#Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine (2008-05-16) Like a lot of people, I am gradually coming to the realization that what I put into my body affects the way my mind and body are able to function. Not all food is created equal and counting calories or carbs does very little good if I m not giving my body the nutrition it needs. Slowly, I am learning that my body, mind, and spirit prefer whole foods to fast food and empty calories. Rainbow Green Live- Food Cuisine introduces the concept of live-food. This plan is strictly vegan and promotes the usage of fresh raw foods whenever possible...
#Awe inspiring! (2006-01-11) I bought this book thinking that I might get some solid nutritional advice of the you should eat more fiber and discontinue junk food variety. What I got was something that held me spellbound from the start. I cannot believe that I did not know most of the facts contained in this book but now that I do I believe it would be difficult to go back to the way I used to eat. This is the type of thinking that could change your life!
#Is it really raw? (2005-02-03) I ve been eating raw for over a month now, only using this book and still haven t managed to eat all the recipes. I find my-self asking constantly: Is this REALLY a raw food dish? You d never believe you were eating living cuisine. Most praise this book for it s simlicity. I personally don t find it exactly simple but then again I have never used any other raw uncook book before. I m dissapointed to some degree though and sometimes feel chained to my kitchen. At times like that I simple look for a quick recipe and just throw something together and gu...
#These are the best recipes (2004-04-05) I normally don t write reviews at all, but this book certainly deserves one. The highlights:* It doesn t consists of all these sweet recipes but has great tasting alternatives (I could never get into all that sweet stuff), there are no dates, bananas, etc. , and there are some good explanations as to why* The recipes don t require a lot of strange ingredients of which I never even heard before, ingredients are easily found* You don t have to plan days ahead of time to just produce one dish, a lot of it can be put together quickly* It does have i...
#The Quintessesntial Raw Book - You Must Have It!!! (2003-12-27) My husband and I are transitioning to raw foods. We have ordered several books, only to find the unlimate source for raw food receipes in this book. Unbelievably tasty and ranging from easy to prepare to somewhat complicated, this book is our new cookbook staple in the kitchen. Not only does Dr. Cousens explain his reasoning carefully and in depth, but he goes on to suggest ways besides food to create the best life you can have. He isn t just promoting his own work, either, but incorporates the latest work of Dr. ...

#An insightful, fact-filled, ",user friendly", guide (2004-03-05) Written by holistic medical doctor, psychiatrist, family therapist, and licensed homeopathic physician Gabriel Cousens, Conscious Eating is a health-centered eating and nutrition guide that carefully walks readers through individualizing their individual food choices based upon the needs of their bodies (including the option of vegetarianism and making the sometimes difficult transition to a vegetarian diet), as well as numerous and invaluable ",tips, tricks, and techniques", with respect to food preparat...
#Totally changed my perspective on food (2002-09-18) I bought this book because I wanted to become a better vegetarian/vegan and gain a healthier attitude toward self-nourishing (without giving up coffee and chocolate!). I found the analysis sections extremely eye-opening, and learned that the high-carb vegan diet I was having such trouble sticking to is not at all suited to my body/metabolism. I ve made some real shifts in my diet based on this book, especially including both more protein and more raw foods, and have a lot more focus and energy now. I highly recommend this book, esp...
#Digest this book!! (2001-12-28) In a world that is becoming so conscious of the word conscious I am glad that Dr. Cousens got to this title first. This book is wonderful. It is filled with many truths about many different things mostly to do with food, digestion, and health. This book is also very powerful for it enlightens and empowers poeple. It empowers people to challenge their own diets, and to see what the perfect diet is for humans. It gives you a lot of support in getting there to or atleast keeping your eyes on the goal. Dr. Cousens fills this book with lots of intere...
#A Brilliant Combination of different Sciences of Health (2001-12-27) This book is one of the best health books I ve ever read, no question about it. It combines pretty much every diet fad you ve ever heard about into a raw, living food diet. In this book, Cousens teaches us how to follow the Ayurvedic principles through a 80-90% raw food diet. He also teaches us how to individualize our diets for our metabolic body types. This is one of the only books I know that teaches how to individualize diet for a vegetarian. The book covers religion, meditation, toxins in our environment,...
#The Real Deal (2001-08-27) There s lots of ",stuff", out there on nutrition, but few have integrated the scientific and spiritual aspects of food as deftly as Mr. Cousens. No text is more comprehensive and informative. The distinguishing aspect of this book is its approach, which is anti-dogmatic. Cousens provides a template and encourages the reader to apply it in understanding the effects of food on her individual body. Anyone serious about nutrition, food toxcity, weight loss, and harmonizing with nature will find this book a must.

#Has many ideas/theories that are not contained in other bks (2005-06-12) I just finished reading the book, I am 25, and no other book that I ve read talked about how our bodies can never absorb nutrients properly unless you are 100% raw for an extended period of time. I think this book can provide the motivation that 70-80% raw foodists need to attain a 100% raw food diet. I was surprised to see reviews of 2 stars for this book, but they have a point. The book is mostly about one person (or family) expressing their experiences and ideas from going 100% raw. Other reveiwers say that...
#BeforeI ever read the book... (2004-06-10) I ran track 9 years, from junior high to college, studied martial arts, boxed and kickboxed. Before I ever read the book these are some of the things I experienced directly. I was better off eating junkfood and exercising than eating healthly and not excerising at all. Physical exertion should go hand with hand with eating right. When training I ate primarily raw fruits and veggies, supplemented with proteins shakes and plain tuna. Since I was training I was also working out 4-6 hours a day. I was sleeping 5 hours a day and was completely...
#The Emporer s New Clothes (2004-05-10) When I first purchased this book I was so excited by the raw food world. I read it and found it useful so I sent a copy to my mother who was struggling with breast cancer, thinking it would benefit her to have a step-by-step approach to healthy eating. Months later, I reread the book from an editorial frame of mind and can say I was appalled to find conceptual breakdowns throughout the first six chapters. There are only sparse references to nutritionist and hygienist, there is no sense of respect for academic pursuits of knowledge. On the...
#Too religious.... (2004-03-26) This book has more to do with the authors believs then with ",facts", and expierences. Id recommend something more professional especially for people that want to start eating raw.
#This book changed my life! (2003-12-03) Victoria Boutenko s book, Twelve Steps to Raw Foods, helped me to change my diet and my health. Since switching over to a raw foods diet, my illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic acne, and major mood swings have all but vanished. I have lots of energy, can sleep like a baby, my skin is clear, and I m a much more peaceful and happy person. Ms. Boutenko s book has been an integral part of my healing process, and I highly recommend it to anyone who s ready to look and feel better!
