#Colossal waste of time, energy and money (2010-02-28) I rarely read novels. The last one I thoroughly enjoyed some time ago was Diana Gabaldon s Outlander series, so, a friend bought me the Pillars as a gift, thinking that I d also enjoy it. I REALLY DIDN T!I managed to read some 300 pages, but when I discovered that my local library carried the unabridged audio version, I resorted to listening to the book on CDs here and there to finish it. I agree with many others here: --the book is tediously long and pointlessly repetitive and detailed in a way that doesn t add much of anythi...
#Addictive and wonderfull! (2010-01-31) I ve been really unable to stop reading that book after less than 20 pages throught. So many sleeping hours were used to read and read furthermore. Caracters are wonderfully brought up to the story. Lots of interesting details in history, architecture, religions and more. Great book. only one reserve, the paperback edition is really printed in a small police so get a pair of reading glasses!
#I almost wish (2009-12-15) I almost wish I hadn t read Pillars of the Earth and it s follow up World Without End just so I would have the pleasure of reading them for the first time again. I was very glad I had never read Pillars when it was orginally published waiting for the follow up book would have killed me. These two books entralled me, the stories wrapped themselves into my brain, they were the fastest read of two long books I was so sorry when they were done. They left me wishing for a 3rd book following this story line.
#Great epic (2009-10-15) Great read. One of my favorite epics. Very well thought of, touching and definitely a page turner. I could hardly put it down.
#Unchallenging, one dimensional, waste (2009-07-06) Ken Follet s The Pillars of the Earth is truly one of the worst reads I have come across. . . in his preface Follet raves about the popularity of the book and the throngs of readers who claim it to be the best read of their lives I would like to meet those readers and smack them with the 973 page paperweight that robbed me of a week of my life. Really people, lets get some sense knocked into you. Follet spikes his mind-numbingly mediocre writing with violent rape scenes all throughout the book, I assume to shock the reader into c...

#AN ENDLESS MEDIEVAL SAGA (2010-03-16) Do not expect to find high literature here. But expect to be very entertained. Ken Follet s sequel to the tighter and more cared for The Pillars of the Earth is an endless medieval soap-opera. Set on the backdrop of the English cathedral city of Kingsbridge in the early 14th century the heroes have to avoid poverty and starvation, weather an ongoing war and survive both the ever-returning plague and their cruel overlords. Fortunes are made and lost, love is reciprocated or shunted, offspring is fathered by strange bedfellows. Life and death ar...
#ENOUGH WITH THE EPIC NOVELS (2009-12-10) Judging by the many positive reviews on Amazon I guess I am in the minority. I am not an avid reader but do enjoy a good book. Pillars of the Earth seemed to be in everyones hands and the topic of conversation at every social function I attended lately, so I looked past the 900+ pages and read this and enjoyed it. That being said I foolishly decided to read World Without End or as I call it, Book Without Eend. I will keep it short and sweet, Basically rape, violence and oh yes more rape. I implore you do not waste your time reading thi...
#Disappointing read (2009-10-23) I was really looking forward to this book, especially after reading the first book Pillars of the Earth. Pillars had a great plot, great characters, and a fantastic setting. World Without End on the other hand was nothing but violence, followed by sex, followed by more violence. Then repeat that over and over again for 1000 pages. End of novel. I don t recommend this book at all. While Follett does make an attempt at developing some great characters, he spends too much time on the other stuff and not enough time building a good plot. This b...
#Its Okay (2009-10-15) I LOVED Pillars of Earth. But World Without End was a disappointment. If you haven t read Pillars then WWE might be pretty good. But I found WWE way too similar to Pillars. Same story, same characters just with different names, and same plot line. It was really bad that I could predict exactly what could happen all the time. It was also very repetitive, which is Ken Follet s writing style, but this time it was too much. The repetition made the book unnecessarily long. Nevertheless it was an okay read. Well written and the characters well developed. Its...
#Great read (2009-08-26) This was a good book to read through for a couple of months. I had read the first one and enjoyed it so I decided to buy this one too. It has a mixture of war, hate, jealousy, revenge, love, friendship and perseverance. Although it was slow at some points, the suspense made me not want to put the book down. It gives you a good idea of what living in those days was like and I also learnt a thing or too about the plague :) The passing of time always bothers me at the end of his books because it is too quick but I understand that without moving to the future w...

