The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Standard Edition In December 2007, J.K. Rowling unveiled The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a very special book of five fairy tales illustrated by the bard herself, embellished with silver ornaments and mounted moonstones. Amazon was fortunate to come into possession of one of the original copies, and it was our privilege to share images and reviews of this incredible artifact. Now J.K. Rowling is giving millions of Harry Potter fans worldwide cause for celebration with a new edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, available December 4, 2008. Offering the trademark wit and imagination familiar to Rowling s legions of readers--as well as Aesop s wisdom and the occasional darkness of the Brothers Grimm--each of these five tales reveals a lesson befitting children and parents alike: the strength gained with a trusted friendship, the redemptive power of love, and the true magic that exists in the hearts of all of us. Rowling s new introduction also comments on...

#A must read no matter how old you are!!! (2008-10-14) My girls read these books and they couldn t stop talking about them. I was so taken by their passion and enthusiasm that I decided to read them as well. I was have to say that I loved the entire series. I ve read them more than once and thoroughly enjoyed every page. These are full of characters that you actually wish you could become friends with. I definitely recommend them as well as The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I guarantee that once you start reading you will not be able to put these books down.

#Heartwarming and Inspiring (2008-11-23) Three Cups of Tea is the story of how one man can make a difference, and should be a lesson for all of us to never give up thinking that we can make a difference. This is an excellent story about an extraordinary individual and an incredible village most of us have never heard of before. This is a must read for any outdoor enthusiast, humanitarian, and just about anyone who genuinely cares about the world and all those living in it. For a great book of philosophy I recommend Understanding: Train of Thought.
#showed me the way to empower women (2008-11-03) Being born and brought up in Pakistan, this book touched the very cord of my heart. I had always wanted to do something to empower women in my birth country Pakistan and had understood that education is the key to all malaise. I had recently come up with a plan and intended to pursue it. It is no less than a miracle, therefore, for me to have this book Three Cups of Tea by accident in my hand as if to prepare me how to proceed with my plan. Being a women it is harder for me to pursue than for Mr. Mortenson, despite i being a Pakista...
#Massive Construction (2008-10-20) An absolute must-read. A massive construction tool for working with ignorance and generalized muslimophobia. Please read and share. . . The gentle way in which it s written makes it a great combination of an easy read and a harsh reminder of the power of the choices we make. Individually
#Eye-opening and inspiring! (2008-09-29) After reading this book, I felt like I had to tell everyone about it! This is an incredible story that will make you want to take action and make the world a better place. Greg Mortenson deserves to be recognized so that the war on terrorism can be fought peacefully-by teachers armed with pencils and books!
#One person can really make a difference (2008-09-14) As someone who grew up in Middle East I could really connect to the story of this great book. The message of the book is clear: the world would be a better place if we properly educate our children. The book tries to make this point by telling the story of children and people in Pakistan and Afghanistan. But what is more important to me is that it tries to educate people all around the world in another sense: that people, no matter where they are, deserve to be treated with respect. Lies that spread around by politicians and labe...

#greatest romance series (2008-11-25) One of my all-time favourite series. Writing style is excellent, and the plot progression along the series is subtle but very progressively effective. Beautiful romance novel, definately a must-read!
#Read it in 2 days, what more can I say! (2008-11-19) I m an avid reader, but this is the first time I ve been so drawn to a story, I just had to read this quickly, and when it was over, I only wanted to read more!
#The Lion And The Lamb (2008-11-19) I m a latecomer to the Twilight series, but I just finished reading the first book, and I have to say, it was a page turner from start to finish. I have purchased the rest of the books, and cannot wait to start reading again. I am very anxious to see the movie when it comes out this weekend, and I m trusting that it lives up to the hype, and also the expectations that fans of the book have been anticipating. There wasn t one dull moment in this book, I had a very hard time putting it down. I hope that the movie will capture the true chemistry and...
#Disappointingly painful (2008-11-12) Twilight and its sequels took the teen horror romance sub-genre by storm, and it is easily understandable why, while Stephanie Meyer undoubtedly has some skills weaving a good narrative, her subject matter is hopelessly mundane and lacking in good foresight. One dares think that the vast majority of the abilities, traits and twists she uses in her book, while arguably appropriate, are fraught with stereotypical views worthy of any tortured goth-like tween, and her main character s unsurprising battered woman syndrome attribute does nothing to all...
#A fun, light read that s not just for teens. (2008-11-09) At first, I wasn t sure what to make of Bella. As a seventeen-year-old with divorced parents, I thought her quite mature. . . considering she had pretty much fended for herself and her mother, who is very forgetful and eccentric. And now she s going to visit her father in his small hometown of Forks, Washington. She doesn t want to go - she hates it there - but she s determined. While she makes friends easily enough, but for some reason becomes fascinated with Edward Cullen. He, and his brothers and sisters, aren t like t...

#Life in Two Very Different Worlds (2008-12-02) This is a complex and colorful tale that deals with the incredible struggles of a First Nations family s attempts to become reconciled after years of living apart and suffering alone. The novel s setting is the wilds of northern Ontario where a family has grown up learning to survive by living off the land. As they reach adulthood, the pull of the urban south enters their lives and the family falls apart. The story picks up when an uncle and niece eventually reconnect under very strange and tragic circumstances. The uncle, Willie Bird, ...
#Captivating - master storytelling (2008-10-19) In reading Through Black Spruce, I found myself intrigued as much with author Joseph Boyden s writing style as with the story itself. The book slapped me with some confusion in the first three chapters, as I realized that Boyden was using a double narrative style, and the majority of the book alternated between the primary narrator - bush pilot and Cree native, Will Bird and then the other narrator his niece, Annie Bird. The style is an effective method of telling two separate stories of individuals struggling to find their identities - ...
#Through Black Spruce (2008-10-17) I read Three Day Road in about 2 days. . . . I couldn t stop reading. It was gripping! And now this book by Boyden. It s utterly amazing! I can t remember the last time I ate a book with my eyes. . . I ll read everything he writes in future.
#beautiful and haunting (2008-09-30) I read Three Day Road a couple of years ago and it immediately became one of my favorite books. Since then, I have regularly checked for updates as to when another Boyden novel would be released. . . Once again, I ve been blown away. A beautiful and haunting book that will stay with you long after the last page. Believable details and the tragic, yet lovable characters made for an intense story. I, honestly, could not put this one down.
