#Good Recipes, Too Much Gardening (2008-10-29) I loved Oliver s previous book, Cook With Jamie, and so I rushed to buy this one, expecting more of the same. I was disappointed, though, to find that much of the book is devoted to lessons in gardening and pages of (admittedly, beautiful) vegetables in and out of the garden. I have gardened for years, and none of the gardening information is new or useful to me, and I resent having paid for it. I guess I should have previewed the book, but in my enthusiasm I felt I knew what I would be getting. That said, the recipes are arranged a...
#Jamie s most useful book (2008-03-07) Obviously, this is the book tie-in with the Jamie at Home series seen in the UK on Channel 4 and on the Food Network in North America. And for a tie-in, it s actually pretty good. It s certainly a much better read than his previous Cook with Jamie, mainly because with this one he s made a better attempt at identifying his audience. Jamie, it s obvious, is enthusiastic about his cooking, and he expects his readers to have the same enthusiasm (and therefore the same knowledge) that he does. This is something that was missing from his previous ...

#Beans in Cookies (2008-10-04) After trying out some of the recipes, it wouldn t now occur to my kids that one could make cookies without beans :-) So, some of the book s ideas are very creative. The ideas in this book, both for always having pureed veggies on hand, and for the sheer creativity of some of the recipes, are quite inspiring. Having said that, however, not all the ingredients are listed in the quantities that best go with the recipes, e. g. the chocolate cookie dough is too thick (and, incidentally, works better with red kidney rather than garbanzo beans, and with milk r...
#Not good at all (2008-02-14) This book was very disappointing. I LOVE to cook, and found the recipes were very labour intensive (all that puree-ing, even for someone who loves to be in the kitchen. . . give me a break!). The foods I prepared were ixnayed by my kids, and my husband who eats almost anything wasn t so impressed either. I wish I could return it, but I ve thrown out my receipt. Anyway, what I ve learned from this is that yes, we all want our families to eat healthier foods. How do we accomplish this? Set the example by eating it ourselves, keep serving it to ...
#Useless and damaging (2008-02-10) Happily I didn t buy this book, but borrowed it from a friend who had received it as a gift (who wouldn t have bought it, either). Seinfeld s method of dealing with children s nutrition is about as deceitful as one can get, and will cause more harm than good. This book is the last thing you want if you plan on building trust between you and your child and believe in fostering their sense of adventure. Another book written by someone who thinks that their name makes them important, rather than actual expertise.
#Read the reviews carefully before purchase... (2008-02-07) I m don t understand why there are reviewers giving this 3 stars (or more) when they haven t tried the recipes or, worse, they have tried the recipes and they have failed. I hope that potential buyers will read all the reviews carefully before making their decision as to whether to purchase this book. My review is as follows: The concept is wonderful, the book is beautiful and the pictures are gorgeous, but this is a COOKBOOK and the recipes are disasterous. Let s face it. . . a Mercedes Benz is gorgeous too but if it d...
#Deliciously Marketed (2008-01-23) Granted my initial introduction of this book was from the only time I watched Oprah in 2007 and seeing Jessica Seinfeld whipping up a few recipes with the Queen of Media dipping in and appearing to be overjoyed with the nearly gourmet outcome. The next thing I knew, my good friend was showing the same cookbook to me in her kitchen and said that it was selling out at our local bookstore. My mom eventually gets it for me for Christmas - a bunch of her friends got their daughters Deceptively Delicious (but really for their grandchildren). My copy ...

#The Bible (2008-09-21) I LOVE this cookbook!! I use it almost everyday. It is so easy to use and she has easy tips for almost every recipe. I also like the nutrition information. Out of my hundreds of cookbooks this is my #1!!
#Simple, easy and new (2008-04-23) I was not impressed with Tosca Reno s diet book as it did not tell me anything I didn t know, clean eating is something we ve always tried to practice, although our common sense practices didn t have a fancy name. That said, this cookbook is great. I have a vast collection of cookbooks and still found new and simple ideas for good, wholesome meals. I just read thru the entire book and marked page after page to plan into my meals. Why not five stars, then? There are some misleading recipes. . . Thick yogurt mixed with melted chocolate does not make...
#The plan is simple (2007-12-29) I am so glad there s now a cookbook for anyone who wants to eat clean. After I read Tosca Reno s first book I felt like clean-eating made so much sense, but I was a little panicked, thinking, Ok, but what CAN I eat??. I ve tried lots of recipes in this book, and they have all been good and the plan is simple:Eat 5-6 small meals daily, every 2-3 hours. Combine lean protein and complex carbs in each meal. Drink a minimum of 2 liters/8cups of water daily. Don t skip meals, especially breakfast. Carry a cooler loaded with Clean-Eating foods for the day. Av...
#Love it (2007-12-18) I have been eating nothing else since I bought this book - recipes are simple and delicious. Highly recommended!!!

