#Great print server (2009-01-28) This device is fantastic, if you have a HP printer and a wireless network then this is an easy solution. I have one of these with a HP Laser 1022, and it now means that the printer is located downstairs where it can be accessed, rather than tucked in a corner with the server upstairs. It works by creating a virtual USB port on your computer, and then connecting on demand. I wouldn t say it is a solution for any high volume managed printing, but it works great as for SOHO/home use. It deserves 5 stars, but I can only give it 4 because it took a bit of...

#Disappointed (2009-05-17) Wish I d read all the reviews about this before buying, I wouldn t have bothered as we have an all in one printer so the scanner won t work without switching over to the pc connection and on our apple mac I haven t been able to get the new printer driver installed for our Epson Stylus Photo R800. I bit of a waste of money for us.
#Works for MAC and PC (2009-02-10) Simple to set up, works reliably with my Samsung laser printer now shared on a secure wireless network between two Macs and a PC.
#Appalling Technical Support (2008-10-01) I purchased this print server 4 weeks ago, and the installation disc won t work with setting my printer up, an Epson Sylus Photo R300. The printer is on their compatible list. Since then I ve spent the last 4 weeks going backwards and forward to their online, and voice technical support, which I m quite frankly appalled with. It takes at least 24 hours for someone to get back to you, and each time it s someone different, that I ve gone round and round in circles since. I m pretty close to just selling this on Ebay, bacause it s no use to ...
#great product - this works and works! (2008-07-11) I ve got a wireless network of 10 PC s in a busy commercial environment. Following the instructions I had all ten computers printing wirelessly to a new laser printer - all done within 3 hours. I was very impressed. One PC had a non-functioning CD Rom drive. One phone call to Netgear solved the problem, they told me exactly what to do to set it up, even without using the setup CD included with the product! Thank you, Netgear!
#OK for basic printing (2008-04-08) The concept behind this product sounds good but it has limitations. The first is that the USB port to the printer is one way, so forget attaching a multi-function printer unless you only want to print and copy, scanning is out. Also if you have simple printing needs this is OK, it will quite happily spool off the odd letter and will cope with some picture printing but not all. The problem is that unlike a direct connect from your PC to printer, if the printer is running slow (I. E. printing a photo or documents with heavy graphics or just big docu...

#Unreliable... the worst idea for a back-up solution (2009-07-02) I bought this device with hopes that it would sit quietly on my network as a NAS and provide a back-up space for my files. It does - sometimes - and then it stops being accessible and requires a reset. Sometimes it sits there, disk access light chattering away and there is nothing else active on the network. Right now I can t even log into it so - sigh - another reste coming up. The supplied back-up software is DREADFUL. It sets up easily and then backs up. However later on, if the drive fails and teh connection i...
#It does the simple things I need... and (for the money) that ll do nicely!! (2009-05-06) I have been looking for something to allow me a decent chunk of storage space with a NAS aspect so that I could take my PC out of the equation for network file access (previously had it stored on a Seagate 500gb USB drive) easily. I ve tried many a thing (including the alternative to NAS Linksys NSLU2) but nothing seemed to hold up for very long. I read the mixed reviews about this Linkstation, (500gb model) and whilst very informative were, for me, inconclusive. So, I decided to take the plun...
#Not as good as expected (2009-04-18) I have had one of these for over a year and finally returned it for a refund. First impressions were good but after a while it started to develop faults, like turning itself off which was bad enough when at home but when I was trying to access it remotely it was damned annoying. Reloaded the firmware and it seemed to solve the problem. Drive has always been noisy with it chattering away like its doing a defrag all the time. This can t be good for the life of the drive. Then just recently it started disappearing from the network completely and ...
#Buffalo Linkstation HS-DH500GL (2009-04-06) I read up about this product before I bought it, so there were no surprises for me. It s a great cost effective way to get 500GB of storage and make it available to all the PCs on your network. From a Windows PC you can access it from My Network Places or you can map network drives to it. I ve coppied all my music MP3 s, Family Photos and Home videos onto it for safe keeping (rather than storing them on a PC and never bothering to back them up). You can create separate folders (these appear as separate shares in my network places) and assig...
#Great storage solution (2009-03-09) This is a great home solution solution. I ve lost important data in the past from disk crashes, so I was looking for a SIMPLE way to protect my data, music and photos from a disk crash, fire or burglary. The LinkStation is ethernet, so unlike many USB drives, it can be hidden away in a garage or anywhere you can get ethernet to. I use SecondCopy to sync everything daily to a backup area on my main PC, and any PC local data to the Linkstation backup area. Works like a dream. It s quiet, easy to set up and protect, and while it s not as fast ...

