#A good unit but some niggles (2009-06-22) I recently replaced my Tomtom GO 500 which was 5 years old for the new 740 Live. I like the new slim model and the new suction is extremely good. Although I have only had it a few weeks I am dissappointed with the mapping because it has tried to send me down 2 closed roads (one has been closed at least 5 years) and one no right turn so far. I have changed this on the map share facility which is useful and not available on my old 500. The lane guidance at motorway turnings is a good addition and the voice instructions naming the next road ...
#Tom Tom Live 740 (2009-06-21) I haven t driven for a long time and just wanted to get a bit of help whilst getting from A to B. Tom Tom 740 is a great product, easy to use, reliable, and when buying from Amazon, I saved at least £50!
#Expensive To Keep Worthwhile (2009-06-20) A very clever SatNav device though to keep it up-to-date, maps cost £30 each plus £40 a year to keep updated on top of the £7. 99ish fee for the Live Services. If you are willing to pay that then the device is brilliant, if not it doesn t serve its purpose
#Tom Tom 740 (2009-06-15) I purchased this unit 2 June and as always with Amazon it arrived within a few days, however this 740 was bought as the previous 730T started showing wrong speed limits which could not be changed except to 1 mph either side of the actual limit ie speed limit of 40 would only show 39 or 41. Very annoying. Then after connecting to Tom Tom site speed cameras dissappeared from the unit which could not be fixed even by Tom Tom who said it was a software issue, so it was returned as faulty. I thought as the 740 was a new model these problems would be a thing of ...
#Excellent product (2009-06-01) Great product, no regrets so far. The screen is good, the speed it locks your position, is impressive. I would say don t buy this model unless you are willing to pay the £80 per year Traffic/Live subscription, it is more of a business travellers GPS than a A-B GPS that most users will need. Tom Tom as always are expensive for maps, so for a basic GPS I still think Garmin are better.

#Impressed with the GO 940 Live but still some bugs to iron out (2009-06-28) Excellent performance so far from this unit. Shame the Live services don t yet work across Europe. If tomtom could improve on one thing it should be to extend the live services to match the mapped areas. This until still has some annoying bugs. The voice command is great, but when trying Navigate to a Favourite it appears to understand correctly but then goes off and navigates to the wrong favourite! TomTom say its a known bug and they are working on it. The more people report these things the quicker they ...
#Tom Tom 940 Live (2009-06-25) I had a Tom Tom 300 Go and it gave good service for years, so decided to upgrade to the 940 Live and have not been disappointed! Does all it says on the box, the live traffic feature is really useful, and the fact that this sat nav gets connected to the satellite in milliseconds unlike the 300 which took forever! The voice feature is a bit shakey at times, but am still able to understand what I m being told. The fee for continuing the Live service after 3 months seems a little steep, at £2 a week. Feel for the money a case could have been included, one w...
#Great device - if a little geeky (2009-06-16) As a 25,000 miles a year driver, sat nav is essential. Previously had a built in sat nav in the car, but my new car didnt have the option so I had to buy a stand alone unit. Went for this model as I also drive in the US (switching between US and Europe maps is really easy and you also specify a Home for the US map separately). No doubt there may be problems with defective units, but I feel that a lot of the negative comments relate to the complicated nature of the device. There are a lot of features and I feel that you do have to be ve...
#TOMTOM GO 940 (2009-06-11) Simple to use, quick search, large screen : perfect !(Sometimes, difficulties due to the clouds)
#Great unit but has a problem? (2009-05-30) As with a previous comment made in a review, this Tom Tom has a major screen problem in sunlight!! It s totaly useless. The screen it s self is great but it s the contast that causes the problem with reflection. If you were to compare to earlier models, you will note the defention and contrast was good but I don t know why they have change this. I have spoken to Tom Tom who say the screen format and software are the same as other models, but I have a 920 which is far deeper and richer with the colours than this 940. Tom Tom are great Sat...

