#This Book Is All You Really Need! (2006-09-22) This book is the best thing since sliced bread! After searching high and low for a decent book on gluten free bread, I stumbled across this book and haven t looked back since. There are so many great receipes that are extremely easy to follow. You can t go wrong even if you are just a beginner. It also has receipes for egg free, lactose free, yeast free and many other allergy free variations. This book is really all you need. The bread is a thousand times better than any gluten free bread that you can buy in the stores. Maybe the man...
#GFG Bakes Bread is Great! (2003-08-05) My children and I were diagnosed with food allergies 1 1/2 yrs ago. I tried quite a few food allergy cookbooks. The results ranged from tolerable to absolutely gross. I wasn t sure if there were any decent recipes out there for wheat, dairy and egg allergies. There are. Ms. Hagnman is absolutely wonderful. Her recipes make our food life much more enjoyable. We especially enjoy her hamburger bun recipe. Anyone out there looking for easy and delicious allergy recipes, this is the place.
#too time-consuming! (2003-02-23) I checked out a copy of the book from the library before buying it. After making 3 of the recipes, including some that she says are her regular breads, I found them too time-consuming for the outcome. Roben Ryberg s breads are much simpler for the small difference in taste. If you have the time, though, go for it!
#Thank God for Betty!! (2003-01-17) If you are diagnosed with Celiac Disease Betty Hageman s books are a MUST BUY!! She is a plethora of information and great recipes!! The best part is she speaks from experience.
#Great Glutten-free book for dummies (2002-09-02) If you have a wheat intolerance this is the book to get. And if you have never made bread, this is the book to get. It explains every step with straight forward instructions. . . . Happy baking!

#This cookbook dominated our book discussion group. (2004-04-17) Our book discussion group recently met at the home of a member who can t often attend our meetings because of her demanding work schedule. We entered her home to be welcomed by the delicious aroma of PORK STEW WITH TOMATILLOS, prepared from The Gourmet Slow Cooker cookbook. After an outstanding meal, we shelved our scheduled discussion book and spent the evening looking through and discussing this wonderful cookbook and how it has simplified and enhanced dinnertime for a working woman and her family. This is NOT y...
#Finally, a Slow Cooker Book That Works! (2004-03-21) I ve tried three recipes so far from this collection, each one more complex than the last, as I gain my trust in this author. The Baked Eggplant was ridiculously easy (just cut the eggplants into cubes and cook on low for 4-6 hours, then add the seasonings after the cooking is done. ) Next I tried the Tuscan White Bean Soup, which was excellent and not at all watery, like most crock-pot soups. Finally, I made a pot of Mexican Chicken in Peanut and Ancho Chili Sauce, and I can finally say that I ve found a crock pot book that rea...

Affable Essex boy Jamie Oliver continues the British culinary invasion with The Naked Chef Takes Off, the smashing follow-up to his bestselling The Naked Chef. For Oliver, the young Food Network import, food is all about passing the potatoes around the table, ripping up some bread, licking my fingers, getting tipsy, and enjoying the company of good friends and family, and cooking up what real people at home really want. The thing is, real people picking up cookbooks are often seeking easy-to-follow recipes. But that s not Oliver s bag. The layout of many of his recipes may frustrate traditional-cookbook readers--instructions often appear as one big chunk of conversational text with nary an ingredient or measurement in clear view--but that s part of the charm of Oliver s cookbooks. His commentary, tips, and cooking steps come across in a very approachable, colloquial style and leave plenty of room for individual flair or improvisation. Oliver s enthusiasm for cooking is infectious, the ...

#Number 1 (2004-01-07) This guy will convince you that you can do any recipe you want, He inspires you to cook. I ve never done one of his recipes with the same ingrediants twice and rarely fully follow his own seasonings but he gives a great base to start with and experiment. Alot of other chef s dont like him but what can you say when the people who eat his recipes love it. all five books are worth buying
#Superlative Chef and Fantastic Food (2003-09-13) I watched Oliver s very first TV program in England and admit that I was going to be very critical (I was working as a Chef at the time with my own restaurant). When the half hour show ended I was enchanted with the young man and his approach to food and life. I never missed another show all the time I remained living and working in England. I have all three of his books and they are all great. He is so enthuiasitc about food that you can t help but be caught up in the joy of cooking and sharing your efforts. Since his success ...
#Awesome (2003-03-20) I ve never written a review for any book before, but I had to for this one. I ve had the best food of my life from the recipes in this book. For example, I bought this book about 3 months ago, I eat pasta daily (literally) and for the past 3 months *every day* I ve used Jamie s sauce on my pasta. Before that I used about 30 different store-bought flavors. The amazing part is how simple *and healthy* it is: Plum tomatoes, olives, olive oil, salt, and pepper - that s *it*. Cooked properly, it s perfect. I also made a shrimp dish that was awesome. Forgot what i...
#Yum! (2003-02-06) Wonderful every-day ingredients elevated to new heights. Who knew simple foods could be, well, so simple! And so delicious! Even a vegetarian (like myself) can use most of the recipes, by either omitting meat all together or substituting it with soy-based products. I have to give Jamie major props for promoting organic foods!Besides this being an excellent cookbook, it s an excellent read. The writing style is sharp, witty, conversational and warm. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
#Book for all cooks (2003-01-04) I ve been a big fan of the FoodTV since I got cable and I ve always been extremely impressed with Oliver s approach to raw cooking. He s innovative methods of using fresh ingredients make the his dishes just a little different than others. I found myself anxiously flipping through the pages when I first got it as a present. The colorful pages and the exotic but simple ingredients in his receipes made me drool. The boldness of his cooking as well as his creativity are very displayed. I was a little sad about not having outdoor markets such as on...

#Must Have? Perhaps not. An interesting read, though. (2006-11-29) This is a great book for reading. I have tried many of the recipes with excellent success. It would be a good introductory book for the beginner cook. It could be more challenging but at the same time I find myself referring to it quite regularly. I, too, dislike the faint yellow font. However, the information contained in the book more than makes up for it in my opinion.
#not for everyday use (2006-06-19) though i have found some good recipes heremost of them are difficult aqnd contain hard to find ingredientsand i hate the fact that it has NO picturesbuy something more specific!
#Excellent general cookbook (2004-12-18) I love the cookbook and all of the recipes I have tried so far have been delicious with down-to-earth directions. Nothing is over-explained but everything is made clear. It is very readable with a nice chatty style describing the origins of some of the recipes and good hints and suggestions. The recipes chosen are the best from many years of Gourmet Magazine. I agree with many of the choices because I clipped them out for my collection when the magazine first published them! I will now be able to enjoy my favourites bound into a nice boo...
