No problems with using multiway plug adaptors, but I have not tried surge-protected ones. I get the impression it is faster than my old wireless 54 Mps network. The utility software installs fine, but is unnecessary in a single network home. Recommended.

#Fantastic! (2009-07-01) I m not usually someone that does reviews, but these fully deserve it. As per previous comments, these are great. I was fed up of losing the wifi signal on my pc and now it is fully stable and even running at 100mpbs meaning no more loss of wifi signal, iplayer and other video players run without the need for buffering. I will be buying at least another one of these - so I can move my server into the garage where it won t annoy anyone. I might even buy one for the wii (with a seperate adaptor of course) and one for the laptop should the wifi signal ever drop...

#wireless problem solved... (2009-06-28) I was having lots of problems with my wireless network having nearly 7 other wireless networks in close proximity to me all competing for the same airspace. A friend recomended i got these Homeplugs. I was a little sceptical at first but i shouldn t have been. video streaming on the PC now works without the really annoying stop/start. I can now enjoy lag free online gaming on my Xbox360. I need to buy more of these so i can expand my network it looks a doddle to add more homeplugs to my network. They ARE the best thing since sliced bread. So ...

#I wish I d got these 18 months ago (2009-06-27) After I d faffed around with my wireless adapter for the best part of 18 months, my IT guy recommended that I try these instead. They took about a minute to set up and gave me a perfect connection instantly. It seems impossible that something that makes such a difference should be so easy. This is an excellent product that I would recommend to anybody.

#Amazing Product but broke after 2 months (2009-06-21) Homeplugs are brilliant, so easy to fit and create a home network in seconds with more than enough speed for internet + moving files between pcs. Just plug 1 homefplug into your router via ethernet, then plug the second plug into your PC/laptop etc via ethernet and the data all runs through the electricity wires of your house. My only problems with these is that they both broke almost simultaneously after 2 months of use. I ordered replacements and everything has been fine since (almost 2 months in). Also they are a bit chunky ...

I get between 80-120Mbps running from one ring main to another in a large house (with the 2 adapters being at opposite ends of the house and on different floors). Plug it in and go. . . easy. Haven t worried about security. . . who else is going to have one of these and want to hack in??. . . even if they do, I would be able to see them with the supplied app :)As the LAN NICs on the plugs only run at 100Mbps max, then the 80-120Mbps speed that I am getting out of the plugs is perfectly usable. #Yes, it s a Cat 5 Coupler (2009-03-12) What can I say, it s a Cat 5 coupler, the plastic on both connectors holds the cable firmly, and it works. Nothing wrong with it than I can find. .

Personally I bought this so that I had a better way to detour my shared internet connection to my Xbox 360, whilst also avoiding the unneccesary complication of a router/hub etc. Ideal for adding length to a network cable, allowing you to simply attach two cables together. No drivers required - works out the box. Probably handy for anyone with a wired network to have a few of these lying around. Very useful.
