#Great Author, Great Recipes (2004-03-02) Bette Hagman has several great books on cooking without gluten. My son is gluten, dairy and soy free so good cookbooks are a must. Best of luck in culinary arts class. I am in culinary school and am hoping to have a restaurant for people who have food allergies. If you are looking for books Bette Hagman has the best I have seen.
#Diagnosed at age 12 (2004-02-11) I love to cook, but I can t eat anything in the regular cookbooks. I m hoping to take culinary arts next year in 9th grade, and I hope this will help me because the chef has a celiac son. This book includes wonderful and tasty ways to get back the foods that I loved before I was diagnosed.

#Great book to have! Celiacs really can have baked goods... (2004-03-01) If you are looking for lots of ",low sugar", recipes, this is not the book for you. But if you are a celiac or cook for a celiac (like I do) and you want to eat ",normal", things, you ve got to have this book! I rely heavily on this book so that I can make things for my husband like the rest of the world eats: pizza, cake, cookies, hamburger buns, and french bread just to name a few. (I think the french bread recipe is the best gluten-free thing I have ever had!) I really don t use the main cours...
#This book is a must-have! (2003-08-20) This is my first of Bette Hagman s books. I first checked it out at the library and then ordered it from Amazon. The recipes are simple, yet tasty. The breads taste like regular bread (not dry or crumbly) and the brownies are just wonderful. I was so thrilled to be able to make bread and dessert for my daughter and actually have it taste good. It definitely makes me feel better to be able to offer her an alternative that isn t dry or tasteless. This book is a definite must for anyone needing to cook gluten-free. Thanks to this book, my daug...
#Great recipes! Definitely fast (2003-01-17) This was my first Bette Hagman cookbook and it was not my last. As a person who must now cook and bake for a celiac I must say that baking is no longer a choice, it is a necessity. I knew very little when I picked up this book. As I read it, I learned that I needed to restructure my kitchen training, but I need not be afraid of using new ingredients. After consulting this book, I could quickly make a complete dinner including desert that tasted great and fulfilled our nutritional needs. Goodbye chicken, rice and steamed broccoli fo...
#AWESOME Gluten Free Bible!! (2003-01-17) This book, along with Betty s others, is a MUST have for any person with Celiac Disease. Her recipes give hope that we might eat ",normal", food again. Wonderful tasty recipes and good information at the beginning of the book also. BUY IT!!
#The recipes are gluten free, but healthy it s not! (2002-05-11) I read all the reviews before I bought this book and assumed it was a good book for people allergic to gluten looking for healthy recipes. If you consider brown sugar, confectioner s sugar, white sugar, corn syrup, margarine, Butter Flavored Crisco, canned vegetables, and soda healthy ingredients then by all means this book is for you. But, if you re like me and have health problems then I would suggest not buying this book. You d be better off buying prepared gluten free flour and adapting recipes you already...

#This Book Is All You Really Need! (2006-09-22) This book is the best thing since sliced bread! After searching high and low for a decent book on gluten free bread, I stumbled across this book and haven t looked back since. There are so many great receipes that are extremely easy to follow. You can t go wrong even if you are just a beginner. It also has receipes for egg free, lactose free, yeast free and many other allergy free variations. This book is really all you need. The bread is a thousand times better than any gluten free bread that you can buy in the stores. Maybe the man...
#GFG Bakes Bread is Great! (2003-08-05) My children and I were diagnosed with food allergies 1 1/2 yrs ago. I tried quite a few food allergy cookbooks. The results ranged from tolerable to absolutely gross. I wasn t sure if there were any decent recipes out there for wheat, dairy and egg allergies. There are. Ms. Hagnman is absolutely wonderful. Her recipes make our food life much more enjoyable. We especially enjoy her hamburger bun recipe. Anyone out there looking for easy and delicious allergy recipes, this is the place.
#too time-consuming! (2003-02-23) I checked out a copy of the book from the library before buying it. After making 3 of the recipes, including some that she says are her regular breads, I found them too time-consuming for the outcome. Roben Ryberg s breads are much simpler for the small difference in taste. If you have the time, though, go for it!
#Thank God for Betty!! (2003-01-17) If you are diagnosed with Celiac Disease Betty Hageman s books are a MUST BUY!! She is a plethora of information and great recipes!! The best part is she speaks from experience.
#Great Glutten-free book for dummies (2002-09-02) If you have a wheat intolerance this is the book to get. And if you have never made bread, this is the book to get. It explains every step with straight forward instructions. . . . Happy baking!

#This book sucks!!!!! (2004-01-03) I was really excited to try bette s book because I have heard so many fantastic things about it. But. . . . . . . when i tried the recipes, I was so disappointed. I was an extremely accomplished baker before I was diagnosed with gluten ataxia, and bette s recipes are definitely no substitution for the deligious goodies I used to love. The recipes do NOT work, and if they don t crumble into a million pieces, they taste terrible! Don t wait your time making any of her recipes. You ll be very disappointed
#Yummy treats are ours again! (2003-02-09) After recently discovering I am allergic to wheat/gluten I have been trying the alternatives pre-made at Whole Foods, my local Health food store. That adds up. I have always enjoyed baking and missed that as well. Bette s books satisfy me in both areas. I can now bake again for myself and after the initial investment of the flours, turn out treats for much less than the pre-made items. Waffles, bread, cookies. . yum! I have successfully substituted soy milk for any dairy in her recipes since that is an allergy too. If you are gluten free ...
#For all gluten-free cooks -- especially kids! (2002-05-11) Those of us following a gluten-free diet often feel something akin to claustrophobia when it comes to food. Every day we re faced with so many goodies that we can t have. It s a great comfort to have a resource like this one at home when you walk past the bakery section of your local grocery store. Just knowing you *can* go home and bake something sweet and tastyopens up your world a little. And these recipes do work, some are complex, many are very simple, which means the book answers a range of cook s skills. While it is ...

#A Primer for Celiacs, value of mixing Flours, Bread making (2003-11-13) Whether you are just getting started and are tired of only eating potatoes, rice, meat, and vegetables, or you ve been gluten-free for a while you ll like this book. The revised edition of this book explores the ",new", flours like Sorghum and Garfava. Have you bought those rotten boxed mixes with only rice flour in them, or tried to bake with JUST rice flour? This book will help you make something not only edible, but good! By using Tapioca flour, potato starch flour and others with the rice flour ba...
#Review by physician allergic to wheat and dairy. (2003-10-27) I have bought several cookbooks in the past 15 years for people who are allergic to wheat and/or dairy. Many of them provided many recipes for dishes that would not normally have wheat in them, which was not of great value. Bette Hagman specializes in providing recipes for those foods that are normally made with large quantities of wheat, and her recipes really work. The results are better than many similar recipes in other books that I have. I have largely gotten rid of most of my other cookbooks for those with allerg...