#A Dangerous Book, Especially If You Have Heart Disease (2008-01-24) A half a dozen years ago a friend of mine underwent bypass surgery when he was in his mid-sixties. Shortly after that he stumbled on to the Weston A. Price Foundation, where he met Mary & Sally. They told him what he wanted to hear. His heart disease was all the fault of processed foods. High-fat animal foods are heart healthy! Cholesterol is a nutrient! Not too long after that he took up running, and I first met him at a pub run. I had also become quite interested in nutrition, especially after reading John Ro...
#A great addition to any household (2007-03-06) This book has -a lot- of information to digest about the foods we eat today and the things we should and shouldn t have in our diets. Some of the information startling (especially if this is your first venture into the area of proper nutrition), some of it is just plain common-sense. Although dry at times, the book is a really good read and I highly recommend it. I had a lot of health problems growing up and I am still struggling with a few, but after making some changes in my diet on my own and further changes based on the recommend...
#Outstanding! A must read for healthy living! (2006-10-22) This is not just a cookbook! Equally or even more important is the first section of the book which contains invaluable chapters on fats (importance of butter and coconut oil as well as polyunsaturates), grains (their proper preparation!!!), proteins (raw meats and fish as well), vitamins, minerals (excellent documentation on how we absorb minerals and explains mineral salts, chelates, colloids etc. ), special diets, etc. This is well researched and quotes and explains the faults in studies used by the establishment and diet d...
#Open up, try it and you will not regret it (2006-07-22) This is one great book that anybody interested in health and nutrition should own. Although the book centers around the benefits of animal food in our diet (like butter, chicken &beef stocks, organ meat etc), I actually believe it is an especially useful book for vegetarians. After reading this book, they might still deny that animal food has been a natural part of human s diet throughout the whole history and they might still go on to believe that animal food is bad for health. However, if they just pick out from this book the m...
#My favorite cookbook (and I have many) (2005-02-15) I absolutely love this book. I have to be careful not to spend too much time reading it, there s so much information on every page. Most of the recipes I ve tried have turned out very well as long as I follow them well. My kids love the baking I do with it. Also, I have switched to raw milk, as my children are big milk addicts. Their health has improved because of it, and they never fail to get sick when the raw milk is unavailable. If you get your milk from a reputable source, there is no need to worry about contamin...

#A well of recipes for busy cooks (2008-03-20) I own a few of low-carb books and probably as many slow cooker books. This one is not only my favourite, it s also the most USED. I have tried pretty much all chilli recipes, a few stews, pork chops, chicken and meat loaf ones. They are all great. Takes me 10 min or less to throw together ingredients in the morning, and the dinner is ready. My husband is surprised each time - Honey, when did you make dinner? I say, this morning, while I was waiting for my toast. Most meals are great for having people over as well. Perfect portions fo...
#Trust me, you won t regret purchasing this cookbook (2007-12-26) The Everyday low-Carb Cookbook has great recipes with easy to follow directions and every recipe has nutritional facts so you can stay within your net carb limit. I have been following a low-carb diet for over a year and am always looking for new low-carb idea s. This Low-Carb Slow Cooker Cookbook is outstanding. Portion sizes are more than generous. So far, the butter roasted almonds and the rosemary garlic chicken are my favorites, but there are a whole host of delicious receipts! Slow Cooking your low carb meals ta...
#Can t get enough! (2004-11-11) I have done the low-carb thing off and on over the past 5 years, but started up again about 6 months ago. I was eating a lot more fresh vegetables and meat, but was getting tired of all the cooking. Then I came accross something about slow cookers and how they re the next best thing for low-carbers. I did some research, and decided to buy one. I also bought this cookbook along with it, based on the reviews here. I work long hours and have a daughter under 2. My husband is just as busy, and neithe us us want to cook when we get home. First of...
#Easy, delicious, quick -- this book has it all! (2004-07-01) So you re on a low carb diet, looking good and feeling great, but your family is definitely on a high carb diet and getting tired of the plain meat dishes you ve been serving up lately. Or maybe you are the one who s tired of them. You would like to be able to expand your low carb recipe list, but you don t have a lot of time to spend on the fancy schmancy rigamarole that some low carb cookbooks require. If only you could have your fine palate and your waistline both satisfied. . . Say no more my meat-eatin bretheren! ...
#This book does not miss! (2004-06-12) I recently got a slow cooker and ordered this cookbook. This cookbook really is phenomenal. The recipes are simple with easy to find ingredients. I have tried their suggested pairings several times, as well, and they are dead on target. My husband has raved over every dish that I have made from this book, including a couple that are not slow cooker items. I highly recommend it.
