#Excellent little lens (2009-06-22) I have had this lens for a few months now and use with a 450D. I ve been using it as a general walk about lens and got some absolutly wonderful results with it. The slight telephoto effect means you do have to move about rather a lot, however I ve found this makes me think a great deal more about the actual composition of the pictures, giving better overall results. The f 1. 8 means you can take pictures inside without a flash which gives a much more natural light and throws the rest of the image into soft focus. I ve blown many pictures up on...
#Can t compare with my kit lens (2009-06-17) I bought this lens mainly for indoor shooting with no flash on my EOS 50D. I thought the wide aperture would make this possible but I still had to up the ISO to 1000 and above to get a decently fast shutter speed even at f1/8. The lack of IS added to my dilemma. Also at this wide aperture, the focus is extremely shallow and I was not even able to focus a subject completely, only a section of it. The autofocus was about the only impressive feature as this worked well even in low light. The 50D s peripheral illumination correction syst...
#Just buy it! (2009-06-06) Had this lens for just 1 week so far. Haven t failed to be impressed with it in every way. As many have said, it s build quality isn t great, but what do you expect for the price. However the results are just fab. Buy it!
#You have Canon DSLR? Why don t you have this lens yet? (2009-05-24) Now, all of my Canon owning friends have this lens, and it is the favorite lens for almost all of them. Expect of course for those few who can afford L-series lenses, but comparing this to an L-series lens isn t fair anyway. It is very fast with f/1. 8. And for the money it is the fastest good quality lens you can get. Canon s next prime lens with faster aperture of f/1. 4 costs about four times as much. Yes it is faster and USM, but you would expect it to be with that price tag. Obviously this isn t a cover all s...
#Prime Lens, 50mm (2009-05-18) Good glass, fair price for lens. A prime lens make users think and look for using other ways to make images with a fast and fixed length lens, this improves users skill. This lens f/1. 8 av gives excelent performance and can be used in or out of doors with good results. The price for f/1. 4 and f/1. 2 primes is high, and this Canon lens will be welcomed in lens bag, both for price and performence.

#excellent lens for the price (2009-06-12) This really is a great lens for the price. As an enthusiastic amatuer looking for something to compliment his 18-55mm this is the perfect add on. I find myself constantly shifting between the two lenses to get the right shot which is great because it means I can capture exactly what I want even if the subject is distant. Also with such a long range lens the IS function is a big help in getting rid of shake. Best of all though is the price - only £200. Sure there are better lenses offering similar range but nothing I could find for my 450D...
#Doesn t work on some Canon Digital cameras (2009-05-19) I bought this for my Canon 10d - Tried it and it doesn t fit. I thought the for selected digital cameras meant for Canon cameras. After trawling the internet I found this:The EF-S 55-250IS is designed for use only with small (APS-C) sensor Canon cameras introduced after the Digital Rebel. It will not physically mount on cameras with larger sensors (EOS 5D, EOS 1D(s) series) and it will not mount on early APS-C DSLRs such as the EOS D30, D60 and 10D. It cannot be used with any Canon or 3rd party TC, nor can it be used wit...
#Better than I thought (2009-05-11) Have had the lens for a couple of weeks now and it s been everywhere with me. The quality of the images is superb and the Image Stabiliser really makes up for the extra 50mm you might get on a similar lens. You really can get very nice close up shots without a tripod. When you manipulate images on screen the clarity means you can get in even closer. Anyone who has bought a decent SLR (Canon EOS or similar) and has just got the standard 18-55mm lens really must consider getting this as it makes better use of the camera.
#Excellent value with amazing pictures (2009-05-10) After 6 months with my canon 400d I bought this lens after seeing all the good reviews said about this product , and they were right ! I recently went on a ski holiday and the lens really helped me capture close up shots of skiiers while I was far away on the chair lifts. The Image Stabalisation was a life saver as when fully zoomed in you got horrible camera shake, however when turned on the image floated nicely in from of you, perfect for a good shot. The sharpness of the lens also is a good improvement on the standard kit lens , I...
#I am an amateur but ..... (2009-04-22) I just love using this lense. The pictures are fantastic. Sorry I m not a techie so can t tell you why they are so good - they just are.

