#Excellent (2009-07-04) I bought this product after having had my PC s motherboard failed and I wanted to be assured of future protecton. It is simplicity to use and works perfectly using the backup facility in Vista, I didn t bother installing the supplied software. Thoroughly recommended.

#No problems (2009-06-29) I spent a long time reading reviews and trying to weigh up what to do. I bought this product because I wanted a reliable and easy-to-use bit of storage for my laptop. It has been working with no problems for months and I wish I d bought one earlier. I ve got all of my music and photos safely stored and the My Book runs silently. It looks great too and takes up very little room. Excellent!
#Using MyBook for Apple Mirror RAID (2009-06-25) Not sure what went wrong - I got a pair of these from Amazon and after I built the RAID in software [a doddle with Mac OS X even for someone like me that had not done it before] something went wrong with one of the drives and it kept un-mounting. Western Digital were very helpful after I had done the obvious things like re-initialising, but it still kept un-mounting. WD would have replaced it, but it is even easier with the Amazing Amazon returns service and all is now well, tho for various reasons I have not yet tried to recreate the ...

#ACE (2009-07-04) This is my first external hard disk, comapred to some friends it is not the fastest but it is brilliant, easy to set up, small, good looking, no anoying fan noises! 5 out of 5! thanks
#Great compatibility (2009-07-02) The format it uses is FAT32, which means that it s compatible with almost everything. I use it to store Play TV recordings, and i m very pleased with it. Word of warning though, if FAT32 has a limit. You can t copy files that are greater than 4GB in size, but you re looking at HD feature films to reach that size.

#Maxtor 1TB (2009-06-23) Maxtor 1TB Basics Desktop USB 2. 0 External Hard Drive Very happy with this product. Also very happy with Amazon service.
#Yet another failed Maxtor drive!! (2009-06-23) Bought one of these from PC world, should have read the reviews here first because it packed in after a month or so. . . . . data loss seems to be a common feature not mentioned in the blurb. It is under warranty till 2012 but Maxtor (now seagate) charge for data recovery when still in warranty, the cheek! What s the point of being offered a replacement disc. . . . they re rubbish and the data is the important thing. If Seagate/Maxtor had any confidence in their products surely they would offer free data recovery in drives still unde...

#Good external drive, lousy lead - at first (2009-06-02) Seagate external drives are a good product, as good as they come. My winge concerns the power lead. It came with a strange clip-together two prong Euro plug. By the time I plugged this into a UK adapter, the whole thing looked a right Heath Robinson piece of kit. Am I along in feeling out in the sticks, when we are provided with jury-rigged leads to help us cope with our archaic power system? Don t forget we led the World in the era that these things were set up. That s why we drive on the left, have AC current, funny traff...
#Seagate 500GB external hard drive (2009-06-01) Being a non technical type,I was pleasantly surprised to find it falls into the plug in and play category of computer apparatus. Set up procedure was laid out in a series of easy to follow steps and it was up and running within 15 minutes. Very impressed, the on line support, and product registration was very quick to make itself known. Altogether excellent first impression. Regards George B.
#ALL the external hard drives are crap, BUT thanks for giving a 5 year warranty (2009-04-23) i have had external hard drives before. my seagate 320gb crashed after working 2 years and i lost so many pictures family movies etc. from then i realized that this happen with every external hard drive. so nowdays i back up all the important files to DVDs . its really working. so if u know every hard drive gonna die oneday , what would u buy. . something that offers a long term warranty. so i do not have to spend anymoney on e. h. drives as i will get a free replacement from seagate if th...
#fast, secure, easy software - very happy customer (2009-04-07) Software easy to set up - even for the IT illiterate - and not mandatory if you do not want to use it, 5 yr Seagate guarantee worth something to me as I don t want the back up drive to fail, About as fast as USB 2 allows, First back up took ages but subsequent runs much faster as it updates changed files, Keep it unplugged and away from your machine and you have inexpensive off-site backup.
#Works a treat (2009-02-27) Bought 2 of these disks and they work very well. Wanted a USB drive for a server and these work because they have an external power supply
