#Just the job (2009-07-04) You can t go wrong with this hard drive,it has plenty of room and iv e had it for about 2 months with no problems at all.
#ACE (2009-07-04) This is my first external hard disk, comapred to some friends it is not the fastest but it is brilliant, easy to set up, small, good looking, no anoying fan noises! 5 out of 5! thanks
#Great compatibility (2009-07-02) The format it uses is FAT32, which means that it s compatible with almost everything. I use it to store Play TV recordings, and i m very pleased with it. Word of warning though, if FAT32 has a limit. You can t copy files that are greater than 4GB in size, but you re looking at HD feature films to reach that size.

#a bit chick (2009-06-23) Good hard drive, easy to use, just plug and play. The down side is that it s NOT 1 terra because it eats 73 gb so in the end it s only 930gb, a big loss i think. They say it s a saving energy stuff beacuse it turns itself off if not used, ok, no problem with that but the ligh on the front never switch off, eventhough i got my computer off the light keeps flashing, pulsing. . very anooying.

#Excellent & Reliable Drive... (2009-05-28) This is number two, having used one editing video reliably for nearly a year with my firewire 800 connected iMac I highly recommend this as value for money!
#It works! (2009-05-26) Reading other reviews I was sceptical about buying this unit, but I was swayed by the good value and the hope that my experience would match the better reviews. After the usual efficient Amazon delivery - thank you - everything went well. At first. The 2nd time I used the drive the iMac wouldn t recognise it. After the usual panic and surfing through articles, plugging the unit into a MacBook worked. It was the firewire in the iMac which had to be re-set. Panic over. In the 4 weeks since it has worked well. It was easily partitioned, does Time Machine on...
#My Book Studio Edition - Mac User (2009-05-13) Did what it said on the tin. I can t fault this product and it works fine via every port with my MacBook Pro.

#Stable and simple, My Book 500GB (2009-06-18) Western Digital My Book Home Edition 500GB - USB 2. 0 / Firewire 400 & eSata Hard driveI decided to purchase this after using a similar drive at work with an Intel iMac: I hooked up via Firewire and it s been solid. Used at home with a G5 PowerMac (running OSX 10. 4. 11) for backups and video files, the setup using the supplied cable was simplicity itself and the external HD icon popped right up on the desktop so it s just a matter of drag and drop, no worries. I formatted the drive using Disk Utility before use, so I can create a hierarch...
#Fast, neat, reliable. (2009-06-15) I bought this product purely for the eSATA connectivity. Using a SATA to eSATA cable, I connected the WD Drive directly to my motherboard, with the cable poking through an empty PCI-slot gap. This drive is FAST. I can copy 8GB movie files to it in seconds. I have also tried USB and Firewire on my PC, and both work splendidly. You may encounter the following issues with the drive:-The eSATA port on the rear of the drive is deep. I had to cut some rubber away from around the eSATA plug on my cable. -When Windows hibernates/wakes, sometimes it loses...
#Mac Owners beware (2009-06-13) So many problems with this drive. Won t mount, then eventully it does. Then it won t unmount. Can t run Disk First Aid, Disk Warrior or Tech Tools on it. Can t update Firmware. Tried various different USB and Firewire cables, tried 2 different Macs and the same problems. looking at reviews, it seems I m not alone, either. I have 2 other WD Hard drives, and have never had a problem, but this has put me right off WD drives.
#WD 1GB external HD firewire/USB/eSATA (2009-05-25) It s a big fat HD. Does what it says on the tin. Hasn t broke yet. I ve tested with all the connections and am currently using firewire which gives about 40ish MB/s speeds which isn t much worse than I m getting from my laptop HD. USB is about half this. eSATA should be much better than both but for some reason I m only getting about 5 MB/s. For the time being though I m putting this down to the cable or the eSATA card until I get chance to buy another. I don t use this device for backup so can t help with that. Connections...
#eSATA not that impressive (2009-05-24) have used this product for over three months now. . . the reasons for not giving it five stars are : 1. It will take a lot of time almost 10 hours if you want to get a full NTFS format of the hard drive. 2. The eSATA cable which is bundled with this hard drive (obviously you pay seperate for the cable) does not fit in the port. Apart from that I have continuously used the product for the past three months and *touchwood* I have no complaints. I would recommend this product to anyone who s not interested in the eSATA feature.

#Truly Awful (2009-06-22) Monumentally awful experience with this hard drive. Got it to store all photos (from holidays, very recent wedding and honeymoon) and some documents. Arrived in good time, seemed to work ok, if a little tempremental when setting it up. Transferred documents over gradually, feeling a little nervous to do so but finally after a month or so plucked up the courage to have the hard drive as the only place to store all our wedding photos and honeymoon pictures (which were very recent) along with pics of 5 years of birthday s, weddings, family gatherings, et...
#Slow eSATA implementation (2007-10-11) My 750GB Freeagent Pro suffered from slow eSATA transfer rates (40MB/s average), so I called Seagate technical support. I found out:1) The enclosures eSATA controller is choked to give the same rate of transfer as USB2. This means, regardless of the connection type used, the maximum transfer rate is 44MB/s. 2) The 750GB hard disk inside is optimised for quietness and low heat generation. This has been achieved by slowing the disk down. Compared to its full performance desktop counterpart (model 7200. 10), maximum transfer rates are 15MB/s lo...

#Failed on the second day (2009-06-27) This drive looks good and sounds good on paper. I bought this from the Apple store. On the plus side it has really fast and easy installation for Macs - plug and play. Used as a back up drive for Time Machine on my iMac. All good till the second day when the drive simply does not mount on the iMac. I tried also on my PC - does not show there either. Tried all the different troubleshooting tips on IOmega website (not that many) but still no luck. Checked advise on the internet - the drive still does not want to mount, or to show in Disk U...
