#Garmin overhauled nuvi 200 - brilliant! (2009-06-29) This is my first ever sat-nav. Selected following the many mostly positive Garmin Nuvi 200 user comments and reviews. Printed instructions are sparse so best to just use it and discover its features step by step. Works very accurately, instantly amending/updating info. if one makes a wrong turn, when changing routes for personal preference and/or varying driving speeds. Important note: I had wrongly assumed that all sat-navs allowed advance route planning like say AA Route Planner but currently only dearer models seem to offer t...
#Fatal floor (2009-06-24) The Garmin Nuvi 200 is basically an excellent unit, and other reviewers make good comments that I won t reiterate here. Personally I think it has a fatal flaw:Having entered a route, your current speed is NOT displayed on screen! To view your speed you must tap to go to the dashboard, which does indeed display your current speed, but at this point it no longer shows your current position on the 3D map, with crucial stuff like what s coming up next?. The Garmin FAQ states the units are designed to do this.
#complicated slow software updates (2009-06-23) the reason i only gave this 3 stars is because of the complex and not very good software update web site , spent 2-3 hours geting latest map only for garmin 200 to say no maps were loaded, so spent another frustrating 2 hours before finally succeeding to download latest map to unit. having said that once done cant fault the kit for price, easy to set and works extremely well so far
#excellent satnav (2009-06-20) Have just bought my Garmin nuvi 200 to replace a Tom Tom XL which gave me a load of trouble. I wuld recommend the Garmin for ease of use, good value for money etc. A very compact unit well worth the money
#Garmin09 (2009-06-09) Recently bought this product and I am really pleased with it. Good value for money and also easy and simple to use, basically does what it says in the tin! Picks up all your speed cameras as well which is good if you are travelling long distances. Overall happy with my purchase and the price I got it for.

#TomTom XL does what it says on the tin (2009-07-01) Have used it several times in France, UK and Belgium and hasn t let me down once. A few roads have changed in France which haven t found their way on the map yet but apart from that can t fault it. Bought a cheap mainscharger (I believe a Motorola one) for a few pounds and works perfectly with it. Flat screen, easy to stick to the windscreen (and doesn t fall off). Highly recommended.
#Disappointed (2009-06-23) Very disappointed with the product as We live in Guernsey, Channel Islands and the Tom Tom doesnt work here, had we been told this we would not have bought it how come it works in UK and Most of Europe but not the Channel Islands, but looking forward to going to France on Sunday, hope it works there.
#Good product, fast delivery (2009-06-18) Very good price- especially with the european maps!My dad loved it!!!!!! Fast, simple and easy to use.
#Brilliant GPS device (2009-06-14) I got this device a few months ago. . . it s been brilliant each time I use it. Definitely useful for a regular traveller. It has already helped me when there was an accident blocking the whole road in the midst of an unknown area I had to find a way around.
#Tom Tom One XL v2 Western Europe (2009-06-13) This sat nav is a must for any traveller. It is simple to use and very effective. Found us a couple of short cuts from Cardiff airport to the West coast of Wales. Excellent value for money and can t wait to use it in France and beyond. . .

#Very good (2009-07-01) Used it in various circumstances during getaway week-ends. This product is excellent to plan the route with a final point of arrival and intermediate points of interest. Planning with postcodes is possible. Vocal indications at crossings and direction changes are very accurate and timely. The details on screen are very easily readable. There are avoidance options according to the kind of trip you re embarking on: offroad, motorways, tolls. At any point, it is possible to deviate from the original route to find a petrol station, for instance, out of the list of ...
#Nuvi 255 (2009-06-28) Excellent low cost sat nav. Does everything you need and is compact enough to fit in your back pocket. Start up is really quick and the device is easy to use. You can also charge it from the supplied car 12V connector, your laptop, or (in my case) my motorola mobile phone charger did the trick.
#EXCELLENT VALUE (2009-05-25) Nuvi 255 used recently in Spain proved excellent. Can lead you to your destination by some unlikely routes however it got us there. Does not have some of the extras contained in some more expensive models however purchased as a GPS and does what it says on the tin. Great value for money.
#Garmin Nuvi 255 (2009-04-16) Nice basic unit that does everytthing I require. EU mapping especially useful & along with cost one of the main reasons for purchase.
#Great in UK, but just OK in Spain (2008-10-20) I bought a Garmin Nuvi 255 after hours, days and weeks of reading reviews and comparing features! I wanted it for our first trip to Spain, where we would be hiring a car. There seemed to be many places it did not recognise and, at times, it was very frustrating when it kept leading us round the same route, telling us to go down a one way street the wrong way, when we were trying to get it to direct us to a car park. Another time, it lead us off the beaten track, down a dusty lane way out in the sticks, telling us to turn down another ...

