First launched in 1983, Annapolis remains the sailor s bible, a comprehensive chapter and verse guide to all aspects of seamanship from the simplest ABC s to the most advanced skills and latest electronics. And while much of the original edition has been left in dry dock to make way for the many changes on the water since 1983--like multihull vessels, satellite tracking, and the reality that while all ships remain she, there is no longer the assumption that it s a he at the helm--Rousmaniere still emphasizes what he s stressed from the first tack: the importance of mastering sailing s fundamentals. This means knowing every inch of your boat and how to handle her, understanding the importance of safety on the seas and preparing for all emergencies, reading the weather, learning to navigate, knowing essential boat maintenance, and being aware of the traditions every sailor steps into whenever he or she sticks feet in a pair of topsiders. Clearly organized and presented, cleanly and smoot...

#A ",Must Have", for all Sailors (2003-11-10) When I started sailing my 27 foot sloop, I knew very little about sailing. I bought this book and used it to teach myself to sail. Now years later I still refer to it from time to time. I definitely think this is one of several books that all sailors should have on their bookshelves. I keep The Annapolis Book of Seamanship handy on my boat at all times.
#Annapolis of Sailing (2002-07-03) I just finished a ton of sailing classes, starting w/the Laser & moving on to bigger and better, but NOT WITHOUT the help of this book!!YOU wanna SAIL?FOR REAL?BUY IT!READ IT!LEARN IT!LIVE IT!You can t lose. . . or drowned!
#If You Are A Sailor, You NEED This Book! (2002-06-03) As a sailor on every type of floating scrap of wood, fiberglass, steel and aluminum you can think of, I have sailed thousands and thousands of miles. I continually turn to this book as a source of reference and it is never out of close contact. Even now, as I have no boat but race quite often, I pick up the book because I have questions or ideas about something. It is a wonderful source and the most complete reference I have ever seen. This book would be especially useful to beginning sailors, but NOTHING can teach you like gett...
#Every sailorýs essential guide (2001-10-21) There are few books as excellent in explaining both basic sailing skills and advanced procedures as the Annapolis Book of Seamanship. From boat handling, equipment, and terminology to weather and emergencies, this book covers all the fundamentals of sailing in clear, easy to grasp terms. Novices will find value in that the book assumes no prior knowledge of sailing, while old salts will appreciate the book s encyclopedia-like thoroughness. If you only have one book in your sailing library, I recommend this be the one.
#Wonderful all around sailing seamanship book (2001-04-20) This updated (1999) version of The Annapolis Book of Seamanship is a wonderful volume for both the new and more experienced sailor. With clear, lucid text and wonderful illustrations, Mr. Rousmaniere and Mr. Smith have created a truly useful guide. In particular, I found the section dealing with the ",physics", of the boat to be very enlightening. I also was pleased with the strong emphasis on safety throughout the book. All around, one of the best books available on the topic, and highly recommended.

#Excellent coverage of fiberglass repairs (2001-10-04) Covers all the areas I needed. Soft & rotten cores, broken fiberglass, chipping, etc. I liked it so much I just ordered his book on refinishing.
#Sailboat Hull and Deck Repair (2001-09-06) Good book with understandable illustrations and practical suggestions.
#Lots of details in a small package (2000-08-22) This is an excellent book for someone who knows nothing about fiberglass boat repair. It starts off with a brief discussion of the three major sealant types (polysulfide, polyurethane and silicone) and when to use each. Other sections cover the different types of resin, epoxy choices, etc. etc. Excellent information when trying to decide which of the gazillion products to purchase in the boating catalogs. Major sections include Leaks (finding and fixing, installing deck hardware), Restoring the Gloss (polishing and scratch rep...
#Good buy! (1998-12-31) A very well illustrated and easy book which gave me a good understanding how to maintain and repair a fibreglass boat.
#what a relief (1998-06-10) With surprising (for a how-to book) and welcomed literateness, Don Casey instructs the cowering novice (me) in the black arts of fiberglass repair. Though I haven t yet proved his lessons in practice, I already feel more confident and competent. And isn t that what how-to books are all about?

#Engrossing (2000-06-29) An exhaustive book on one of great ",mystery", of jet fighter history. The aircraft program is fully narrated from the enthusiastic ",go ahead", to the painfull termination. Direct testimonies of executives, engineers and test pilots make the plot really vivid showing the feelings behind this endeavour:the epilog still looks like the end of a dream. Illustrations, pictures, factory drawings are truly intriguing, since few were previously available. Particularly impressive is the ",log",,where significant figures are released on aircraft...

#Awesome! The canoe builders bible! (2004-06-16) I just finished a Rob Roy canoe following the plans and instructions in this book. If I can build a canoe following this books well written instructions and excellent photographs, anyone can. Truly the canoe builder s bible.
#Canoecraft: An Illustrated Guide to Fine Woodstrip Construct (2004-05-05) Whether your goal is to build a general-purpose recreational canoe, an efficient modern tripping canoe or a full-decked fast-cruising canoe with walnut veneer, this guide can help you make it happen.
#Excellent book, likely the best. (2004-01-30) This book makes the blue-covered book look like a throw-away. I have not read ",Strippers Guide", but after reading the comments contained under that book title, I have to believe this one is better. If you can t build a canoe with this book, you can t build one.
#This is a must have (2003-05-15) I have read other books on canoe building and this one was for me the best. It has good advice on which style of wood strip canoe to build for your purpose, looks at plans, materials and tools and then goes through the process of building a 16 foot Redbird. It had enough detail (marginally fuzzy b&w photos but excellent line drawings) to guide me, a complete beginner, through the whole process and I recommend it. Other books have great tips and overviews of the techniques, and are useful for additional information, but this was the one that, by leadi...
#Rock solid guide to get you floating in a heirloom... (2003-01-26) Without any previous wood working experience, this book guided me through the hundreds of little steps required to build a canoe of excellent qualities. Ted Moores really thought of everything, and if I (12. 000 miles south of Ontario) could do it, so can you. On the down side, the books omits any reference to the extremely useful bulletin board at Ted Moores own website. Also, his method is so smooth and free of doubts, that it helps to purchase some other book with a different outlook, just to relax a little....

#Excellent. Well illustrated. Very Useful. (1999-03-13) I had an old canvas canoe I used for duck hunting that was in desperate need of repair. My hunting buddy and I decided to tackle the job of replacing broken ribs, rotten planking and re-canvasing the old girl. We literally had no idea of what we were getting into, and without the help of this book we would still be lost. It provided us with some great ideas and great step by step instructions.
