#Exotic Xmas with Middle eastern tones (2008-12-02) A very distinct xmas album imbued with an exotic touch by Loreena. She has a way with middle eastern intonations that makes this album possibly played year long for some titles. Another non typical Christmas album this year from Enya, if you like the style And Winter Came. A more European traditional album is Sarah s new album A Winter Symphony, very well done. If you want to discover some music for the rest of the year, I would also suggest the Canadian singer Marcomé River Of Soul with a great atmospheric music and very lovely v...

#A MASTERPIECE!! (2008-11-18) THUMBING THROUGH THE ROLLING STONE THAT WAS IN MY MAILBOX YESTERDAY, I CAME ACROSS THE ISSUE S MAJOR ARTICLE REGARDING THE GREATEST VOICES IN MUSIC. I DID NOT SEE BURTON CUMMINGS S NAME THERE. EVEN A HACKNEYED PUBLICATION PAST ITS PRIME MUST HAVE SOMEONE THERE WITH EARS. OH, WELL. TO THIS DISC RELEASE, SUFFICE TO SAY THAT THE MAN S VOICE IS BETTER THAN EVER, THE WORDS ARE EXRESSIVE AND CONTEMPLATIVE, AND THE MELODIES PURE AND MOVING. I MUST BUY MORE COPIES AS CHRISTMAS GIFTS AS I DON T SEE A U. S. RELEASE FOR THIS GEM OF MODERN MUSIC. THANKS, BUR...
#Excellent, Amazing, I love that Burton s back! (2008-11-17) I ve been waiting for BC to have a new CD, and this one is fantastic. I ve always been a fan, but every cut on this album is amazing. I think the DVD is great, too, to see the recording process and to get inside the production of each song. This is a must-have for any Burton Cummings fans, Guess Who fans, or those who just like great music. The songs have so much meaning, it s at the top of my collection.
#BC is back! (2008-11-17) I ve been one of the faithful followers of Burton Cummings and his music since his Guess Who days. . . even saw them at age 15 when they played in Boston in between their So Long Bannatyne and Rockin albums. So when the band reunited in 2000 it was a no-brainer to make the trip to Montreal to catch their show. You can imagine how I was looking forward to another studio album after Jukebox (with Randy Bachman). . . this might well be the best solo recording Burton s ever released. The voice is right on the money, the music is contemporary without being trend...
#Well worth the wait - Another Classic Burton Cummings album! (2008-11-13) Wow what an album! You wonder why it took Burton Cummings so long release such a great album after so long but you really shouldn t be surprised how good it is. After all this IS Burton Cummings - the greatest Canadian artist of all time. This album is incredible and right up there with the 70 s and early 80 s releases we know so well. Above The Ground is a far better album that 1990 s Plus Signs and 1984 s Heart . We really haven t seen a new release as good as this since Sweet Sweet . No filler on th...
#Classic Vocals and Writing from Classic Rocker (2008-11-01) The Burton Cummings led Guess Who are staples of classic rock radio with great songs like the rock anthem American Woman and the endearing ballad These Eyes. While many classic rockers are happy to sit in their easy chairs and collect royalties, Burton Cummings has embarked on an ambitious project of all new music with all the songs written by Cummings himself. It has always been known that Cummings possesses one of the finest voices in rock and roll, but Above the Ground also proves that he is one of rocks greatest songwr...

#Enjoyable for parents and children! (2008-07-10) This disc is an entertaining romp with the Barenaked Ladies. My 11 month old listens quite intently and especially likes 789. My husband and I also find ourselves singing along. I would like to commend the group for their quality lyrics, music and Canadian Pride!
#Great tunes, witty and in different genres (2008-07-05) My six year old son loves this CD. He was very skeptical at first but it s the only CD we ve been playing in the car for the past two weeks. The lyrics are witty (some jokes and play on words may be too sophisticated for the very young) and the tunes are catchy. You ll find yourself singing along to The Ninjas or to 7, 8, 9 before long!
#Ladies re-visit their inner child (2008-06-13) I can t listen to this record without getting a huge smile on my face, the songs are very catchy and clever, and you can just bet that BNL had a great time when they were making it. My favourites are, well darnit, I can t pick just one or two songs, they all leave me smiling. I suppose that I would have to say that the wonderful Gordon Lightfoot pastiche called The Canadian Snacktime Trilogy tickles me the most. I am looking forward to giving this cd/book to my three nieces.
# Ladies having fun (2008-06-12) This is a fun album, that even my husband and I enjoy. It s probably better for slightly older kids (4+) than the usual Raffi crowd, but my preschooler thinks that 789 is hilarious and my toddler bounces to the Polliwog song. It takes a couple of listens to really enjoy, but now it s the primary choice in our house. Dare I say that even people without kids will enjoy the Ladies having fun on this album?!
#Oh those Canadians! (2008-05-20) Raisins come from grapes People come from apes I come from Canada (lyrics from Raisins) This Canadian alt-rock band scores big with my family with this album of 24 original and hilarious songs for kids. For a taste of the album make sure you watch the video on the Amazon product page for the first track 7,8,9, based on the old pun about a very hungry number seven. Whether they re singing about ninjas or pollywogs, allergies or the alphabet, BNL never fail to bring a smile to your face with the clever lyrics and catchy tunes. The ones we really like ...