#Unexpectedly disappointed (2009-06-30) Having read the good reviews here, I was looking forward to trying out my new TomTom One Classic UK & Republic of Ireland which I received yesterday. But. . . There s a lot of detail missing in Northern Ireland. It refuses to accept the existence of my house (which is old), or of my friend s house (which is new), or of my work address in Belfast (30 Wellington Park). I have tried entering those details by both postcode and street address, but to no avail. I m getting bored of the phrase No matches found. POI is woefully lacking. It ...
#Good little Gadget with minor software faults (2009-06-29) The Tom Tom One is a great little Gadget and I am so surprised that I hadn t bought one earlier. Just one drawback appears to be the preinstalled software. I have owned one for about 6 months now and the device had been working absolutely fine until a couple of weeks agao when I was trying to navigate out of a town in Leicestershire. All of a sudden the device started losing the GPS signal and became useless for an hour or two. Over the next few days, this became more and more of a problem before losing all its ability to...
#Handy Tom Tom (2009-06-22) Device is sleek and slim , can fit in a pocket if you are not driving for theft safety. Easy attachable and detachable and has good grip on glass.
#Such an improvement (2009-06-21) I bought a cheap Sat Nav about three years ago and it was temperamental, involved plugging in an external antennae (attached to the roof), and was incapable of giving directions around northern Warwickshire. This Tom Tom is simple, easy to use, and - so far - has been absolutely fine for getting me from A to B (even in Warwickshire)!Screen size is a little small but perfectly adequate and the sucker mount is compatible with the Braketron Nav Mat from South Mids Products which means it can sit on the dash board without sliding around and avoid leaving su...
#Great Tom Tom (2009-06-21) Great Sat Nav, got it brand new, good packaging, great product, easy to set up and the twist suction pad on the back is great - not a chance of it falling off your windscreen! For a tom tom, cheapest I could find on anywhere on Amazon.

#Superb, but strange routes (2009-07-02) Having never owned a satnav before I consulted various reviews and bought this model. The directions are usually OK, but occasionally it will get things wrong. For example if the main road turns right and a minor road carries straight on then the directions for going down the main road will say Turn left instead of go straight ahead. A little confusing if you are unaware that the right hand turn is part of the same road that you are travelling on. My advise is to glance at the display to confirm the directions. The biggest problem with it, an...
#Does the job... (2009-06-30) Had to contact the helpline and was very impressed by the quality of service received.
#Disappointing!! Had it for 1 month and looking to replace it already! (2009-06-28) Despite the good screen resolution, good spoken directions, speed camera alerts and reasonably takes you from A to B, everything else about this device is below my expectations. - The traffic function doesnt work properly. - The detour function is kind of useless. it doesnt suggest smart detours and doesnt even take traffic into account!- The interface can be over simplified in some places, and too complicated in others. . e. g on the main screen, it doesnt have the tomtom feature of showing you vis...
#A toy. No real options. (2009-06-26) Let s be clear. It does - mostly - work. I am also reasonably happy with how quickly it picks up satellites. But that is the basics of a GPS. Let s look at some of the other things:- It beeps at you if you re going over the speed limit in an area where there are speed cameras. Fair enough. But it also beeps at you (a different and actually more annoying beep) if you re going under the limit. So heading along the A13 where there s a speed camera about every 50 metres, it won t shut up!- To get to the volume control you have to dig through ...
#Nuvi 255WT - Full Europe Mapping IT Is NOT (2009-06-25) Garmin Nuvi 255WT with Full EU Mapping I bought this unit complete with Full EU Mapping pre-installed. I was assured that when I arrived in Europe the unit would recognise its location and load the appropriate maps. Others confirmed this. I updated the Garmin maps i. a. w. instructions on first use. I updated the maps again just prior to our departure to Iberia on 6 May 09. The Garmin website and the unit itself both confirmed the updates were correct. In UK the Garmin works as advertised and I have found it remarkably ac...
