problem it has is that whenever it is set to Fast Forward it ...
#Very pleased (2009-06-27) Excellent recorder. Again as comment with Sony Bravia TV disappointed I could not download photographs from ipod. Photographs transferred from dvdexcellent and slideshow a good feature. Music imported from itunes on my computer needs reformatting in order for it to work with music jukebox. Unable to use on home networking at the moment as router adsl connection needed close by.
#easy to use (2009-06-22) This DVD recorder has everything you would expect. The only downside to it is it will not play dics recorded and finalised on my previous DVD recorder with hard drive, very annoying.
#A few reservations (2009-06-16) An impressive piece of kit, no more fiddling with the video recorder, record what you want to watch, select and play at your leisure, masses of storage. Simple. Once you have got it set up. We found the freeview guide plus to be the biggest pain ever - few instructions in the box for this particular function, a website address with frequenly asked questions support (who wants to read through everybody elses questions and answers thats what I want to know). I am sure that we must be doing something wrong - something probably very simple but what ever ...
#Sorry, not really a review but a few questions. Please help??? (2009-06-11) I ve been thinking about getting this DVD Recorder for a while now but I have a few questions:1) Would I be able to record one channel and watch another (My hdtv has freeview built in if this helps)?2) Would I be able to rewind Live TV (i ve seen some that start recording when you switch to a new channel thus allowing you to rewind)?3) I have a Samsung VCR, would i be able to connect it to this DVD Recorder and transfer home videos from the VCR to the HDD?4) I have a satellite (Hotbird) connected to my TV, woul...

#A cracking DVD recorder (2009-06-30) At last a DVD recorder that is easy to use, even the mother in law can use it. You can record on disk or straight onto the hard drive which means not having to buy anymore discs and not having to keep checking whats on what disc. I would highly recommend this recorder.
#Idiot-proof recorder! (2009-06-28) I owned a Sony SVR S-500, which recorded two programmes at the same time, and was almost £300 when I bought it 2 and a half years ago. It was nothing but trouble and in the first year had both circuit boards replaced. It often started recordings early, so I got 4 minutes of ads and missed the end of a programme. That s when it bothered to record anything at all. Sony didn t even reply to my letters, so I have voted with my feet and gone to Panasonic and- it s brilliant so far. It DOES have a series link, and the only negative so far is that irrita...
#very difficult to understand instructions (2009-06-27) I have had the machine for 3 weeks and still cannot find out how to display subtitles from recorded programmes. Everything is done by the very complicated book but no result and no help line to ask. Otherwise the machine seems ok quality of picture from TV is not as good as freesat.
#panasonic DMR--EX769EB-K DVD recordser (2009-06-25) Every thing that I hoped for. Easy to set up and , so far at least- easy to use. Have stuck to Panasonic for several yeaRS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. EDDIE dEVON
#My experience of Panasonic DVD recorders (2009-06-19) NOT DIRECTLY RELEVANT TO THIS PARTICULAR MODEL but I ve had to give a star rating of some sort before these comments could be accepted for this site. I ve now had 5 unsatisfactory Panasonic DVD recorders. . . one DMR-RES10, two DMR-ES20 and now two DMR-EZ27. . . . . . . . each chosen because there has been so little choice of other makes available with DVD-RAM capability. They have all packed up or developed serious problems shortly after the manufacturers one-year guarantee has expired. I have been considering this product, wh...