#Are you kidding me? (2004-03-17) This has got to be the worst book Ken Follett ever wrote. The story is ridiculous. Would the KGB, at the height of the cold war, really let some English woman on one of their prized spy ships, give her free reign to move around, and relate to her all the details of their top secret sources and methods? Please. And of course a flight attendant has the skills to outwit a ship full of hardened KGB agents, and figure out how to destroy the ship, all in a few hours. Hello! And by the way, Ken, diesel fuel cannot be ignited by a cigarette. The style wa...
#Follet is constistently good (2004-03-01) Triple is a spy novel set in the mid-60s when Israel is rushing to beat the Arabs in a race to build an atomic bomb. This book as all the action, suspense and romance you d expect from Follet. His research is excellent and this book is very believable. As one of Follet s earlier novels, it definitely stands the test of time.
#the ending makes the book worthit (2003-12-10) I m usually not big into spy novels. . . but I m a big fan of follett so I gave this book a try. At some times I found it a little hard to follow. There s several names and factions from different countries going back and forth. But the ending is as good as any slam bang ending from a spy/action novel as you ll get. Great action once again. Follett has a talent for weaving fictional characters and stories around real life events and places. This book is no exception. While not my favorite of Follett s various works, this is...
#Espionage and romance, Follett style (2003-05-06) Ken Follett once again writes an incredibly compelling novel. Triple begins at protagonist Nat Dickstein s release from the concentration camps, and goes ahead to 1968. Of three groups - Dickstein representing Israel, as well as spies from the KGB and Egypt - who will ultimately wind up with the uranium to build a nuclear weapon? The way Follett recreates history, the book COULD be true. He does a marvelous job, even when the point of view goes from one spy to another. This is NOT a light read but it s intriguing. . . captivatin...
#Great page-turning spy thriller (2003-05-05) One of Follett s first spy-thrillers - Triple - is a typical cat and mouse spy novel, which is characterized by many dynamic characters all of which play a big and even role in the plot. From all ends of the political and religious spectrum - Follett introduces various characters right in the beginning of the novel with an unlikely meeting of future foes. The story begins at Oxford University in London England, where a group of students participate in political discussions. What they don t know is that their political differences will so...

#A Good Read (2008-07-07) This book is a good read but in my opinion isn t even close to ranking as high on my must read list as Pillars of The Earth and World Without End.
#Very good read (2004-07-03) Rating System:1 star = abysmal, some books deserve to be forgotten2 star = poor, a total waste of time3 star = good, worth the effort4 star = very good, what writing should be5 star = fantastic, must own it and share it with othersEYE OF THE NEEDLE by Ken FolletSTORY: WWII rages throughout Europe. It quickly becomes a race to stop the German spy from revealing the truth about the upcoming Allied invasion. MY FEEDBACK:1) CHARACTERS ¡V nice backgrounds and mo...
#A first rate World War II thriller! -Regards to Willi (2004-07-01) It is the height of World War II and the balance of the war could be at stake. The Germans have pinned their hopes on their master spy, ",the Needle",. This book proceeds at a brisk pace because the spy must avoid detection by ordinary Britons and escape the relentless efforts of British intelligence to track him down and stop him before he transmits critical information to Germany. These scenarios create the dramatic tension necessary to keep the story moving. Besides the element of the chase, there is also...
#Warning! One Great Book (2004-02-05) Eye of The Needle is a super-great WWII spy thriller that takes place in England right before D-Day. The Germans have had spies planted in England since before the War started. The British have slowly but surely been catching them. Now they have come across Germany s #1 spy and he is bound and determined to make it back to Germany at all cost with Allied top secret information that will change the course of the war! This book will keep you at the edge of your seat throughout the whole story. This was my first book that I ve read from Ken F...
#You Saw My Face (2003-11-10) Ken Follet s Eye of the Needle was an extraordinary book about a German spy named Faber, who knows the greatest secret of the Allies. If he gets the information to Hitler than the war is most likely to be won by the Nazis. It is a race between Faber and many intelligent Allies. Two of them, Godliman and Bloggs have traced back many murders and crimes to Faber and are always close to catching him but somehow he always finds a way to escape. They both know that The Needle, Faber s codename, is very important and close to Hitler because he ends his le...
