Prescription for Nutritional Healing by nutritionist Phyllis A. Balch and James F. Balch, M.D., has long been considered one of the most trusted, comprehensive sources on the mind-boggling array of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and other dietary supplements now available. Working from the premise that a good diet promotes good health, this third edition of PNH still starts with the basics: consume fresh produce, grains, and lean meats, avoid foods that are processed or high in saturated fat, cook using glass, stainless steel, or iron--never aluminum, and drink filtered water. The authors also stand by their claim that the government-prescribed recommended daily allowances are ridiculously low, and that the book s optimal daily intake for nutrients should be followed instead. So what s new in the third edition? Along with now-accepted remedies, like zinc and echinacea for the common cold, the Balches also explore many of the newer supplements to hit the market: SAMe (recommended for depre...

#Comprehensive (2008-11-07) With over five million copies sold, this book is one of the most read texts on nutritional health. I say text because it measures in at a good inch and three-quarters thick. Written by a certified nutritionist and a bona-fide MD, it is neatly divided up into three parts. Part I, a quarter-inch thick discusses the basic principles of health and nutrition. This section lists and explains the various kinds of nutrients and food supplements. Part II, by far the biggest section of the book measuring in at an inch and a quarter, provides the reader with an A-Z...
#Best Home Remedy Book (2007-04-14) This book will help you prevent and heal most ailments and illnesses using herbs, minerals and home remedies that work versus drugs. You will also learn a lot about your body from this book as it is written in an easy to understand format. It will help you understand the root of medical problems versus doctors just perscribing drugs to mask a problem versus finding out what could be the cause of problem and how to overcome them in a safe and natural way.
#Change your nutritional habits (2007-01-10) This book is a good starting point for living an organic, non-toxic lifestyle. It can be the start of a healthy journey for the rest of your life. You ll get advice on designing and living a life that minimizes the onset of some illnesses that seemingly require only pharmaceuticals. Even if you already have an illness, some simple lifestyle changes may be all it takes to reverse the condition, that s how powerful healthy habits are. Prevention and healthy maintenance is the cure of all cures. Another great book that I highly recommend is...
#Excellent reference. (2004-07-03) At times I say to myself, if it isn t in this book, it just isn t. You will refer to it A LOT!!!
#The only book you ll really need (2004-05-21) If you buy only one reference book this should be it. Practical information on vitamins and minerals, recommended dosage, and deficiencies. As well as valuable information on nutrition and the role it plays in our overall well-being. I just recently purchased the third edition, and my 75 year old Mom was happy to take my tattered second edition off my hands. It s a must have reference item for everyone on your gift list.

#Not that great (2007-12-11) Lots of unrealistic advice and a hippy approach to pain management and child birth. Giving birth naturally is great but, women please, don t get frustrated if you would not be able to. Medical pain relief is possible and it could make your experience a satisfying one rather than mind crushing. Use this book with caution.
#Valuable in preparing for birth (2007-07-10) Valuable information on pain management skills, what s going on during pain and why. I also bookmarked various chapters and sections that were specifically geared towards husbands/partners which my husband will read. Takes the guesswork out of labor and birth. I only gave it four stars as I personally did not benefit from the sections about birth art. However, they might be helpful for those readers unable to verbalize or talk about expectations or fears related to birth.
#Fabulous and Very Informative (2006-03-02) I have read several pregnancy books from the popular ",What to Expect When Expecting", to the fluffy ",Girlfriend s Guide. ", This has been the best book to prepare me emotionally and intellectually for the process of labour, delivery and becoming a mother. It has helped me to start many conversations with friends who have children, my own mother, grandmother and my husband to discuss the birthing process in a meaningful way. The book s layout is extremely easy to read, and the author gives a lot of stories and quite a bit ...
#My rite of passage (2005-09-02) This book not only made me feel as though childbirth wasn t a medical condition which was a phrase I grew up with, being the daughter of a small town medical practitioner, it convinced me that no matter where I gave birth. . . in a hospital, at home, or in a rice field. . this was MY experience. Yes it was hard, but it was mine! A lot of the birth art didn t really do it for me and actually howling like a wolf (though I don t remember mention of this in the book) worked a charm. After generations of epidurals, sintocin and emergency c-sections, w...
#Wonderful help (2005-04-11) This book was a wonderful help to prepare for childbirth, but not on its own. I still think you should also take childbirthing claases with a teacher, that is educated by Pam England. We were woderful prepared for the unexpected. . . Good Luck

#Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine (2008-05-16) Like a lot of people, I am gradually coming to the realization that what I put into my body affects the way my mind and body are able to function. Not all food is created equal and counting calories or carbs does very little good if I m not giving my body the nutrition it needs. Slowly, I am learning that my body, mind, and spirit prefer whole foods to fast food and empty calories. Rainbow Green Live- Food Cuisine introduces the concept of live-food. This plan is strictly vegan and promotes the usage of fresh raw foods whenever possible...
#Awe inspiring! (2006-01-11) I bought this book thinking that I might get some solid nutritional advice of the you should eat more fiber and discontinue junk food variety. What I got was something that held me spellbound from the start. I cannot believe that I did not know most of the facts contained in this book but now that I do I believe it would be difficult to go back to the way I used to eat. This is the type of thinking that could change your life!
#Is it really raw? (2005-02-03) I ve been eating raw for over a month now, only using this book and still haven t managed to eat all the recipes. I find my-self asking constantly: Is this REALLY a raw food dish? You d never believe you were eating living cuisine. Most praise this book for it s simlicity. I personally don t find it exactly simple but then again I have never used any other raw uncook book before. I m dissapointed to some degree though and sometimes feel chained to my kitchen. At times like that I simple look for a quick recipe and just throw something together and gu...
#These are the best recipes (2004-04-05) I normally don t write reviews at all, but this book certainly deserves one. The highlights:* It doesn t consists of all these sweet recipes but has great tasting alternatives (I could never get into all that sweet stuff), there are no dates, bananas, etc. , and there are some good explanations as to why* The recipes don t require a lot of strange ingredients of which I never even heard before, ingredients are easily found* You don t have to plan days ahead of time to just produce one dish, a lot of it can be put together quickly* It does have i...
#The Quintessesntial Raw Book - You Must Have It!!! (2003-12-27) My husband and I are transitioning to raw foods. We have ordered several books, only to find the unlimate source for raw food receipes in this book. Unbelievably tasty and ranging from easy to prepare to somewhat complicated, this book is our new cookbook staple in the kitchen. Not only does Dr. Cousens explain his reasoning carefully and in depth, but he goes on to suggest ways besides food to create the best life you can have. He isn t just promoting his own work, either, but incorporates the latest work of Dr. ...

Hands of Light: A Guide to Healing Through the Human Energy Field, by Barbara Ann Brennan, is a scientist s look at the field of bioenergetic healing--offering specific techniques towards expanding perceptual tools of healing, seeing auras, understanding psychodynamics and the human energy field, and spiritual healing. Trained as a physicist and psychotherapist, Brennan has spent the last 15 years studying the human energy field and working as a healer. Hands of Light goes beyond conventional, objective knowledge while retaining scientific clarity. It details a study of the human energy field and how it is intimately connected to a person s health and well-being and contains essential information for anyone involved in healing and conscious health care, including people seeking to heal themselves. Science and spirituality may currently be at odds, but fortunately there will always be scientists who are spiritual seekers, and it is in the mingling of the two worlds that wisdom is born. ...

#Awesome :) (2006-05-23) This book is very deep :) It is awesome for people who are trying to learn all they can in the energy fields :) But it is by no means an easy to read one :) She is a scientist and writes like one :)Branravensong@hotmail. com
#A Comprehensive Guide to Healing (2004-12-14) This book should be read by everyone, and especially those interested in the integrative hands-on healing modality and how it can fit into the conventional world. When reading this book, those knowledgeable about these subjects will find a common thread by other authors/books and a better understanding and substantiation will result. Other authors/books for those on the spiritual healing path are:- ",Power Healing", by John Wimber, ", ",The Power of Divine: A Healer s Guide -Tapping into the Miracle", - by Tiffany Snow...
#What should be on a healerýs bookshelf (2004-05-09) If you are a healer or want to be healed, these books should help. You may also want to put two of these books in your doctor s hands: The Power of Divine: A Healer s Guide, and Hands of Light. I read many books on various forms of healing, and alternative medicine, and I have found wonderful insights and practical how-to in each of these books. The Healing Touch: A Guide to Healing Prayer for Yourself and Those You Love--- Norma Dearing, Francis MacNuttThe Power of Divine: A Healer s Guide - Tapping into the Miracle---Tiffany Snow...
#Hands of Light (2004-01-12) Fantasitc book, and essential and foundational text for the energy healer. Excellent practical exercises and reviewing process allows you to see your own progress as you work through it. Don t expect to get through it in a weekend, there s so much homework that you will be properly prepared to begin work in this field. Good to work with along side attending a regular development circle if available in your area.
#Hands of Light (2003-06-24) This book is wonderful book to learn about energy medicine. The trick is not to be overwhelmed if you are new to energywork. It is a ABCprimer for those who yearn to learn, but youneed to understand it takes time. It also helps to have like-minded people to share this book with.