#Remember to switch off before changing lenses !!! (2009-06-27) The users manual tells you to switch the camera off before changing lenses, but does not say why. I made this mistake when an unidentified bird landed nearby and I wanted to photograph it quickly. Doing so causes physical damage wihin the camera which costs £92 to repair. It might have been covered by warranty but I can t find it. Will I get it repaired anyway? No, because I can t trust myself not to do the same thing again.
#Nikon 55-200MM F4.5-5.6G AF-S VR DX Black Lens (2009-06-13) After a year of using a cheaper non Nikon lens i finally got that fed up with missing out on those all important shots because i had to keep manually focusing. So i thought Enough is enoygh it s time to open my wallet and let the moths out and get a real lense. So to see what lense would do me better off i went to pick the brains of my local photo shop a well big company and got all the info i needed and told them i would have a think about the amount off money i was about to spend with them. Got onlione as soon as i got ...
#Does what it says on the box (2009-06-01) Having been away from serious amateur photography for many years I had recently purchased a Nikon D60 dSLR and was looking for a lens to supplement the standard 18-55mm lens. I would have liked the 70-300mm (Nikon AF-S VR 70-300 f/4. 5-5. 6G IF-ED) but the price was prohibitively expensive, this lens is a steal at the price. The image is sharp, the autofocus is quick, it s not heavy - what more could you want?
#Not built to last & not robust- autofocus can suddenly fail! (2009-05-31) I ve had this for just over 18 months to use with the D40X as an occasional alternative to the kit lens, and I doubt if I ve taken more than a couple of hundred photos with it at the most. At first it seemed like a really good lens and the quality was excellent. However when I needed it to take a quick snap recently it wouldn t work at all and I completely missed the opportunity to get a good picture. Obviously I assumed I d done something wrong with the camera settings but after a lot of fiddling with co...
#The D40 needs this lens (2009-05-29) I cannot add more to the excellent (5-star) reviews already submitted, but I have just purchased this lens and can only say that it does the D40 real justice, if you don t mind swapping with the kit 18-55 when you need it (splash out on the Nikon 18-200MM F3. 5-5. 6G IF-ED AF-S VR DX if you do not want to swap lenses) I would actually say this lens is essential, matched to a D40, with the kit lens, I can see no need for anything else for day to day photography.

With the SAL-75300 lens from Sony, you ll be able to take your own professional-quality photos.

#Good Telephoto, good quality (2009-07-01) This is a good telephoto lens for the price. Lightweight and nice focus. It has sufficient depth of field to get some good shots of wildlife, mountains or buildings. The shots I took came out clear and sharp. For the price I say this is a good buy.
#Great product (2009-06-17) Easy to use, excellent value. Wish I had bought it sooner. No drawbacks discovered so far.
#Sony Alpha 75-300mm lens (2009-04-23) This is my first lens for my first DSLR and I wanted a lens that I could use for birwatching/ nature photos. I wasn t sure what I wanted and with so many types on the market, I figured at this price I could afford to get it wrong. I have to say that I m really impressed with the lens. It s very clear, it s easy to carry and the manual focus is easy, and quick to sort out. I have realised it s not powerful enough for some of the shots I want, ie. birds at sea, but it s great for anything within 100 yards or so. I m very pleased to have this to p...
#Complements the system perfectly (2009-04-23) I purchased this to complement the Sony Alpha kit I bought previously. I browsed the internet to find an equivalent lens but could not match the quality and price so I bought this one and I am not disappointed with the results. The fact it works exactly as advertised helps, however I do not have any other similar lenses to compare it with. My old 35mm film zoom lens on an OM10 compares favourably. . . at three times the price! The auto focus works well and quickly helping in the composition of shots. All in all well pleased.
#a great bargain (2009-03-14) The Sony 75-300mm is designed to complement the standard 18-70mm kit lens, greatly extending the range without any overlap. Indeed since the 5mm difference between them is negligible, the pair offer a huge range from 18-300mm, delivering a 35mm-equivalent field of 27-450mm. The telephoto range of the 75-300mm is ideal for portraits, wildlife and sporting events, along with bringing-in any kind of distant detail. Recommended. :-)

#Fantastic Second Lens (2009-07-01) Having bought my Nikon D40 with it s standard 18-55mm lens I was keen to see what else I could do but didn t have the money for an expensive lens. Thankfully I had a friend who gave me great advice and directed me to the 50mm f1. 8 as a cheaper lens that gives you a lot of artistic capability for not too much money compared to other lenses. I was concerned about the fixed focal length (which is quite amusing as a month before I didn t have a clue what that meant!) but have found it easy to adapt to moving about instead of zooming. I have already capt...
#Nice old type lens (2009-05-24) I say old type because I m old enough to remember when all cameras came with this, or a 1. 4, lens. I use a D40 and I have no problem focusing. If unsure I use the green light in the view finder to make certain. It really is, even for Nikon, sharp.
#Super sharp lens for a tiny price (2009-04-20) Put simply, this lens is fantastic. I have just got back from a trip to New York and decided to buy this lens for night shots, and pictures where I really wanted to control the depth of field, and at this, it excelled. It is super sharp, has excellent control over the depth of field, and is light and above all, cheap. I shoot on a D40 which cannot Auto Focus with this lens, but this was not a problem at all, and whilst you can now get an AF-S 35mm lens which the D40 can Auto Focus, it is £90 more expensive. I also found that as I took ...
#Brilliant little lens (2009-04-05) Don t be deceived by the low price of this extremely good lens. I bought to use for my Nikon D80 (giving me the equivalent of a 70 mm lens) and am extremely pleased with the results. The pictures produced have extremely good clarity and show tones very nicely, and I would say it produces a more pleasing image than my more modern long range Nikon zoom lenses. Took some very pleasing people shots in window light. Also with maximum aperture of F1. 8 this is great for low light.
#Nikon 50mm F1,8 AF Nikkor lens (2009-04-05) Fast portrait lens, small, light, fantastic resolution: excellent value for money. At F1. 8 the background is blurred ideal for artistic photographs. Hand held photos can be achieved at 1/30th : a practical alternative to VR lenses. Prime lenses not as versatile as a zoom lens but a useful supplement for a modest sum.