#Forerunner 205 (2009-06-30) As only a beginner I can t stress how good this watch is. All the motivation you need when running, for instance on the way back from a run and you have clocked up 3. 5 miles it spurs you on to run 4 miles rather than finishing your run. A must for any runner no matter how poor/talented you are. The only down side I could find was that it can take a while to find a signal, sometimes 10 seconds othertimes 4 minutes
#Thr brilliant Garmin Forerunner 205 (2009-05-25) I brought the Forerunner 205 to train for my local half marathon. Downloading my training sessions, I could visually see where I slow, where I was fast and which average speed I could maintain. It allowed me to know how far if I was running on a new route and plan when to head back home. On the day of the half marathon, it stopped me setting off too fast and helped me notice when my speed was dropping off. The signal reception is superb with no loss of signal under tress and the display is clear and large enough to read when running....
#Excellent device (2009-05-25) I ve had this device for a year. I cannot fault it. Knocks the spots off the pedometers & ipod gizmos I ve used previously. I don t personally use all of the functions it offers, but have found the device to be configurable to suit personal taste. The only problem I have with device is that the USB drivers can be a bit flaky. Having said that I ve never lost data & have always been able to reinstall them. The device s output shows up nicely in Garmin training centre & there are many other applications you can use. Visual display of data in google ea...
#garmin forerunner 205 (2009-05-07) I recently purchased this item for my London Marathon and found it much more comfortable to wear than the 105 which was bulky and ugly in comparison and you also save money on batteries. It rarely loses its signal and fits like a glove.
#More effective training (2009-04-17) Great device. . . fits well, quick instructions make it so easy to use, does make you a bit obsessive about constantly looking at your pace( and often being a bit disappointed you re not as quick as you thought!) but certainly helps you formulate an improved run, i can run further because it s helped sort my pacing out. . . much improvement. i am sure all runners would benefit from it s use. Makes you a bit competitive!!

#Unsafe Product (2009-05-10) This product is danergously unfit for purpose. The mounting bracket does not adhere properly even to a clean windscreen resulting in the unit falling off on frequent occasion. This is not only very distracting for the driver but there is a risk of the unit become lodged in the driving controls. Both of these factors are likely to cause an accident. Think carefully before you but this product.
#Good satnav but with 3 unacceptable flaws (2009-05-09) I bought one of these for the advanced features of live update and because it was listed as compatible with my iPhone 3G. It works most of the time as a satnav (though has a tendency to crash and reboot at in-opportune times) but it won t work reliably as a hands free for the iPhone 3G. It works sporadically but often refuses to pair (the iPhone see s it fine but it doesn t see the phone). I ve had a problem out with Tomtom for 3 months about this and they ve had me try every thing from resets, wiping and rebuilding the device ...
#TomTom (2009-05-01) A good product, reliable and easy to use, with touch screen and voice instruction functions. Instant live traffic report gave an estimated time of traffic delay on your route and suggested an alternative quicker route if there was one available. However, even fully charged, the built-in battery operation time was around two hours if without in-car power supply. The hand free voice instruction function did not work particularly well.
#first sat nav experiences (2009-04-16) Checking my requirements against the various TomTom versions was easy. I think i bought the right one for me and have since found others who bought cheaper models and now wish they hadn t!Using it has proved easy, although it thinks my elder daughter lives in the street next to the one she actually lives in and my younger daughter s house number is not recognised - so much for post codes! however my son and his house are accurately recognised! The instantly found alternative route to avoid a long delay on the M1 earlier this week was very benfi...
#TomTom GO 540 LIVE (2009-04-07) Excellent product. Very reliable, never misses a beat. Updates are excellent and the traffic facility is spot on. Advanced Lane Guidance is really impressive when approaching tricky motorway junctions.

#Review No1 (2009-06-19) The product came with a clear instruction booklet, easy to read and easy to follow. A CD was included which made for a more constructive use of the instructions with internet back up for the product
#more expensive is much better? (2009-06-07) My first introduction to satellite navigation systems was when I bought a cheap Tom Tom One V3. Prices had come down to the point where saving time on ten journeys became less than ten quid. The technology made driving in unfamiliar towns possible and safe. This in itself was worth more than the £90. 00 I paid. When I broke my statnav by wrenching the cable by accident I decided to consider a better version. The Tom Tom maps had been satisfactory, but not up to date (is any?). The small screen had been Ok and the screen design usable. ...
#Tom Tom sat nav (2009-05-28) The sat nav is great , very clear directions , better than my old Garmin which seemed to talk if it felt like it !I agree with other reviews that the attachment to hold it to the window is cheap , they could have done better with that , it seems like penny pinching for what is a very good product.
#better than the tomtom540live (2009-05-19) i purchased the TomTom540live in dec 2008 and i didnt think much of it but my partner liked it alot so now he as the 540live and i purchased the GO530. which i am very happy with. . mainly because i was able to find avoid motorways on the GO530 which i couldnt find on the 540live. . . the only thing is the car window mount is not as good as the 540live. and can easy fall off. . . apart from this small disappointment im very happy with the item. . . .
#Upgraded to redundancy (2009-05-15) Since the latest (compulsory) software update my 530 is now useless to me, as it requires the input of a house number for every destination, which I don t have, although I do input a full 6 digit postcode. I am looking forward to putting the unit on a good piece of hard ground, smashing it into a million tiny pieces with a pound hammer and then looking for a GPS brand that does what I ask of it.