Edimax 1Port USB Print Server for All-In

#Instalation is a nightmare (2009-05-19) I bought the edimax mfp server because I hate wires. I have a laptop and wanted to be completely mobile and print from anywhere in the house. My Epson stylus DX4000 all-in-one printer is 100% compatable, I followed the instructions to the letter but got nowhere. I searched on line for answers and was advised to download the latest drivers direct from their sight as the supplied disk is out of date. This I did, and I also downloaded step-by-step instructions with nice, easy to follow pictures. I still cannot get the server manager utility...
#Excellent product..... (2009-01-10) I had previously thought that my (host based) HP Laserjet 1020 was unusable with all print servers, but after checking the Edimax compatibility list I went ahead and ordered the PS-1206MF. This product has saved me over £100 (the cost of a network enabled printer) great product, only given 4 stars because instructions were not great.
#Very useful and well priced print server (2008-12-30) I have read a few reviews on here that don t rate this highly, but that may possibly be down to the technical ability of the buyer, not the product. Setting up a Network print server is more sophisticated than plug and play, but after a few initial glitches (possibly down to MY network), I have found this device almost 100% reliable and it DOES show the printer cartridge level, and allow you to scan, and allow you to print, all with relative ease. But each machine must first create a dedicated connection. The software does that...
#Useless! (2008-12-01) Not only does this device not allow the use of all functions of my canon MFP, as it states, it also blew the fuses on my surge protector and main fusebox. It s gone straight back
#Fantastic but one pitfall. (2008-11-24) Works just as advertised:- I can scan and print with my Canon MP610 just as if directly connected, using a desktop or a laptop. There is one pitfall not made clear in the instructions. BEWARE!You must use the device manager to connect if you want to scan. YOU MUST DISCONNECT before it will print! You must also disconnect from one computer before connecting to another for scanning. As others have said it helps to have a minimal knowledge of your network. Tiny and unobtrusive,I would highly recommend this.

Edimax WiFi&USB Print Server for All-In1

#Not a good choice! (2009-06-25) Print server constantly locks up. I print from Vista and XP. Have tried using RAW, LPR and IPP. Have to power on and off each time I want to do a print. Does not support WPA2-AES, so I have to use my router in mixed mode. Not recommended.
#never fully functional (2009-06-09) It s more than an year now I have this item. My home network run 4 WinXP PCs and a Linux Ubuntu laptop. However, I can t say it has ever been fully working: today it works, and tomorrow it doesn t. No matter what I do. At some point I gave up and, given that the printer is close to the router, I decided to disable the wireless and use the wired capabilities. However, also in this case, with reduced capabilities, I never got to the point in which I have a fully working device when I need it. My wife has sometime to move and connect the printe...
#Works well but difficult to set up (2009-05-25) This little device actually works quite well but it seems quite complicated to set up and get working properly. Before you install this, make sure you have installed all your printer drivers first, and as other reviewers have commented, download the latest versions of firmware, utilities and driver, especially if running Vista. Also make sure you have you SSID set to broadcast, you can always disable it again afterwards. Do not set wireless to enable when installing, set it to auto because if the install doesn t work you will not ...
#Review EDIMAX ps-1206mfg 1 port usb wireless print server (2009-05-11) This print server is a piece of rubbish . It took many hours trying to get it to work with my laptop , via my wireless modem/router , and success was only partially achieved after disconnecting some features on my laptop(no info about this with the instruction manual ) & then connecting laptop directly by cable to the MFG print server & only then could my MFG be seen by the laptop. At the beginning when i told the support person i had connected the MFG to the router & the printer but the MFG still wouldn t work ...
#Nightmare to set up but... (2009-04-25) once done it is a great little item. We have 3 computers (2 XP, 1 Vista)linked up to it. Gone are the days of having to take the laptops to the printer (Epson SX200 multifunction) - now we just control-P-print from wherever we are! I have not tried any other functions yet - although to be honest printing is the only function I required wirelessly. As has been written before it is best not to expect too much from the instructions - in fact I just had the Amazon Reviews open and followed what a previous reviewer (Fork Handles) had done. A l...
